Very nice hotel, excellent staff, the pool is amazingly warm for the kiddos and the gym is perfectly adequate for me. Decent location, easy enough to get to things and not too far from the highway. Very reasonably priced for what you get. The only thing making this a not 5 star review is the internet/wifi speed. OMFG is it bad. It doesn’t seem to matter where you are in the hotel. I stay here several weeks in a row and being a platinum elite rewards member gives me the premium access for free now. It is provably not one iota better than the standard service. I’d bet this is a mix of it being an expensive system upgrade, and some corporate slug at home office trying to hold onto their margin through pretending the 90s are still with us via paying for movies and phone calls. Everything else, though, is great.

This is a perfectly fine Courtyard Marriott property. I stay in hotels 100+ nights per year and this one is similar to most other mid-level hotels. The only thing I don’t like is that this hotel doesn’t have the Gold/Platinum perks of the Marriott in nearby Uptown Normal. That hotel has a concierge lounge with free soda/water, free breakfast, and apps/desserts at night. This Courtyard has their Bistro option which doesn’t offer anything for free. The rooms and lobby of that other hotel are also much nicer than this one, plus that hotel has garage parking, while this courtyard has outdoor parking which is a bummer in the winter months. The front desk is friendly and efficient like most Marriott properties, thought they don’t currently have the mobile check-in option. Their gym is small with two/three treadmills and one elliptical and various dumb bells. All in all, this is a fine option, but if costs are similar go with the Marriott in Uptown Normal.

This is one of my go-to Marriott properties in the area — along with the newer Marriott in downtown Normal. The staff is very friendly and you can tell that the management is very engaged in the quality of their hotel and their guest’s experience. The rooms are nice and comfortable — some things are a little dated. The location is also great — close to several dining options, and not far from either of the State Farm campuses.

Kind of a mixed bag during my 2 night stay. The lobby is very modern and they have a sitting area with a television, chairs a couch, etc. if you want to get out of your for a bit. There is also a small lobby bar, tiny would be a more accurate description. They have a popcorn machine against the wall that you have to walk past on your way to the elevator. I thought that some popcorn sounded pretty good until I tried it. It was stale and some of it was a little burnt. Ugh. The room was clean and comfortable, but when someone checked into the room above mine, I could hear practically every step they took. The floor was really creaky… I noticed it the next morning while I was in the hallway… I could hear people walking in the hallway above me. My check-in experience was odd. The girl who started checking me in was doing fine but one of her co-workers insisted on stepping in and he seemed a bit confused. When I received my bill under my door, it was wrong. I stopped at the front desk to explain the mistake and a super friendly lady figured out what had happened in about 5 seconds, offered to email my corrected statement to me so that I didn’t have to wait and I was on my way. I got the Marriott points for my stay and I’m very close to Platinum status in their rewards program so you can bet I’d stay here again if I’m in Bloomington, IL.

Nice, comfortable and convenient. Friendly staff. Very nice, basic place to crash in Normal.
