Stopped in for breakfast on our way out of town. Really clean and cute inside that focuses on local artists. Good coffee, food was average breakfast diner style. Prices were good compared to other local establishments. Were seated by the owner which was nice. We weren’t blown away but this is a nice place with decent food for the price.

I have been here 2 times for breakfast. This is a great local spot for good food. The waitresses are always friendly and the food is good. It’s not fancy by any means but the food is good! This is a true neighborhood spot. Growing up in OV I feel very at home at this spot. The pancakes are great and they make perfect over hard eggs.

Great breakfast, lots of options on the menu, very friendly staff. There is no view of the water but it is just a few short steps away.

Ate breakfast here on the weekend and was pleasantly surprised. It was just as I expected for a beach diner. Lots of beach themed items on the walls and some really neat artwork for sale. This place was bustling, but they were still kind and efficient. A little bit of a wait(good breakfast places usually have one) but nothing too serious. Once we were seated, the wait staff was very friendly, attentive, and kept the coffee flowing. Keeping my coffee full is a big item at any breakfast establishment. Companion and I both ordered country fried steak. I got eggs, home fries, and a biscuit. She got the hash browns and grits. We are big breakfast eaters, and this place did not disappoint. A very good overall experience.

I ended up here because… you guessed it, Unilocal! Mothers day weekend breakfast was the time I went, thinking it would be slammed because I saw the great reviews, and they were indeed busy. We were a party of two and although there was a short wait we didn’t even have to do so but more than 5 minutes. Now the food; holy moly, so good! I ordered an omelet and it comes with two sides. That’s not even the exciting part– you can get pancakes as a side! I loaded up those puppies with chocolate chips and ate almost the entire meal! Hash-browns are definitely homemade here! *yum* A group of police officers came in and offered to be split into two table but the host/server(?) was more than happy to get them all sat together. Loved that! Great mom and pop, home-like feel. I highly recommend checking this place out!

In my opinion, this is the best breakfast place in Norfolk. We visit every week. Jeff, the owner, is friendly and only uses the freshest ingredients. The servers are friendly and professional. I like to sit at the counter and observe how they all work together. If you are having lunch, the Reuben sandwich is awesome! Sign up for their newsletters for specials. I hear the 50⁄50 burger is incredible!

This morning we were back in the Norfolk area and our first stop was the Sandfiddler. Our delicious 6am breakfast was again coupled with excellent service. My son was thrilled to be returning again and very excited that the owner not only came over to chat, but remembered us from our precious visit. I can say with 100% certainty that we will ALWAYS visit Sandfiddler when we visit Norfolk. Unilocal may only allow FIVE stars, but we give it ! I promise that you won’t be disappointed with the food, menu, service, and overall experience.

We went for brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The food was good, service was great, and the eclectic art they have is awesome. It will continue to be in our rotation of local places to eat. A must try if you want dinner food! Also, the owner seems very passionate about the restaurant and it clearly showed, he is attentive and involved with the daily operations, that in my opinion adds to my liking it even more.

I ended up at Sandfiddler Café(SC) about a month ago when my first choice was closed. My youngest son and I were starving, and SC was close by. When we arrived, we were immediately greeted by friendly staff, and the service was outstanding throughout. The place was busy, but there was an open table and no wait; the décor is kitschy beach diner but it works. 50÷50− This was a special that day – half beef/half bacon burger with more bacon, cheddar and an onion ring along with fries, drink and a huge cookie for $ 10.99. My youngest ordered this and loved it. I did take a small bite and the burger had an odd texture(not bad – just odd) with a taste of bacon. 4* Chicken and Waffles w/Raspberry Chipotle Sauce– This was probably the best C&W I’ve ever had mostly because of the sauce. They use chicken tenders instead of bone-in chicken since I know some of you have an issue with that. Personally, I prefer not to deal with bones on my waffles. The batter on the chicken was crispy and had a nice flavor, the waffles were light and fluffy, and that sauce! Man oh man! Raspberry Chipotle is a wonderful marriage of flavors and it was perfect with C&W instead of Maple Syrup. 5* I would love to go back to SC, but it’s a bit of a drive for me. I wish I could try out their breakfast menu, but honestly, I’d probably order the C&W again. It was a pleasant surprise that day and I highly recommend you check them out.

This is hands down my favorite brunch spot. I end up eating here at least 3 times a month. Man oh man I love the French toast! The owner always wears such a kind smile. Darn… Now I’m hungry for French toast.

Taking a break from a client visit, this local’s favorite was a great choice to land for a hour. The service was fast and friendly. It’s an all american diner like with your usual favorites. I enjoyed the crab cake eggs benedict. It was delicious, average in flavor, but certainly done well. The sweet tea was terrific! It’s a breakfast, brunch, lunch spot only! I plan to return.

Good way to start the new year, 2016, taking my daughter to breakfast. Service was very friendly & attentive. Portions were good, not too much & not too little. Pancakes however, two people can share one order. I love breakfast, I’m coming back.

I wish I could give it 10 out of 5! This place is great! The Sandfiddler is my favorite place when I am in Norfolk for breakfast foods. These folks KNOW how to cook. Most restaurants, when cooking omelettes, over cook the eggs, resulting in a mottled, brownish(and very dry) outer layer. Yuch! not at Sandfiddler Café! Their omelettes come out perfectly yellow, with the best stuffings you could ask for. And the sides are more than enough to fill you up. Almost reminds me of the old Frenchie’s on Tidewater Drive of years gone by. Anyway, this place is simply fantastic. If there is ANY downside, it is too small for the number of people that come in — they are ALWAYS packed. But believe me, it is worth the wait!

Such a perfect hole in the wall. I’ve been driving past it for well over a year now going to work. I wish I would have stopped in sooner because this place is amazing. Huge portions of good for really cheap. Very clean restaurant very friendly staff. Will definitely return with my family!

We stopped by Sandfiddler based on recommendations found on Unilocal! The experience and food really lives up to the reviews! Once you get passed the construction happening in the run-down looking shopping center where it’s located, you walk in to a cute little beach-themed establishment. Karen took care of us and she was a pleasure. Listening to her interact with other customers proved her southern kindness was real! She checked on us periodically but not too often to make it annoying or intrusive. I ordered the eggs Benedict with crab. Deeee-licious!!! If you’re not sure, just go for it! You won’t be disappointed. Friend had sausage, bacon, eggs, pancakes. That looked amazing and friend would have been very willing to try seconds if it wasn’t already so much food! I’m sure we weren’t the only visitors to the area but they certainly had regulars even if they may have been regular visitors for the week. How charming it was to hear and see them greet patrons by name! Jeff, the owner, checked us out and, I have to say, what a friendly and pleasant man! I told him how we came across his restaurant and he was thrilled to find out it was through Unilocal! Next time I am in the Norfolk area, I’ll be heading to Sandfiddler to enjoy another meal with Jeff, Karen and the rest of their crew!

Yes this place is at the end of East Ocean View Yes this place is in a tiny strip mall Yes this place is busy Yes, you will probably have to wait for a table But oh YES, it is worth the wait When we arrived I think we were #3 on the list, that’s not too bad. There were a couple of benches and a few chairs to accommodate the waiting. There are also about 6 chairs outside for waiting. After a few minutes of waiting the flood of people started coming in, so I would advise you to get there a bit earlier to avoid prime time crowds. The décor is all beachy of course, and everything has a price tag on it. I loved the fused beach glass framed mirrors. Adorable t-shirts line the wall in all colors. Had to get one of those. Alice was our waitress and she was just so nice and attentive. She was a Norfolk native, so it was great picking her brain on some of the old places which no longer exist. The menu had a full array of food at great prices. There was also a daily special board. Alice suggested the 50⁄50 burger, made of 50% beef and 50% BACON. Really? No way. WAY! We intended on having breakfast but who can possibly pass up something like this gift from the bacon gods, the 50⁄50 burger. Not only is this thing 50% bacon, it had cheese, more crispy bacon, an onion ring, lettuce and tomato. This 50⁄50 burger is only offered the second week of the month and once they are gone, they are not offered again until the next month. It was on the daily special board and we got the last one. That item was removed from the daily special board once we ordered it. It was like winning the burger lotto. The burger special also came with fries, drink and a big chocolate chip cookie for dessert. We decided we would just order the burger and split it. If we were hungry after the burger we would order something else. The burger of joy came and it was everything we were hoping it would be. Moist, delicious, bacon heaven sandwich of meat. They also serve you this little bowl of garlic mayo. That stuff was so good we dipped the fries into it. Alice said they make the garlic mayo too. The burger and fries were so filling that we had no need to order anything else. We had no tummy room for the cookie so we saved it for a later snack. Would I come here again… yes I would. I would almost move back here just to eat at this place on the regular. Thank you Alice for the great service and meal suggestion. You rock!

We love this place. Wish we had gone sooner as I’ve lived in the area ten years and never tried it as the shopping center looks a bit deserted. But this place is great. Not your typical breakfast diner — lots of nautical artwork for sale all over and fantastic food. Yesterday I had the eggs Benedict with crab cake. Delicious. The coffee was refilled constantly. They move quickly and serve as many folks as possible without a long wait which is great. Service has always been friendly. We will be back again and again.

Chicken and Waffles! I’m ashamed to say I’ve never had chicken and waffles, until I ordered it from Sandfiddler Café. Yum! The chicken tenders were cooked perfectly! I plan to go back and order it again! The service is fast and the staff friendly! Be prepared to wait a bit. They were packed!

Successful Unilocal recommendation. This is probably one of the busiest diners in the area. However, they know exactly how to manage everything and take care of their customers despite the busy scenario. In my opinion, this is also one of the best spots for Sunday brunch. You don’t have to worry about the parking space. At first, I was kind of confused because there are lots of things going. Hanging ornaments here and there. Arts and crafts seen in the wall. But its a decent place. Clean and well maintained. A friend and I, come here for brunch. I knew there will be que for the table because it’s also Sunday. Indeed, the que was massive but we were advise to wait for 20 minutes which isn’t that bad all. Anyhow, we got our table on time and directly assisted one of the server. I had the crab meat benedict served with hash brown on the side. Thought it was fine. The flavor was very complex. Everything perfectly blend. We also ordered 4 layer of carrot cake to shared with and I was blown away how insanely good it is. Probably, the highlight of my visit. Despite of the busy schedule, our server make sure that were both taking of. Hands down, the customer service is simply astonishing. I am not crazy though about this place but I would love to come here for another brunch. The food portion is well paid off. Your money is worth it. I highly recommend this place fellas!!! xxx
