IHOP

So my best friend and I are looking for a place to eat on Christmas night. Between the two of us, somebody had the great idea of coming here… mistake one! We sit down and order, drink, talk… in that order! Food comes out looking pretty delicious. I had the country fried Steak meal while she had something I don’t remember. I do however remember waking up 12 hours later with both our stomachs needed to be evacuated ASAP!!! Two humans, one toilet… not a good look!
We both had eggs (which were very delicious I must say), bacon, and hashbrowns. So between the three of those I think something wasn’t cooked all the way or was old. My vote is the bacon. It came out looking… well…different! I should have sent it back. This one incident has turned me off from eating at any further Ihops across America! In addition, they need to check the hygiene of some of there employees. I saw one girl wipe her nose with her hand and then go back into the kitchen. Then some of the staff just look… well… dirty, dirty nails, hair not tied up properly, etc (not a racial thing either).
In closing… the moral of this story is… listen to your gut on how food looks, smells, and tastes when it is put in front of you, otherwise it will come back to bite you in the ass… literally!
2 stars only because the eggs were so good and the waiter was very nice.

Came here with my husband one night, first and foremost the servers are a bit dirty, gave us wrapped silverware the napkins they were wrapped in were dirty. Guess they don’t care after 1 am. Anyways husband order an app and the steak tips while I had an omelet with pancakes took 20mins after our meal came out to get the pancakes. That’s not the worst part two things tasted off their ranch and the hash browns and sure enough my husband had an allergic reaction. He’s allergic to penicillin, not a common thing when it comes to food, he can’t eat anything with mold in it… cooked yogurt he’s fine with. At least their milk wasn’t spoiled. Will never come here again, I rather not play Russian roulette with my husband’s life again. Last thing I want to worry about is if that meal will be his last.

We loved our waiter and the service was fast! My eggs were a little underdone, hence no 5^th star :/

Went there late Saturday night, and there were a good deal of people already seated, which was not unusual for this IHOP. Our waiter was busy with other tables but was attentive to us as much as he was able. Due to the area of this particular IHOP, just about every weekend you will see police officers in there near the entrance to make sure everyone is organized and that a potential fight does not break out. I’ve never gotten «poor» service here, but I’ve never felt inclined to return one way or the other.

I’d come back here! IHOP is one of those chains that always becomes a guilty pleasure, especially for their variety of cheapish breakfast food. We came here on a weekday afternoon and DANG this place was packed!!! I recommend coming expecting to wait a bit during rush hours, because there’s no way they can keep up with the volume of people.
We had to wait a while, about 30 – 40 minutes, for our food… But we had good service from our server in the meantime. I was hanging out with family from out of town, so I didn’t mind it too much.
I tried the chicken crêpe for the first time and OMG– I am a sucker for hollandaise, even mass produced kind hah. Really enjoyed our meal here! Especially compared to other IHOPs in the area.

I have ate at this restaurant twice in the last 2 weeks. I have been disappointed both times. Last week I ordered a BLT sandwich, the bacon was not cooked long enough and the toast was served cold and hard and crumbled at each bite. I could not finish it. Today my friend and I had pancakes, eggs and bacon with a side of toast. Much to my surprise the toast was served toasted and soft, the best thing on my table. How does a restaurant named The International House of Pancakes serve pancakes that are not cooked in the middle and taste like flour batter. I ate around them but my partner sent hers back. We were both totally done eating everything else including drinking our tea before they were returned. When questioned about where the replacement pancaked were our server said they are taking longer because you want them extra cooked. Really? She just wanted them cooked, not extra cooked. Anyway, 3 stars because the bathroom was very clean.

First of all I must add that all chains are pretty much the same. The difference is the service. On a weekend morning it was busy. There is so much staff that it makes the time from where you walk in to you walk out flow smoothly. We were seated (a party of 2) after a 5 minute wait. The first seating option we declined because it was close to another couple and was immediately given an option we liked. Our server Demetrius was efficient. I had the steak tips and they were delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. I must commend the manager on how great the breakfast service is every weedend. To borrow my husband’s Navy term it is «All hands on deck» mentality for service and it pays off.

The servers were very friendly and polite, and wasted no time getting us everything that we needed. Our table of two, plus one child, had the constant attention from the servers and at least three different people came by to make sure we were okay or to refill our drinks before we could even ask. The restaurant is very clean, and I would recommend it to anyone else in the area or anyone passing through.

An IHOP is an IHOP is an IHOP right? The food here was prepared how it should be so there are no issues there but it also isnt something to ooo and aww about because its pretty standard. The real show stopper here is the service. There was an IHOP close to our hotel on Battlefeild but they were packed (taking orders from people sitting in the waiting area) so we came to this one and received nothing but fast friendly service. Our waiter was Caprecia (I hope i spelled that right) and she took care of us as if we were her personal friends. I cant say enough about her.

Came here around 12pm. Of course this place is packed because it’s near a lot of hotels and Virginia beach. When my boyfriend and I arrived the place was packed so we were about to ask how long the the wait would be, and we were seated immediately because all the people waiting were in groups. Our waitress Shunda was very punctual and professional. My boyfriend’s bacon was a bit soggy and before she put the plate down, she told us she would go back and tell them to make it crispier. She made our experience here even 10x better!

Was there today around 9:30a to have brunch with my son. We got seated quickly and our server was amazing! His name was Dee. He took our order quickly, had drinks at the table super fast, and was very friendly! He even brought me a Sierra mist to go without me even asking for it! Needless to say, he got a great tip! I will return here. Thank you for a great experience!

Where should I start? I’ll start by saying this isn’t our first visit here, in fact its their 3^rd strike out.
Every time we come here the food is dripping in grease and it is a brown grease. Brown grease indicates the oil is older. I always end up going home sick. I have given them more chances than they deserve.
This time my berries on my criss cressant were still frozen. The lemon flavor in the middle was cold. It went from warm on the edges to cold in the middle. The flavor was good but the quality was bad.
Did i mention the floor was covered in food and not clean as well as the seats.
The chicken strips had barely any meat in them. They were 8.49 and i could have went to ruby tuesdays and pay 9.99 and get juicy chicken strips. There was no flavor to the chicken except grease. They weren’t hot they were sitting for a while. Very hard.
The dining area was not set up for wheelchairs. Yes the doorway is but there is no way someone in a wheelchair could get past the front door. If there was a fire no one would be able to get out. This place should be reported to the food department but then they would push tables back together just for the visit.
I waited today to publish this. I threw up because of their food. It also caused my husband and I diarrhea. I know previous comments said this was a great place but i have to say you have to have low standards to like this place.

I think the best time to review a restaurant is when it is at its busiest. This is when you see how the the stress level is handled. So what better time to go to IHOP than on National Pancake Day?
It looked like half of Norfolk was at this location. I asked how long the wait was, they said 15 minutes. There was no way it was going to be 15 minutes with all those folks waiting, so I set my timer. I stopped my timer at 14:19 (add about 30 seconds for me to set the timer. That was the first thing that impressed me.
We were seated and was greeted by our waitresses within a minute while she was taking food to another table. She came back, took our order, and within 15 minutes, we had our food. Again, this is National Pancake Day in a completely packed restaurant! This is the same amount of time as if there were 5 people in the entire restaurant!
The waitresses had 10 tables, and still had time to check on us regularly, and even took time to express her appreciation for us coming out and allowing her to serve us. and it was genuine!
EXCELLENT JOB IHOP! I was throughly impressed with the service!

…this is a complaint that was written to management…
For starters, I visited IHOP # 598 on February 18, 2014 after my Ash Wednesday Mass with my niece.
It was a pretty slow day as I’d say there seemed to be more employees standing around than customers dining in.
Upon being seated (at a table for 6 when we were only a party of 2, I made my way to the restroom to sanitize my hands. Our waitress (whom I was unaware of at the time) was complaining to another employee about not wanting to take tables because she doesn’t get paid enough.
About 5 minutes after returning to the table from washing my hands, «Nina W.» rudely greeted us and seemed to lack hygiene skills. Her hair was all over the place (which made me think twice about checking my food before eating it) and her uniform was sloppy.
She took our drink order (two waters) and came back after a while to take our food order. She didn’t bother to explain the current food promotions or anything. I ordered the Breakfast Sampler and my niece ordered an omelet meal. By this time, I was already out of water and she didn’t bother to bring me a refill.
Swear, about 40 minutes later… she comes back to the table with our orders, only, she brings my breakfast sampler and what looked like a chicken salad sandwich for my niece (when she ordered an omelet.) We quickly notified her of the mistake. She just walked away and came back with the correct order about 5 mins or more later (both of our food was no longer hot… it was more like just barely warm.)
Meanwhile, I still have an empty glass of water. I attempted to flag down the Manager on Duty but she was busy gossiping with the employees as she walked by I just gave up.
I finished my food and waited for the check. I took the check up to the front to pay. There was a Caucasian looking female (I believe her name was Kelly) at the register and she was having a hard time adding on a free short stack of pancakes from the survey to the customer’s bill in front of me. It took her FOREVER to figure it out and she had to get assistance from the Manager and the hostess (both older women.)
Since she was taking so long, a line started to build up and the Manager announced that she could process credit card payments. I was next in line and I was paying by card so I handed her my bill with my credit card and she was able to successfully process it. I was so pissed by this time I only left a $ 3 tip.
I go back to the table to get my niece and then proceed to walk out of the store when I her the cashier (Kelly) say to me «Ma’am, did you pay for your meal?»
Mind you, I just stood in front of her face for a good times minutes while her incompetent ass attempted to enter a coupon code. Also, please note that I had JUST left a church mass for Ash Wednesday AND I’m 31 weeks pregnant AND I’m with my thirteen year old niece. I literally turned around and replied, «What the F***, are you kidding me???»
I could not have had a worse ihop experience. I would have rather had hair in my food.
The cashier stares at me and I angrily respond, «I’m not sure why you’re implying that I stole my meal but yes I did pay.»
As I am walking to my vehicle in the parking lot I immediately start dialing that (757) 455‑2880 number listed on top of the receipt and of course no one answers. I called a total of two times and no one bothered to answer so here I am writing this complaint.
None the less, I plan to continue to share my extremely unpleasant visit with Ihop on review websites such as Unilocal,google, yahoo, and the BBB just to let consumers be aware of the horrible service this specific location provides (mind you, this I am a military dependent and this location is in the city where the world’s largest naval base is).

Came here at 11 p.m. Saturday. I ordered the t-​bone steak, hubby ordered a pancake platter. The food was okay (though the steak was paper thin and salty) but everything from the table to the menu showed signs of wear and tear and there were little specks of food on the signs (which is gross). Might come back if we are in the area and feel an extreme need for pancakes but will probably avoid the steak.

No complaints with my last visit to IHOP on N. Military Highway. I came in around 6:00 a.m. and the place was practically empty. I was seated promptly, and received my order quicker than average. I ordered the Bacon Temptation omelette It was ⁴⁄₅. I probably will try a different omelette next time. The buttermilk pancakes that came with it were great.
I was very pleased with the service. This will be my go-​to IHOP in Norfolk, even though I live closer to the 21^st Street location.

It was packed but the food was good. Place was clean. Waitress was really nice even tho it was busy. I would definitely recommend

IHOP is off the list! I don’t like places that keep prices the same but change the quality & portions. I would rather pay more & get what I expect! There pancakes are ½ the size they used to be and the now water down the syrup! I’ll stick with honest places.

Fast and delicious need I say more? Food was warm full of flavor and very enjoyable plus we had to wait only ten mins tops. I left definitely feeling satisfied

Went here for Saturday Morning Breakfast.
The positives:
My server was pleasant. She was quick to take my order when I didn’t see what I wanted on the menu. Food was quickly prepared; ample portions, good taste. Beverage refills were quick.
The negatives:
Well worn menu. Did not see some items that I had seen in recent visit at another location. (as I mentioned above the server handled my food request well.)
The free wifi did not work.
There was an obnoxious young couple that I think were still celebrating Friday night at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Both were speaking loudly, occasionally cursing, and at one point even started playing a mp3 player so anyone in the area could hear. Not only was nothing done to get these two to behave in a decent manner, but their server was also joining the loud conversation with them.
