In a world where most Chinese restaurants are serving dyed yellow rice and calling it «fried rice» it’s nice to have a place that actually fries the rice! I can hands down say they have the best fried rice I have had in probably 6 – 8 years. All the other dishes I have gotten there have been good as well. :) But I don’t recommend the War Su Duck.

Pretty good– I went here because nothing else was open on Thanksgiving night. I typically go to yummy wok and get the general tso’s tofu. China Ocean is okay– I’d prefer yummy wok’s, but was grateful for China ocean being open.

Excellent food! The service was great and the girl working the front is a LOT friendlier than the Yummy Wok girl. I recommend this place highly!

Decent Chinese cuisine. Nothing really spectacular about this one though. The food is run-of-the-mill and rather greasy actually. I prefer another Chinese restaurant in the area for better quality.

Food poisoning. So sick I had to go to the hospital. Would like to start a movement to get this place closed, as I am pretty sure I was eating rat rather than chicken.

Some of the best Chinese in town. I’ve been on a mission to give them all a try. Vege are fresh and not over cooked. One of the few places that will make it spicy when you ask.

Where to start… I started off by giving this place a try due to the fact it was place in a good neighbor hood and it had 3.7 stars on Google. The restaurant did receive some bad reviews but that did not stop me. I ordered two types of chicken with fried rice. I first notice that the restaurant was about six dollars more than other restaurants but due to the area maybe it was worth the extra money. For two versions of chicken and fried rice it cost 22 dollars and it took around 30 minutes. Once I got home me and my wife noticed that the rice was really dark so either they over used the soy sauce or that the rice was reheated. The second problems was that the rice and chicken was not that hot. For them to take 30 minutes to give me my food, at least they could have microwaved my food. The final problem was no egg roll for that price. The food was not flavorful. I feel that everyone should give every restaurant a chance and this was that restaurant first and last chance.

This is not even mediocre food. It’s just bad. Crab Rangoon with little filling and way too think wontons. Sesame chicken that had way too much something(soy sauce, maybe?), even simple beef and broccoli was poor. There are much better places in this area that deliver.

I don’t normally eat Chinese food but me and my husband have a tradition of eating it once a year on holidays where we are away from our families. We went here last Christmas and today for Thanksgiving. Both times the owners have been very nice and the food was tasty. They even included a complimentary calendar with our food. We will definitely be back for our tradition!

Your typical strip mall Chinese restaurant as far as appearance and price but certainly better food than many I’ve tried. I’ll come again.

Consistently good food, and fairly priced. My favorite Chinese place in Ghent.

Ordered for me and my coworkers while at work. Quick service, brought us our food in less than an hour. don’t order the«brown rice» it’s just white rice soaked in soy sauce. The orange chicken was just general tso chicken with orange peels in it. The shrimp fried rice only came with 4 – 5 pieces of shrimp. The«garlic sauce» that came separately with some of the food was like a thick brown gravy with garlic. Way different than my chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce. My food was great buy I would probably only order again if everything else is closed/not delivering.

I am going to be honest and say that while China Ocean’s food was okay, it was pretty much interchangeable with Yummy Wok off of Colley… and YW charges approximately 10 percent less. Now granted I have only tried the Gen. Tso’s, pork fried rice, and egg roll here but for my money I am sticking with Yummy Wok purely because of the value. .

Okay for Chinese take out, but nothing amazing. They gave us the wrong order(for delivery). The Pork Fried Dumplings were disappointing(posted a pic up) and so was the Vegetarian Fried Rice. Garlic Chicken wasn’t bad. RECOMMEND: Garlic Chicken DONOTRECOMMEND: Vegetable Fried Rice, Fried Dumplings(meat inside was off), and the Vegetable Egg Rolls & Vegetable Fried Rice(seems like they have a veggie issue.) NEUTRAL: Crab Rangoons(not bad, but was overpowered with an immense amount of cream cheese compared to other Chinese places, and I hardly tasted any crab. The sauce was great that came with it though. Nicely shaped with a perfect amount of crispy crust).

China Ocean is legit. For takeout, it’s well worth your money! They have a million choices and all of them are good. I know this because I’ve eaten 5 choices so far, and I get to project how the other 999,995 items would taste… amazing

Wow… So, I haven’t ordered Chinese Fast Food in a long time and it is few and far between I find one that«wows» me. I was immediately greeted with a friendly«hello» by two people. I saw actual pictures on the wall of dishes unique to their business as well as the standard pics one would see at other Chinese Fast Food establishments. Everything looked clean and faces were pleasant. I was not rushed to order. I initially ordered the Shrimp Lo Mein and Crab Rangoon. The Crab Rangoon was perfect and got straight to the point. There was a significant amount of creamy filling. I like they use the thin wontons versus the thick. There was no need for the sweet and sour sauce. The Shrimp Lo Mein was pretty good! I enjoyed the many plump shrimp(for fast food Chinese) and the texture of the noodles. The noodles were definitely al dente’. This dish was not greasy and not too salty. I loved the veggies. I would have liked to see the onions cooked maybe 2 mins longer to make them just a little more sweet. It had the crunch but, was probably too strong for the standard palate. My cousin and I enjoyed the undercooked onions but, my other cousin thought it was too strong which I tasted as well. So, it is a matter of preference. For me, this is the 1st Shrimp Lo Mein I have enjoyed in a very long time. Flavors were balanced. I hesitated to order the dish I really wanted, SALTANDPEPPERSHRIMP, but based on reviews and Ping, the owner, discussing the dish w/me… I ordered it and am sooo happy I did. When it was ready, she allowed me to try a bite. It was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! The shrimp were mediums w/vein and super fresh. not frozen. I grew up around the shrimp business and believe I may have some credentials regarding fresh shrimp. hehe I feared the Salt and Pepper Shrimp were going to be too spicy or too salty for others I was sharing with but, they LOVED it. One of them doesn’t even like spicy food. I’ll definitely be ordering this dish again and dining in so it’s crisp and fresh! I even enjoyed the fortune cookie. Definitely not from the same distributor most of the restaurants get their fortune cookies from. I’ve already spotted several other dishes I’d like to try such as Jalapeño Chicken, Lobster Fried Rice, Lobster Lo Mein… Sounds so good! So, we’ll see! I’m also interested to see what kind of pancake they use for their Moo Shu… From the genuine, humble, and kind people that worked there/owned the spot to the food. Never thought I’d have such a positive experience ordering Chinese Take Out. but, wonderful things CAN happen.

Given that there are a bajillion fast food greasy Americanized Chinese food joints here in Ghent alone, I found it inevitable that I would eat at at least half a dozen of them. Unlike the rest of you who probably threw their menu out with the junk mail when they were trying to get you to try their food, I decided one day(when I was feeling a bit on the soy-sauce-me-up side) to try them out. Hey, what can happen? So what’s different about this place? Well, not much. Frankly, all the Chinese food places here in this area are about the same. I know of a few where people got food poisoning and other where people swear by their«less greasier» foods. What does make this place special is 3 things: 1. They have roast duck, 2. They have salt and pepper shrimp(it’s fantastic!) and 3. They made me oyster sauce beef even when it wasn’t on the menu(which, by the way, the other dozen Chinese restaurants didn’t do for me). They deliver… and quickly! $ 10 minimum delivery charge! Their lunch prices are $ 4.45 per dish and are served until 3:30pm 7 days a week.
