Great atmosphere, amazing service with a smile, ribs that were smoked to perfection, and complimentary corn bread. Not to mention some pretty amazing flat breads as well. Who would want to go anywhere else?

Great music, great Manhattan. The bartender was fantastic. It’s my new favorite place in Norfolk.

Fantastic. Great food, staff, and bar. Great atmosphere. Alcohol and beer selection is good, with a lot of whiskey and scotch choices. If I lived in Norfolk, I’d be here every week.

My food was OK. We had a large group and the service was very good. The appetizers we ordered were really good. I got the flat iron with oscar topping, it was overcooked, but I let it go because of the size of our party and I figured the sauce would help forgive the medium-wellness. The oscar topping wasn’t great, it kind of reminded me of canned tuna. Everyone else’s steaks looked good, so I’d give this place a try again and order something different.

As a travel for work gal, I look for local places that bring their region to the table. This warm, cosy but not small locale does just that. Good service, I sat at bar, as always. There was a seasonal menu along with the main menu. Not bad at all. For cocktail drinkers, Old Fashioneds were on the chalkboard. I had an awesome $ 8 Merlot. I can’t stand when a glass of wine costs more than the bottle!!! I had hummus then salmon. Really good! Tried the cornbread — not my style(I like it a little burnt and crispy not pale). Flatbread that came with hummus was awesome. A local dude sitting next to me had never tried hummus so I shared; «like refried beans» was the verdict. Rather accurate. Why not 4 stars? Well, that’s really for the very best but — dammit — this place is good! Real good!!!

Excellent food. I went inside expecting more of a sports bar or bbq joint vibe but instead was greeted by an mid to upscale dining experience. I went for lunch around 1130 and was surprised that more people were not there. There were a lot of reasonably priced lunch choices to be had, however the dinner menus items were fairly pricy. I had a goat cheese and beet salad with a salmon filet. It was delicious. The salmon was a large portion and perfectly cooked. I would have liked a few more greens as it was a ‘salad’ but it was so good I didn’t mind. A great find in a smaller town and it is great to see places cooking fresh, gourmet food in these communities.

Today was my second time dining here in two weeks. Both times were for lunch. The atmosphere here is great. It is clean and the service is good. The lunch menu offers some great deals. We started off with the onion ring appetizer which was great! It was a giant platter that came with ranch and ketchup for dipping. They tasted great and our party of three ate almost all of them. Our only complaint was that they came out lukewarm. For lunch, two of us got the lunch feature($ 8) which was the turkey pastrami on rye with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. It also came with a cup of fruit and their English chips which are seasoned potatoes. The sandwich was pretty good, but the potatoes were not good at all. They were not hot and completely over seasoned. They were cut too thick in my opinion. If you are going to make a good house made chip they need to be thin, more like a kettle chip. I got the flatbread lunch combo($ 7) which comes with your choice of three of their flatbreads(I got the chicken pesto) and either soup or salad. I would have got the soup, but it was black bean and that didn’t sound good, plus it is August. So I opted for the salad. It was nothing to shout about. It was just some mixed greens in a bowl. The Italian dressing had no flavor really. Overall, my lunch here was pretty lame. I thought I would give it a second chance from two weeks ago. I found a similar experience. The service is good. The food is not. If I could give two and a half stars I would. They still have some work to do on their food.

goood!!! Greeeaaat! My only recommendation is more variety, Nebraska is loaded with hamburger joints or make some unique burgers of your own.

We’re visiting Norfolk from Chicago and had dinner with our cousins at Black Cow Fat Pig last night and had wonderful evening. The patio on a warm summers evening was so nice as they had lots of room for our large group. The food was great, totally up to big city standards, but the prices were even better. Loved the excellent Nebraska beers, our waitress even brought us samples of some that we didn’t order so we could try others. They had a good wine selection as well at very fair prices. The service was wonderful, everyone was great, the owner spent a lot of time with us as well. It can be challenging serving a large group, but all the food came out at the same time. Lastly, they also were very courteous by not including quantity on the check which most places do for large parties. We totally enjoyed BCFP and will be back on our next visit as this was the best restaurant we’ve experienced in NE.

I ordered a medium rare steak. It came out blue so they took it back… brought it back out beyond well done. Their response was, «at least it has good flavor.» It was also half fat. No exaggeration. There was no offer to make it right. It was a $ 28 steak. With an additional $ 5 balsamic and blue cheese topping«Loaded baked potato» was pretty pathetic also. Not impressed at all. :(

Just got to Norfolk and already eaten here twice. Our experiences have been made better with(both times) Alyssa as our server! She is the beer guru! Giving excellent recommendations we both loved. The food was great as well. Lovely ambiance on the patio with fresh herbs grown for the dishes they service. Will definitely make this a frequent spot.

This is a great place to eat! I sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by the bartender. They have their own Pale Ale I highly recommend. The ribeye was delicious as well as the red roasted potatoes. The only downfall is that they put a pad of butter on the steak(hence 4 instead of 5 stars). Being lactose intolerant, I just scraped it off to the side. If you get a side salad, get the honey vinaigrette dressing.

Great atmosphere to this place. Classy, but keepin it real. Like Norfolk itself. Thoughtful selection of microbrewskis on tap. The best in town fo sho. They have a nice seasonal rotation going from Nebraska brewing.(Prost!) The menu is varied enough for any taste. Comfort food, classic BBQ or urban steakhouse fare… it’s all there. Try their steak, and try it rare! Dare I say they’re on a tear? Try Black Cow Fat Pig. Because really. eating at Brown Horse Skinny Goat wouldn’t be near as fun.

My experience overall was delicious and I will definitely come back here again if I’m ever in Norfolk. I had driven by this restaurant and was attracted by the name and decided to stop in and have lunch. Despite my arrival being 15 minutes to closing, the staff still let me and my family come in to eat. The staff was very knowledgeable of the menu as well as the variety of beers they had on tap and ones they had bottled. The complimentary cornbread and honey butter was delicious and was the best cornbread I have eaten, not to cakey and not to dense. I ordered the black and blue burger with a side of coleslaw. The bacon is cut into thin strips and fried which who wouldn’t love that. The burger comes with a blue cheese dressing which has just the right amount of cheese without making it to pungent. The burger is crusted with peppercorns and cooked until medium. Usually I am not a fan of mayonnaise based coleslaw but I was extremely happy with it.

Fantastic meal. Andrew our server could not have been nicer. I had steak salad, perfectly cooked and lightly dressed. H had NY Strip, also cooked exactly to order. Wait staff insisted we cut into steak and be sure. Dessert was strawberry rhubarb upside down cake. Grown and made by owners mom. Doesn’t get more local than that. Ambience was great. Dynamite local beer selection. Wonderful!

What a great addition to Norfolk! Stopped in tonight for a quick dinner– I had the Mac and cheese with bacon(delicious!) and my dinner companion had the filet. The filet was perfectly cooked and my Mac and cheese was BETTER than what mom used to make! :) Cornbread with honey butter was also outstanding. Portions were HUGE– bring your appetite. Prices were very reasonable as well. Service was friendly and prompt. Our server was knowledgeable and able to make good recommendations. Overall a great experience. I would definitely come back!

We were recommended this place by numerous friends. The place was very nice, clean, and had a good vibe to it. The servers were awesome and fun to talk and joke with. We had the chicken dish, which was very good. We are from Dallas and this restaurant would be one of the best there in my opinion. Did not expect to find something this nice in a small farm town! Bonus: we got free dessert!
