Loving it that we finally have little French restaurant serving crêpe in BloNo area. Price are amazing! Great lunch combo special too $ 9 for sweet crêpe & savory crêpe plus a drink. That’s amazing price combo. Now all they need is to make French macaroon to complete our French food affection.

Oh, my! Delish! I had the Fromage and the Tour de France. Ate desert first! The fruit, Nutella, coconut combo was wonderful on the TDF and, although the Fromage is «only» tomato, cheese and seasonings, the crêpe put it over the top. Very large portions. Wish I had this place back home, in Denver…

Stopped in with 3 of my teammates after a hockey game at Illinois State. We were really pumped that they were open late, as our game wasn’t over until about 11pm. The place is tiny, but they really didn’t need much space for what they had going on. 2 hot plates and one girl behind the counter making crepes — awesome. I had a nutella/banana crêpe and a turkey/tomato/cheese. They were really tasty, but not the BEST crêpe I’ve ever had. Fairly priced too(about $ 3 – 5 a piece). I wish we had a cool place like this back home. Great late night stop(I think they’re open until 2?) that I would definitely recommend.

Amazing. Simply amazing. Drive as far out of your way as you have to just to come here. This guy learned his trade in Paris and it tastes it! The crêpe itself is a tissue. Light, flakey, lovely. A must see! A must taste!

I was visiting Normal for the day. Found this restaurant on Unilocal and made sure to stop in for a late night snack. I can’t believe they are open until 2:00am. I loved my crêpe. I was looking for sweet rather than savory crêpe filling. All of the sweet crêpe combinations sounded great. Plus, on their menu, it lists«Make your own». That wasn’t necessary for me. I chose their nutella, banana and strawberry crêpe. It was fantastic. It was fun watching the employee make my crêpe. Sure way to see that they use fresh ingredients. I hope this place does well enough that they can expand or move to another location to create a restaurant with seating.

This place is soo good! Me and my boyfriend went and we loved it. I got #1 which was the cinnamon sugar crêpe and he got the Nutella crêpe. I love the fact that this opened up right on campus. It’s an awesome after class snack :)

We wanted to try a totally new(to us) place for My husband’s birthday breakfast. I found Crêpe Geeks on Unilocal and based on the reviews, had to try it. All I can say is oooh-la-la! The crepes were delicious with fresh ingredients cut and put together right in front of you. Service was quick and friendly too! We had to try something from the sweet and something from the savory menu so we ordered a few crepes and shared them. They were ALL amazing! If you like sweets, I totally recommend the Tour De France: Nutella, bananas, strawberries, coconut, Grand Marnier and whipped cream. Yum!!!

Delicious crepes and aesthetically beautiful. Very friendly service. Both sweet and savory crepes are amazing. I highly suggest coming here.

Tasty food prepared meticulously while you watch at a great price. I had the Legume — which is one of the vegetarian options. I also tried the sweet one w/sugar and drizzled with Grand Marnier. They are wrapped perfectly for eating while walking around Uptown. Great little place!

The crêpe’s we had were great! Wishing they stay in business long enough to get a dining area, that is a negative.

Delicious! Had the legume with cheese, corn, mushrooms, tomatoes and black olives — tastes like a pizza but not greasy. Also had the Tour de France with Nutella, strawberry, banana, coconut, grand mariner and whipped cream — it was great too. These are huge! I was stuffed afterwards.

Totally geeking out over these crepes. Seriously, if you like a mix of sweet and savory in every bite, you need o try at least one crêpe from here. The crepes are very cheap, but they have fresh ingredients and are filling. Specifics: tiny place, no where to sit, but that’s completely fine because the location is great-within walking distance to the ISU quad or uptown circle. The food is portable and easy to eat on the go. Definitely a fast casual feel! I had the legume savory crêpe that has corn, cheese, black olives, tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was the perfect combination of earthy, sweet and salty tastes. I will order this again. I also ordered the banana and Nutella crêpe. Keep in mind these crepes are huge; I didn’t know that when I ordered two of them! There was what seemed like an oil slick of Nutella and a full banana in this crêpe. I would suggest eating this when you order so the Nutella doesn’t harden. All in all, this place is perfect! Eat here! Ps, plenty of vegetarian options.

#7 The Versailles Reasons why I said that it was one of the best things I have ever eaten: He has a slicer in the back where he cuts this succulent turkey. Like literally the best sliced turkey I have ever had. He uses 2 perfectly cut slices; more like steaks. He layed 3 large wedges of bright red tomato that actually tasted like something. It was like a breath of fresh air. Oh and he made the egg so cool. He put a slab of butter in front of my crêpe not on top of it. Last time when I ordered the #1 with just butter, sugar, and cinnamon, he put butter all in between the crêpe while it was cooking and it was just too soggy. Perhaps he has refined his methods because the results are extraordinary to watch. He cracked the egg over the cooking crêpe, only to then patiently slide the egg in to the bubbling butter ahead. It really was a great looking egg, and he joyfully spiced it with salt and pepper. Let’s talk crêpe and cheese. This is where I really found it to be comfort food. Imagine with me a natural tasting McGriddle sandwich. Disregard the sausage or bacon often attributed with it and you get the sweet pancake like bread, with a thick slice of melted cheese. This same guilty pleasure is represented here. Somehow the turkey melts perfectly in between the cheese and soft, sweet crêpe. It comes in a nice size and arrangement that allows you to have bites with just turkey and cheese, egg and tomato, and of course all together. I really sat back and knew this was worth writing about because you don’t really expect small businesses to put out such a powerful product. It’s right next to Watterson and all I had to do was hand him a $ 5 bill. Worth.

This place is certainly a hole in the wall — I only knew to look for it after a friend told me about it! The fact that there is no seating at all is a real hindrance, too. I can only imagine how awful that must be if there’s any kind of line! Thankfully, I didn’t have to find out firsthand; at 11:45AM, we were the only ones there. My partner & I went for a late breakfast/early lunch; he ordered the #6 savory(ham, egg & cheese), while I got the #5 sweet crêpe(Nutella & banana). Mine was nothing special, but his was delicious — the savory crepes are where Crêpe Geeks truly shines. The menu on the sweet side is also incredibly limited(combos of chocolate + bananas, strawberries, &/or coconut), especially considering how other restaurants that *don’t* specialize in crepes can do fresh mixed berries or sweet cream cheese. Watching them be prepared was an interesting way to pass the wait, and we knew both the crepes and my coffee were made fresh as a result. I would caution patience, as the guy had some trouble figuring out the Unilocal check-in promotion(free coffee with order of sweet crêpe). I would come back, but next time I’d stick to ordering from the savory side and skip the free coffee voucher; the hassle of getting it redeemed wasn’t worth the 99 cents of coffee I got out of it.

The proximity of Crêpe Geeks to campus is a definite plus. I was able to trudge over there with a few friends on the snowiest of days. We ordered a mix of sweet and savory — two Montpellier(strawberry & nutella) one D-Day(ham, cheese & tomato) and one Legume(mushroom, cheese, tomato, corn, olive). While we enjoyed the savory crepes, the Montepellier left a lot to be desired. The taste was very one note(the tart strawberries were overwhelmed by the Nutella) and the crêpe was overall too thick and sweet, almost like eating a thin layer of cake. The physical location is completely void of ambiance at this point and could use some color. My suggestions? 1) Cut the menu down. Offer maybe 5 sweet and 5 savory options and do them really well. 2) Spruce up the ambiance of the shop. A few photos/a little paint can go a long ways. 3) Add a little extra flavor to the sweet crepes to make sure you are hitting more than one flavor profile. Some options might include citrus zest, cinnamon, kiwi, pineapple, etc.

Crêpe Geeks is a small hole-in-the-wall that opened in January 2015 just south of Waterson. There’s no seating inside but I wonder if they’ll have a table outside in the summer. The menu is straight forward sticking mostly to crepes and panini-style sandwiches. We had a ham-egg-cheese savory crêpe and it made for a great shared snack(about the size of a New York pizza slice but a bit thicker). It’s made fresh to order and there’s a Unilocal check-in special that gives you a free coffee with a sweet crêpe and free can of pop with a savory crêpe. The owner was cooking when we were there. While waiting for our crêpe we asked about how they came up with this idea. He said that he had spent time cooking in France and came up with the idea there. He lives in Indiana and comes to town Friday through Sunday to handle the busy time. I’m looking forward to going back to try some of the sweet crepes(banana nutella is up next for me). Check them out.
