Horrible delivery service and customer service. Will never order from there again!

First time I had Gourmet Gang was a catered meeting for work, years ago. And I still love it. I would always get the turkey and provolone. Then I branched out to the ham and Swiss. It’s on ciabatta and it’s a little smokey. But most recently I’ve discovered how amazing the roast beef and cheddar is. It has peppered bacon on it. Get the wrap. It’s easier to eat, as sometimes the bread can be a lot of chewing. Those are the top three sandwiches. A half size is huge. I would recommend. The chips are the kettle-cooked brand. The cookies and dessert bars are awesomely fresh. And this is the best artisanal sandwich shop I know.

My gosh do I love this place. I’ve never really had a bad experience here. The food is always on point(their bread is phenomenal) and the staff is usually friendly. I eat here once a week as I work downtown and luckily have never been greeted by long lines or mistaken orders! I usually take a later lunch break, which may have to do with this. I also really adore their décor. Highly recommend!

Food is phenomenal everytime. I usually order the Caesar Salad with Blackened Chicken. With a few extras to increase my palette. However its surely not needed. Delivery time to my job was slightly off but the driver was very pleasant once she arrived. Salads are always fresh and when placing the order, the voices on the other end are always right on point. Cant wait to indulge in another tasty treat from the Gang soon.

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our visit at this Gourmet Gang location. We ordered a Cobb Salad and Cajun Turkey Philly. They both tasted delicious. Though we would have liked it more if the sandwich was more more filling. From ordering food to receiving it the service was fast and friendly. We will be back again!

Best cobb salad in the 757. They have a wide range of fresh salads and sandwiches. Some of the items are too much for me but its a great spot.

Gourmet Gang has really got their act together. From catering to just regular walk in service. They have an exceptionally diverse menu for a «Sandwhich Shop» and plenty of staff to keep orders rolling out the door. Additionally, each week they add a little diversity to the menu with features items. Personal favorites of mine include the Sammie Whammie(a delicious concoction of ham, cheese, thousand island dressing and cole slaw) and their Cranberry Harvest Salad. The staff is always great and are quick to recognize and greet their regulars.

Great service two lunches in a row. Wraps were delicious and made quickly. Highly recommended for a nice lunch.

I love this place. First I would recommend that you order ahead, the lines can get long and the actual space is pretty small, only about 6 tables inside and 3 outside. I usually put my order in online, pick it up and eat it outside somewhere. I have had a bunch of different thing here and I love each one of them. Lately my new favorite is the mozarella sandwich, the ciabatta is soft and chewey and the basil mayo is delish. The pulled pork BBQ, the southwest wrap, and the southwest salad are also amazing. Last week I tried there daily special, smoked gouda and arugula with turkey on ciabatta. Wow these people have good taste. It was really perfect! I would also highly recommend them for big groups, I’ve used them when I need to put in an order for 20+ people doing a working lunch. Mind you, some of the people are vegan, some have gluton issues, It worked out really well, they were polite and had everything ready when I got there, no issues.

Gourmet Gang was one of my absolute favorite«go to» lunch spots during the week for a very long time… however over the past few months the order and delivery process has gone dramatically downhill and I’m starting to think it’s not a «fluke» situation as it has happened 3x this week… and this will be the last time I visit the restaurant — although the staff is very friendly(especially the woman with the long brown curly hair) and always willing to fix the mistake quickly, it’s just becoming to frequent for my return business. Here is an example: I met a long time friend for lunch yesterday I ordered the tempeh and avocado on multigrain he ordered the turkey sandwich on multigrain. I was delivered a turkey bacon cheese on white bread he was delivered turkey on white — the staff apologized for the mistake(understandably a simple mix up their lunch hours are slammed) and brought us our corrected orders freshly made and offered us free meal vouchers as a courtesy. I returned today to give the tempeh and avocado on multigrain another whirl — I got back to my office and the avocado that was on my sandwich was not ripe and literally like biting into a raw carrot. I called the manager explained what was going on she said she would have another one ready for me to pick it up… I went in to get it she had it nicely packaged to go for me… by this time my stomachs growling and I’m ready to eat and BAM — it’s on white bread. Sorry Gourmet Gang, as much as I love your vegetarian and vegan options I don’t have time to keep trotting back and forth across main street to correct wrong orders. My feedback is to work on attention to detail — customers appreciate fast and speedy service but a fast lunch puts a bad taste in your mouth when it is never the correct order. Best of luck in the future.

Gourmet Gang offers a great selection of sandwiches, salads, wraps and box lunches. My favorite is the mozzarella sandwich, but often I get one of their weekly specials. Each week, they feature a different pasta d’Jour, specialty sandwich, specialty salad and a vegetarian special. You can check their website to know what’s up for the week. Many times you will see people lining out the door for lunch. Try not to get there right at noon if you want to avoid the crowd. It’s a great place to eat if you are out alone for lunch because you can sit at the bar and stare out at the people by on the sidewalk. The catering is by far what shines. Almost every office orders catered lunches for meetings from Gourmet Gang. They deliver catered orders and their reliable. You can order sandwich/cookie trays or individual box lunches. I attended a wedding catered by Gourmet Gang and was blown away. The food at the reception was far beyond their lunch selection. They offered an eclectic and beautiful display of gourmet food. It was one of the only weddings I’ve been to where I can distinctly remember how delicious the food selection was.

For a good while, Laine and I frequented Gourmet Gang once or twice each week. I was hooked on their California Cobb salad and Laine on their Greek. Then, something happened… first, the Greek disappeared from the menu. We could not figure out why a restaurant would remove a Greek salad. Then, Laine had some caramelized walnuts in their seasonal strawberry and walnut salad that just were not crisp. For me, I was just Cobbed out! As we do every Friday, last week we drew from the magic envelope for Monday and what do you know, Gourmet Gang it was, GG for short. We journeyed over to GG on this fine, sunny day and ordered our salads. The Greek was back on the menu. They must have known Laine was coming. For once in my life, I stepped out of the box and ordered something completely different, the autumn apple and walnut salad. My salad of mixed greens, caramelized walnuts, white raisins and Granny Smith apples, was SUPER. It came with blue cheese dressing, which was the perfect flavor to add to this mixture. I’m pretty excited about this salad. I hope they keep it on the menu for a while(at least through our autumn season). I had checked the online menu before we headed over and their weekly specials are up to date. Good to know. Sometimes, I don’t think restaurants update their websites in a timely fashion, but GG does. There must be a good web master there. GG is back on our list. I have a feeling we will be in there again very soon. GG has a good variety of wraps, sandwiches and salads. They also have homemade cookies on hand. GG caters to many of the Downtown businesses and you can always find a large business crowd in the Downtown location. If you are limited by time, make sure to get there before noon. Some days, the line is out the door by that time. You can call or fax your order in as well. Calling in has been a success, but the one time I tried the faxing option, GG did not receive it. They did not make me wait in line though, as I brought a copy of the fax with me(Murphy’s Law — I’m always waiting for something to go wrong and like to be über-prepared for those chaotic times). GG is good to its customers. The folks there let you dissect and recreate a salad as many ways as you want to, which is huge for me. Alex Chances are, if you work somewhere downtown, your office has had a lunch catered by Gourmet Gang. They have an interesting business history, growing from a door-to-door sandwich vendor to their current restaurant/caterer/delivery service model. I like seeing an independent small business not only survive, but thrive, especially when it is headed up by a woman. Having worked in various locations throughout Norfolk and Virginia Beach, I have had lunches from several different restaurant locations. The food is consistent in presentation, preparation and freshness from each location. The Main Street location our current haunt. To be honest, I didn’t even know they had restaurants until I worked downtown. As Alex mentions, they can get quite packed at lunchtime with a line out the door for ordering and a line by the soda machine for those waiting on orders. This kills the ambiance for dining in. If you are seated at a table, someone will literally be standing on top of you while you eat. The menu offers a nice variety of sandwiches, wraps and salads. I am partial to the Greek salad, but I agree with Alex that their Cobb is extraordinary. Their portions are good sized for a salad and the ingredients are always fresh. Although there is a line to order, the food comes up fairly quickly once the order is placed. My salad on Monday was great. Their twist on the Greek is using sundried tomatoes vs. regular tomatoes. Their croutons are just okay, so I usually forgo them. The employees are very friendly, and I see the same ones over and over again. This is a good sign to me. The restaurant business can be quite chaotic, so it is nice to see happy, friendly people who apparently like their jobs. The food is prepared right in front of you, and these guys are really moving. Gourmet Gang is a safe lunch bet downtown. _Laine

I wanted to update my review since we used Gourmet Gang for catering for our wedding on 6÷7÷08. The Gourmet Gang did an absolutely top notch job catering our wedding. Lucy, the event manager was terrific to work with, very responsive to every request and helped me put together a creative menu that met our specifications. We thought we’d have a hard time finding a caterer since we wanted an all-vegetarian(mostly vegan) menu, and we definitely wanted our guests to be impressed with the food(for some this would be a first impression of vegan food). Plus we weren’t having alcohol so the food and drink had to make up for that as well. Gourmet Gang wowed all of us. We got so many compliments on the food, not one person asked«where’s the meat?», the food was top notch. They created a sumptuous menu of hors d’oeuvres: everything from crabless crab cakes with garlic aioli to tomato corn salsa to vegan sushi. The bruschetta bar was an impressive array of dips and spreads with assorted pitas and crostinis. In lieu of cocktails they created a signature drink for us: raspberry lemonade with fresh lemons, raspberries and mint leaves. YUM! The presentation was gorgeous, the staff was courteous. The wedding was held outdoors in 101 degree heat, and the staff coped with it flawlessly, brought the food inside the building and no one was ever the wiser that it should have been set up otherwise. The staff also set up all our tables, chairs and rentals and when an invoice came back from the rental company for some broken items, Lucy took care of it immediately. I would very highly recommend Gourmet Gang for any event you have. They cater everything from small meetings to huge events, plus their deli locations have delicious lunch options as well. I visit the downtown one frequently. 5 stars. Contact:

Interesting sandwiches, fast service, and good bread make this place stand out. Lower prices(about $ 6 per sandwich, or $ 8.50 for combo), however, hinder eating on the cheap. The dining area is also somewhat cramped and noisy. Overall, a good bite for a grab and go sandwich.
