I normally only stop here for quick packing supplies before I hit the post office, it’s just kind of drab, the employees are just there. not much energy and it goes with the blah atmosphere, the selection is s blah as well, I don’t not like this location I just wish its products were more up to date and the auto was a bit more upbeat.

Literally the slowest service ever. They really need to hire more people or set more people in the services center.

I only went there because a friend recommended them for printing services. Really nice and helpful employees! I walked in and I was immediately greeted by two employees. While walking down the aisles after putting in my print order, another employee walked over and asked if he could help me find anything. For the two items I needed, they walked me to each aisle and made a recommendation and asked if I needed anything else before moving on to the next customer. There was only one cashier so I did have to wait for a minute in line, but she was extremely nice and talkative while ringing up my items. The manager made a price match for me as soon as I asked. I will definitely continue using them.

Horrible customer service. This is my second day coming here because yesterday they took forever with very few customers. I waited in line for 25 minutes and i was the next person in line. I’m not sure what the big project was but there was no communication from the workers to the people on line waiting. Other staff members just walked around and didnt say much of anything or help the other workers. I’m back today and I’m still waiting. Its been 15 minutes now and while I am being helped, the guy whose name is Eddie barely spoke and walked around joked and took his time while completing my order. When I got my order, it was on regular paper and would be an extra service charge to cut them because they were two to a sheet. Just refrain from going there. Rude people and bad customer service.

I recently spoke to one of the customers at my job about these small, metal filing cabinets he needed to buy. He was wondering where he could purchase some, so I suggested OfficeMax. He said he was planning to go there once he left my job, and he also mentioned how he loved visiting OfficeMax because the employees there were super friendly (whether it was 9:00 at night or 10:00 in the morning). I asked him which locations he often visited and he mentioned this one, in addition to one in Virginia Beach.
Fast forward to this past Friday. My experience at this particular location was the complete opposite of what my customer described. I went in with my niece in tow to purchase a Micro SD card for my phone since my old one had run out of space. I walked in and headed towards the back of the store because I thought I remembered seeing flash drives, memory cards, etc. over there a while back. We eventually found them and I looked through to see what they had to offer. I ended up choosing one by Lexar for $ 49.99. My niece needed to go to the bathroom and I didn’t remember seeing signs for one in OfficeMax, so I told her we’d hurry and leave.
Picture this: I was always under the impression that guests waiting to check out at this location must walk over to the left side of the registers and wait until the cashier is done with the next customer (or at least that’s what my mother and I usually do when we go there). So basically the line starts to the far left and wraps around. There were no customers present when I walked up, but my niece and I went over to the left side anyway (out of habit, I suppose) and then made our way around to the only open register. There was a young woman standing there who didn’t look pleased to be there at all.
I was about to place my item on the counter when a woman walked up from the right side and then stood to the left of us to get in line. She looked pretty peeved. I said «I’m sorry, did we cut in front of you? Were you here before us?» She said nastily «Go ahead.» I was genuinely concerned because I didn’t want her thinking we were line-​jumping. Under normal circumstances, I would’ve said «Thank you,» but this woman was unnecessarily rude and to be honest, I didn’t feel like playing nice (I’d done plenty of that at work – hint hint to the cashier at OfficeMax – it is possible to pretend to be somewhat pleased to be at work or at least smile so bad reviews like this don’t end up on Unilocal). Anyway, I just put my stuff on the counter to check out.
I looked at the cashier and said «Hello.» She nonchalantly said «Hello» back. Then she proceeded to check us out. It was just downright awkward. She didn’t smile. She didn’t ask «How are you?» She literally rang up our items, stood there while I swiped my card, and stood there looking around while we waited awkwardly for my receipt to print. Complete silence. She didn’t need to try and sell me a darn printer or anything, but she could’ve said something. I was pissed. I’ve worked closely with customers at each job that I’ve had and while I did not always feel like going to work, I at least smiled at the customer because I had a job to do and I don’t think it’s fair to take whatever is bothering me out on them. Between the rude customer and the cashier, that checkout counter was full of negative energy.
Once I grabbed my receipt, I left. Honestly, I can’t even remember if I said «Goodbye» to the cashier. I just wanted out because again, the energy exuded from both her and the woman behind me was too much, and I couldn’t stand to be around it any longer. This has nothing to do with the review itself, but as a Cancer (yes, I believe our personalities are somewhat affected by our zodiac signs), I absorb the energy, moods, and feelings of those around me (unwillingly, of course), so when people are nasty or angry, it makes me very nervous and I just want to retreat. I was having a good day, got off of work early, and then BAM! I walked straight into negative nellyville. In a nutshell, both of those chicks were killing my vibe.
While OfficeMax is not responsible for the nastiness exhibited by the customer behind me at checkout, they do need to make sure their employees have some sort of understanding as to how their attitudes can affect their business.
I wish my experience had been as great at the ones my customer from work has had. He seemed very pleased with the service he received, but unfortunately, I cannot relate. In addition to filling out the survey that is printed on my receipt, I also plan to write to OfficeMax and let them know about my experience. What a bummer.
One star for the ease of finding the product I needed at a decent price, and one star for how quickly I was checked out. Everything else was a bust.

Do not get anything laminated here. They ruined my poster. On the plus side I don’t pay for lamination but the project I spend hours on is trashed.

ew. This place is horrible. Anything they have is overpriced and they don’t have most things! Better for you to shop online for your office needs. They do have a large array of papers, but not worth it. This store is located in the same group of store by Walmart on N. Military Hwy.
