The Dawg Shack

Pretty yummy quick diner-​ish food. I personally love the hamburger (homemade). My dad loves their beef hot dog. The place is well kept and clean. The staff are warm and accommodating! Definitely a great place to stop in for a quick, cheap bite!

My 2d visit to the Dawg Shack. The first time I ordered the hamburger, it was good. This last time I ordered a ham and turkey club, very good. I think this restaurant has a good vibe and the waitress was very friendly and the food was served hot. My friends ordered the dogs and told me they were delicious. I like to think I am an onion ring snob, and the onion rings there were served very hot and the coating was crisp and fried to a golden brown. They were delicious! Great spot for lunch. Very clean and friendly.

When I walked in I got an old fashioned feel for the atmosphere. This place looked like it definitely has loyal customers. I was given a friendly greeting as soon as I walked in. It was my first time so I just asked for the special. Which was two chilli dogs and a drink, I was kinda turned off by the fact that it didn’t come with a side item and I had to pay extra for fries. The portions were smaller than I would have liked for $ 8 and the food could have been seasoned better. «The Works» hot dogs didn’t even have relish on it. The food wasn’t terrible, but it could’ve been a lot better (especially when compared to Perfectly Frank’s at ODU). I would return though because of the friendly atmosphere. I would just have to try a different food item, before I decide if I’ll become a regular. There seem to be a lot of people who enjoy coming here, so I would recommend everyone try this place for a quick lunch at least once for themselves.

First time eating here, gotta say loved the dawgs here. Nice chew, good snap, toppings fresh. The atmosphere was old school, the people were cool. I will definitely be back again.

The best Hormel dog in town! The staff are all very friendly and the diner is super clean! I’m so psyched! They have onion rings… a recent addition to the menu!

Great place to grab a quick lunch! They pay a lot of attention to the quality of their hot dogs. I enjoyed sitting at the counter and the warm hospitality of the owner and staff. The day I visited, it was a full house. Lunch was served very quickly and my drink was never less than half full. My only suggestion would be that they use a better french fry. If you are going to sell the best hot dog in Norfolk, why would you serve the cheapest french fry available? Overall, I would definitely return!
