Please take your business elsewhere. There are plenty of restaurants to go to. Do not waste your time at this whole in the wall. Take my word for it

Don’t think I will be going back anymore. The only reason why I went in the first place was because food is cheap. The produce is always about to go bad and personnel are very rude. Very small selection of foods to begin with. The only time they’re nice is because they want you to tip them. It’s mainly the baggers that are rude, one rolled her eyes at me because I said I didn’t need any help when she took my cart without asking me. And today one talked back to me. I’m not gonna tip 2 people for bagging my items. Believe it or not I don’t have all the money in the world and I have bills, they signed up for a job that just gets paid in tips. They should have known what the job entails. They should not get pissy with me! And I’m not the only one who gets treated badly either.

The commissary here in Norfolk hasn’t ever been a huge letdown to me, but I do make sure and stay away during payday. The produce section isn’t bad, and they of course have really great prices. I’m excited about their small organic section that they’ve started, it’s something that Langley never had when I would shop there. For me, the only frustrating thing is that this commissary’s aisles are literally flipped from the ones I’ve been to before(Langley, Yokosuka, Great Lakes), so it took some getting used to. As usual, they run out of certain items every so often, but it’s never been a problem for me. The service is pretty good too; I had a bag of bread that went stale within a day, and they allowed me to bring it back and just do a straight exchange for a new one. One thing I love about this place is the self-checkouts!!! Rarely have I ever had a problem, unlike Walmart or Kroger with their constant issues. I’ll keep coming back, definitely for the prices and their ever-growing organic and all-natural options!

The produce area is always in disarray and doesn’t look fresh. Surrounding area have unnecessary items that take up the aisles. The meat area is not properly spaced out and always banging into other customer carts. The personnel here are not friendly and frankly miss the San Diego commissary and would have though for being the largest naval base that this commissary would’ve been renovated… The bathrooms are always disgusting and the«lounge area» outside the bathroom is always trashed with coupons and commissary ads all over the place. Manager needs to take action and I’ve only been here for the last 4 months and every time I’ve been in it seems as if he or she doesn’t take pride in his/her work place. Strongly recommend to either train the people correctly or replace the old with new people who will make this environment clean, better presented, warm and inviting!!!

This one has improved over the years wine in the aisles so that you’re not banging carts together quite so often. Shelves are typically well-stocked nowadays except for holidays and perhaps in mediately following payday. Staff is a bit of a mix sometimes you’ll get the odd member working who has an attitude but on the whole most are courteous and helpful. Plenty of beggars here working just for tips. Unfortunately many people seem to be cheap on the tips even in the hot summer or the cold winter is there in n out helping with your bags. So give him a break and be at least moderately generous as they’re helping you get you warm material your purchase to your car. You’ll also note many of the baggers are becoming older and older retirees coming back to earn a little pocket money as opposed to high school students. My preference remains the Oceano for Little Creek commissary however, the location of this one is hard to beat.

Hands down WORST selection of any commissary I have been to. Everything is low quality, poor selection. I am looking for healthy, organic foods and this commissary just doesn’t cut it. They offer nothing for some one food savvy. I am really surprised because I thought being such a large base their stock would be more diverse. I am even more shocked that Hawaii commissaries have better options than a mainland locale! San Diego, Newport, Dahlgren, Ventura… all have better stock, better produce and better baggers. What went wrong here?

They have a deli order system in the produce dept right when you walk in. Place your deli counter order here and it will be ready by the time you reach the counter. The meat here is much cheaper than grocery stores and even Sam’s Club. Just make sure you dont go around pay days… eek! The shelves get pretty bare around then.
