Hi, it’s me, one of your friendly 757crave servers. Seems to me there are alot more customers leaving satisfied than these recent Unilocal reviews are showing. So don’t be shy, if you like us and left happy, share your experience. Also, if you are not satisfied with your meal or service while you are dining with us, please, speak up then, that way we can fix the problem. For instance, one review said the server was on her phone most of the time the customer was dining… we use an online delivery service whose orders come to us through email on our phones… there for, though there may not be many tables to tend to in house at the time and we seem busy on our phones, it may be because we are taking delivery orders. Call in to go orders are a regular thing also. So, at any given time one server is tending to in house customers(which should be priority), online orders, phone orders, and being a cashier. I try my best to please everyone knowing that isn’t possible. So, if you are one of my satisified Cravers, give us a shout out.

Came in on a busy weekend, and the waitress was working her tail off and went out of her way to acknowledge me and help me choose what menu item I was going to order. She was answering the phone, serving guests, and on her phone to retrieve orders from her email for an outside ordering service. The food was excellent, tasty, and unlike other restaurants in the area. Great armosphere, lovely music, and spot on clean. It is an old building, yet the inside is cozy, quaint and quirky. Coffee was delicious as well. Kudos to the awesome waitress for multitasking and handling a restaurant full of patrons by herself.

I just realized that my only review and all of my photos for 757 Crave in Ghent were for Breakfast. Well I tell you what, they’re not just a breakfast restaurant. While they do serve their breakfast menu all day, the also make a mean lunch. I recently stopped in for lunch and after looking over the menu and then checking the chalk board I found the object of my desire. On the chalk board was text that said«The Islander Burger» So what is an Islander Burger? Basically it’s a «Bigger Mac». What they should have named it is the«Food Coma» burger. About 10 – 15 minutes after I ordered a lunch basket was placed on the table. I was not ready for the meal that had been put down in front of me. When I saw 2 patties on the menu, I figured they would be smalls. I was so wrong. Again, a Bigger Mac is a perfect description of this monster burger. Added to the mix was a generous portion of fries. Being the human vacuum cleaner that I am, I put my mind to it and stepped up to the challenge. The burger was delicious and had it’s on twist on the Big Mac recipe. It was a tough battle, however there could be only one… The only carry out on that meal was in my belly. So if you find yourself downtown, in Ghent or over by Norfolk General and you’re looking for a place to get a good affordable lunch, I suggest you check 757 Crave in Ghent out. PS. Always check the chalk board.

This is the first time I’ve paid for food that reminded me of meals I ate while in the Navy. I arrived and stood awkwardly in the doorway until I sat myself and still it took a few minutes for me to be acknowledged. While I waited, I had a chance to see the table across from me leave with their plates still full. When my server did come, she was friendly. However, she spent most of the time I was there playing with her phone at the counter and it was a struggle to get her attention. By the end of the meal, I followed the trend of leaving much of the food untouched. The burrito was fine, but the potatoes were inedible. The space seems run down and the air was stale and damp. The service was lacking. The food was not good. Sorry to buck the trend, but they earned that 2 star rating.

I really wish I had better things to say. I had such an amazing experience at the location in Portsmouth that my expectations were high, I admit. But, unfortunately, not even my normal standards were met. I went for breakfast and initially ordered the Greek omelet. It was lukewarm at best and the huge chunks of feta and tomato left much to be desired. The«homefries» were cold, rubbery and tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. So, after finally grabbing the server’s attention, I sent it back. Got a grilled cheese sandwich and, lo and behold, it was also untasty. It actually made my stomach hurt. Very unlikely I’ll return.

This place has good coffee, nice people and really good loco moco. My wife had the French toast which was amazing. I really liked the fact they had a Pacific influence. I hope they start doing some poke bowls.

My sister ordered the french toast and I was jealous, it was SOOOOOGOOD! I had the breakfast burrito, nice portion size, it was jam packed and served with home fries, which is nice cuz Im always wanting a side of something(also served with sour cream and salsa inclduded) The thing about this burrito was is it was in a wrap vs a tortilla, which is cool, but it wasnt secure & kinda fell apart on me, which is well, you know, annoying. Also ordered lumpia, which comes as a order of 3 and for 6.00 I feel like you should just get 4, kind of petty in my opinion if we’re being honest. Service was good, only one waitress but she kept up and we werent really in need of anything for too long. Overall, I liked the place, would go back to eat the french toast again!

I’m giving them 4 stars cause my wife liked the waitress and she loved her red velvet waffles. Me on the other hand, well I thought the service was ok, and I wasn’t to impressed with the food, I think I had an Hawaiian hot dog. Personally I would give 3 stars, but my wife loved it so I bumped it up one

Came to this place in between classes. It’s not far from my school(ODU), and me and my homie wanted to try something new. We came here right when they opened. The place is kind of a small location but you get a comfortable vibe from it. Our server was very nice and gave us insight on the menu and answered our questions thoroughly. Now as food goes I would say the dish I ordered, the«Loco Moco», was okay. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great. I was content and it did the job. My second visit however, I ordered the crab sandwich, I believe it’s called the«2nd Best Crab Sandwich in the World», was bomb diggity. It was everything I expected and how a soft shell crab sandwich should taste. This place is pretty interesting because it’s like a American and Filipino infused restaurant. I would like to come back and try other recipes on the menu. Try this place and I recommend the crab sandwich! Just doing what I do and keeping it real.

Had the Cajun Omelette, the SOS platter, and French toast. All were fantastic, and the staff was amazing! I’ll definitely be back.

Food’s not life changing, but the no frills décor is comforting to me. The lumpia is what sold this spot to me… the lumpia itself AND that they even serve it at breakfast. All menu items are offered for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is another reason why this has quickly become one of my «spots.» Highly recommend this spot if you need to satisfy a crave.

My husband and I ended up here after taking a wrong exit… decided to look on Unilocal and find the nearest breakfast place that pops up! This was first on the list and had good ratings so we decided to try it! I had the humoungo am burrito. Let me tell you they aren’t kidding when they say humoungo! My husband has the S.O.S platter. I tried a bite and it was deeeelicious! The crave taters were also very good. Garlicky but I happen to love that! Our waitress was great she was attentive and funny. Although that’s to be expected when we were one of only 2 tables in the restaurant overall very good experience and I would definitely come back! I’m glad our little adventure brought us here and we’ll definitely crave it next time we go out for breakfast

We found a little taste of aloha at 757 Crave When we walked into this small diner it was around noon and the place was crowded. Our party of five was greeted not in these exact words but basically, have a seat if you can find one. It was easy to sense that the server was busy and stressed out but seemed to be friendly. Another server came out and took our order. Again, obviously stressed out. She seemed unable to work well under pressure. No smiles, no hi, hello nor thank you from her. I’m super big on service especially at food establishments because service sets the tone and experience. To me, bad service can overshadow good food. No warm hospitality here. Now, on to the food. Nice selection of island style foods — A mix of Filipino and Hawaiian — and traditional breakfast served all day.(Yay!) We ordered rice plates and appetizer. I tried the loco moco plate. It was served with white sausage gravy and not so sticky rice. Different, but it was good. If you’re craving for some island food or good traditional hot breakfast this is the spot. 4-stars for food. 2-stars for service.

I was disappointed they were out of Lumpia, but the drunken monkey sticks were delicious. The crave wrap was good and the fries were crunchy. Everything was hot when it came out. It’s off the beaten path and not too crowded. I’ll be back.

Went for lunch to try something different. Was only disappointed they were out of lumpia. I had the shrimp basket and the she crab soup and both were great. It’s a nice local place but I think I missed the mark by not just having breakfast! Friends had the burrito and said it was good. Would definitely go back to sample some of that goodness.

Just ate here today, great little hole in the wall that if not for Unilocal I might never have found. Wife got the a.m. Kraver sandwich and I had the humongo breakfast burrito which was good sized even if it wasn’t ginormous. Both were immediately devoured and enjoyed. The parmesan home fries were absolutely delicious. As an added bonus the waitress gave us a few grapes for our son to try as he’s currently learning to feed himself little pieces of solid foods. Little touches like that and the wonderful food will absolutely have us coming back for more, with friends too.

It pains me greatly to be the first to give this friendly restaurant less than a 3-star review. But after sampling three different dishes during three separate visits, I have to call them the way I taste them. My description and comments on the dishes I tried are provided below: THRILLAFROMMANILLA: «2 eggs over garlic fried rice served with Mama Yoni’s lumpia.» My eggs were prepared over medium as suggested by my server, and they were cooked accordingly. I was very satisfied with the eggs themselves. The lumpia were very tasty and flavorful, defiinitely better than average The accompanying duck sauce was very ordinary and too sweet for my tastes. I didn’t penalize them for this, as I’ve never been much of a fan of duck sauce. One exception is the delicious habanero duck sauce that is served with the lumpia at another local restaurant, which I enjoy. What killed this dish for me was the fried rice. Not only could I barely taste the garlic as described, but it was also oily to excess. Fried rice should only have a trace of oily residue on its surface, while still maintaining a predominantly dry and fluffy state. Unfortunately, its oily texture left an aftertaste that lingered on my tongue long afterwards. My overall rating for this dish is 2 stars. HUMONGO A.M. BURRITO: «Scrambled eggs, sausage, peppers, onions, and cheese in a tomato-basil wrap, then topped with salsa and sour cream, served with Crave taters.» Indeed, this was one humongous burrito. Upon its arrival to my table, I began to examine its surface temperature with my fingers. It was uneven overall, warm in some spots and cool in other spots. In addition, the texture of the wrap was too dry, which caused it to flake off too easily when cutting into it. The fillings, which included the scrambled eggs, sausage, peppers, onions, and cheese, were flavorful and satisfying. I don’t eat sour cream, so I didn’t touch it. The salsa was too sweet for my tastes, which is my anti-sweet tooth talking. I asked for some Tabasco Sauce instead, which helped to spice it up a bit. The Crave taters had three positive things going for them: First, the portion size was very generous, which was a good match for the size of the burrito. Second, they were cooked to a pleasant crunch on the outside while being soft on the inside. Third, they were absolutely devoid of grease. Bravo! On the downside, I found them to be underseasoned. I would have preferred a stronger presence of black pepper and paprika, with perhaps some finely minced onions and a dash of cayenne pepper. As delightfully crunchy as they were, they were too bland for my tastes. My overall rating for this dish is 3.5 stars. So far, this averages out to a about a 3-star rating. For my next visit, I was rooting for a dish that would smack a home run, one which could have propelled my final average rating to 4 stars. Unfortunately, my next dish struck out badly. 757CRAVEFISHTACOS: «Our spin on a beach favorite with grilled tortillas.» My tortillas were cold to the touch. Game over. This should never happen. Soft tortillas for tacos should always be thoroughly heated to a nice warm temperature. The tilapia pieces in the tacos were bland and uninspiring. Bits and pieces of lettuce and tomato were lacking in flavor and appeared to be merely tossed in as an afterthought. Finally, the fillings were drizzled with an excess of some type of sauce, which I found very unappetizing. leaving an unpleasant taste in my mouth afterwards. My overall rating for this dish is 1 star. The final result is a 2-star rating. Whenever two out of three dishes leave me with an unpleasant aftertaste, I simply cannot justify a higher rating. The servers I encountered were very friendly and accommodating. In addition, I enjoyed listening to the golden oldies that were playing on their old-fashioned record player. My favorite was The Wanderer by Dion, which is always an upper for me. I’ll be back… sometime. In the meantime, I am begging their kitchen to do some serious work on the issues I have described. No more oily fried rice. No more cold tacos. Please!!!
