This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Norfolk, prices are a little high but the quality of the food is number one! Garlic edamame are the bomb. The service is good. Good environment, I usually go with my husband once a month!

My husband and I have been here a few times over the last year. We went for dinner, lunch and take out. I unfortunately am not very wowed by this restaurant. Especially when there are so many other sushi options in the area. There was really only one roll my husband and I liked which was the double dragon roll I believe which has eel in it and it was 18 dollars!!! Which is kinda crazy for only one roll with about 8 – 10 pieces. When I came here for lunch I was extremely disappointed with the rolls I chose from. I ordered about three and didn’t enjoy the flavor in any of them. Nor the sauces they used on them. Probably the only thing I find decent here is their miso soup but when you order it for take out they put it in styrofoam coffee cups with no holder just in a bag and it’s REALLY small for the price. Like for $ 5 you get maybe four or six ounces. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re looking for a good sushi deal. It’s expensive, there’s no real atmosphere or vibe, it’s pretty small and the sushi is not worth talking about. We have stopped coming here since our multiple poor experiences.

This place has the best sushi I have ever had! Amazing, fresh, very flavorful! The Charlie Brown roll was to die for! Nice décor and great service also.

I’ve been to this location several times and I always have a good time. The hibachi is just as good as the sushi by the way. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is intimate. May not be the best place for a big group.

I usually don’t like most restaurants in Norfolk, but I do like this one! The food prices were very reasonable, the service was excellent, and the food was so good! I had the garlic lime edamame, salad, miso soup, and the hibachi chicken. All of it was so good!!! I took off one star just because the hibachi chicken dish could have had some more veggies instead of a million onions.

This restaurant it’s right next to my job, I been obsess with it ordering lunch box almost once a week! Price is great! Between $ 10 – 13 per box. I usually get the maki box $ 102 rolls of your choice, miso soup and salad. They are always fresh and tasty… Sometimes it’s a little hard to order by phone if ordering a few dishes, language accent can get a little difficult service is always nice and happy.

Sushi taste fresh and delicious. Great«safe» sushi place to go in Ghent. I wish there were more specials. Prices are too high. It can cost a lot to fill you up on sushi rolls. Also, we never know when the restaurant closes. The sign says«when the rice runs out» which is cute but, often we will be driving by and feel awkward to come in closer to 8 or 9 since there isn’t an actual closing time listed.

Soya is just ok. I frequent many sushi places and Soya isn’t a Stand out place. Their rolls aren’t very tight and they use too much rice in the rolls. The garlic lime Edamame is pretty good, but that’s about all that I have found that I like there also they are never really busy, that should tell ya something right there.

I stopped by here Friday night, after work but before dinner crowd time. They had a Groupon for $ 20 for $ 10. It was pretty dead in the restaurant and everything arrived swiftly. I didn’t see any rolls I really wanted, there were too many that had cooked elements or were going to come covered in mayo and ponzo. I chose the Chirashi, which was a very good deal since the portion was a hefty serving of sushi. I almost didn’t finish it! It was very nicely presented with some spinach and a couple flares with twisted fish. My fish wasn’t super fresh, since it left oily residue in the soy sauce, but it also wasn’t going bad. I didn’t really like the ambiance of the restaurant. It was pretty quiet and everything is white and boring. There didn’t seem to be much to endear it besides old liquor bottles up on shelves and in the fish tanks(some didn’t have fish). My waitress was ok, but I was switched for another gentlemen at the end of my meal since she was eating at the bar with someone else. Don’t get the Mizbasho sake, it’s lousy. Kind of in between sweet and dry, but not in a good way.

Eh, I’m not excited. I ordered to my house and I know the driver didn’t dawdle on the way from the restaurant to my house as you can track your order with the orderUp app. Therefore, there was no excuse for the off putting nature of the fish. 14⁄20 of my pieces of sashimi remain and I ate the oddly chewy kamikaze(spicy tuna) because I was ravenously hungry — my alternative would have been stale cereal.

Very average, fish wasn’t top grade, chewy rolls? Waitress was cool, restaurant was clean and modern Music was horrible, they were playing«love» from Pandora… at a sushi place.

Came here just by chance! Looking for a sushi next to us as we live in Granby street. Ambience and furniture is beautiful, cute place for a date night. Cost of sushi rolls is way above for what you get! I don’t believe there is a happy hour or any specials but for two rolls you’re looking at $ 25 and that’s not the most expensive rolls and I was still hungry after those two. The service is extremely slow even when it’s not busy not sure why it could be because there’s only one chef. Some sushi restaurants will come by and give a complimentary appetizer or something. We didn’t even get a drink order in they assumed we just wanted waters and brought those over. I chose three stars well the waitresses were friendly, restaurant is comfy we had Christina as our waitress she talked to us about the menu and what’s usually for lunch and I may just be back for the lunch specials. We tried the rainbow, Atkins, Monster, Neptune, salmon mango rolls, volcano and rainbow. My favs were the rainbow, Neptune and Monster, Atkins looked pretty but the flavor lacked all around.

Honestly, the pricing for this place was wayyyy too high. I asked for goya dumplings, udon noodle soup and some sort of shrimp tempura roll and it was close to $ 25 which is ridiculous. Broth was the best part of the soup, and I’ve had better sushi. Dumplings were really good though and our waitress was wonderful and so nice.

Went to Soya in Norfolk today for the first time with my mom. I was a little suspicious because it was completely empty! We went on a Tuesday around 1230, so I was expecting some type of lunch rush. Normally, when I see an empty restaurant I assume that the food will be less than appetizing however we decided to sit down and eat anyway. Our waitress was very kind and friendly and the atmosphere seemed welcoming but not too impressive. My mother and I ordered two miso soups, the Charlie Brown roll, The Lion King roll, and the volcano roll. Everything was excellent. We had no complaints whatsoever. The food came out in a pretty decent time but that was expected since we were the only ones there. The only issue I had was when I went to the bathroom. The bathroom looked overall clean, but the toilet seat had brown specks on it which was unpleasant to the eyes. It was not fecal matter or I wouldve complained. It was just weird looking spots resembling freckles. Overall the food was great. Rolls were on average $ 11/$ 12.

Soya is my absolute favorite sushi place in Ghent. Everything is fresh and the prices are great. The restaurant is beautiful and there are a lot of options for sushi and non-sushi eaters. Delivery is always fast, too. There are a few sushi places on 21st at but Soya wins hands down. Quality over quantity!

A nice spot for a quick bite. The rolls aren’t what I’d call classical sushi, but you can still get your sushi and sashimi fix here quite easily. It’s far enough off the beaten path(as much as Ghent is ever off the beaten path) to not be packed on a Saturday night, but it’s certainly not dead either. The winner for us was the Genki Futomaki — absolutely fantastic.

This is so far from sushi, I can’t. I wish I could remember which roll we tried. It was possibly a twice-fried fake crab and cream cheese stuffed ball, sliced and smothered in weird mayo mixes and tempura flakes. If you prefer sushi that is masked by design and an array of additives whereas it doesn’t taste a thing like fish or anything discernible at all, enjoy a meal at Soya. They always have a Groupon.

Too expensive for what it is. A simple menu with basically good tempura. Sushi rolls are way too overpriced! more expensive than a good place in Boston!(Which is an expensive city). Service was good even tho they gave us the worst look when we came in(the«owner» opened the door when saw us looking inside, we thought it was closed). A very«meh» experience. 50 bucks for 2 rolls, 1 appetizer and 1 entrée(plus tip).

Really not a bad experience. The service was great and super friendly. Though this was not the best sushi I’ve ever had and I wouldn’t recommend the New York roll because it was a little bland we did have one that was quite tasty. And really spicy. It’s called the Fireman roll(I think). The edamame was tasty as was the miso soup. We got the sea bass as a shared entrée and it was really good. Great flavor. It reminded me of a misoyaki butterfish though I did feel the bass was slightly overcooked. Regardless, the flavor was great.
