Kim’s Alteration Shop

I had an emergency! I was in my best friend’s wedding and I had a suit that just did not fit. It was bought for me from overseas, and I guess the guy that bought it thought bigger was better. OH BOY! Not to mention it didn’t come in until 4 days before the wedding, so I had little time to get this fixed and ready to go for the big day. Luckily I saw this place online when I was looking for a tailor. I had the best experience with them. Everyone is very calm, and they were understanding with my situation and got my order rushed with no problem. I was a little worried since so much of it had to be altered, but when I went to pick it up I was amazed at how good it looked. It was a totally new suit… that FIT. They have a changing room and mirrors to make sure everything is good, and the owner is such a nice lady she personally comes out and inspects everything with you. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone needing a suit altered. They only accept CASH or CHECK so keep that in mind when picking up your item.

As other Unilocalers (and anyone who has lived in Norman for any appreciable length of time) knows, Kim’s Alteration Shop is as good as it gets. Kim does fantastic work, is always on time, and charges reasonable rates. I’ve had alterations done at large national chains when I buy suits from them, such as Dillard’s. They charge as much or more as Kim for far inferior work product. When you can get great results for a price that is equal to or less than the national places, it’s a fantastic deal. It’s always better to keep your money local, but when it’s the cheaper option it becomes irresponsible NOT to keep your money local.
My favorite thing about Kim is that she is honest. If she can’t do what you are asking, she’ll tell you. If your piece of clothing is beyond repair, she’ll tell you. She very easily could take the garment, and your money, and perform some shoddy job. Then, just turn the garment back to you and say there was nothing she could do. But, she’s honest. Her honesty and great craftsmanship are why Normanites have been coming to her for many many years. If there’s a better place to get clothing altered, I’ve not found it. Can’t recommend this place enough.
PS As others note, Kim only takes cash and check. No credit cards. So, don’t get caught unable to pay for your gear when she’s finished.

Kim is legit. Kim is super friendly. Kim is diligent. Kim is open on Saturdays. Kim does a fabulous job. They have a couple of changing rooms for you.
Only negative is that she only takes cash or checks. REMEMBER THIS POINT.
Other than that, man, I’ll wrap up this review. I usually like to give details, but I mean, she’s awesome and this is the best place in Norman for alterations.

Does great work and very affordable. I have to agree with what everyone else here on Unilocal has said, she is awesome and does a fantastic job. Only place needed to come for a hem, or more. Wish she took cc’s but regardless of that, she is well worth trusting your garments with.

I came here to have a dress altered for a wedding I had to attend. Brought it in to Kim on a Monday and she asked me when I needed it done by. I told her Friday and she had it done on Friday as asked! The dress looked as it did when I first brought it in to her, it just fit so much better! Great service!

Kim is a saint. I’ve been going to her since I moved to Norman to go to OU (7 years ago). She does very good work. All of her alterations are professional and clean. Her prices are affordable and work is punctual. She remember everyone too! I had not been to see her in over a year and she still remembered me. Many of my friends who have moved to Dallas still make the trip to Norman just to see Kim.
She will do whatever you ask her to with any article of clothing. If you ask her opinion on something, she’ll be frank and honest. My suits fit properly now. My jeans are always the perfect length. My dress shirts and fitted and not baggy.

Best woman ever. She can do anything for you such as hems, adjusted waistlines, and the minor alterations. Whatever she does, her staff and her make it look like it came that way. Advanced seamstress for sure.

I came into Kim’s because I was on my way to a wedding and the button on the back of my dress popped off!
I grabbed it up and looked for the nearest seamstress (using Unilocal of course) and this angel came up!
A couple of nice guys let me talk to Kim before them — extremely grateful since I was already running a little late. I let Kim know what had happened, and gave her the button and she happily attached it for me right then — for no charge! I was so happy I could have hugged her!
I hadn’t ever been into an alterations shop, but it was everything I would have expected. Small fitting rooms, a little waiting area, a large work room that you could see through a order window with tons of clothes that she was working on.
While she was working the guys there waiting told me that they always have her work on their stuff because she always gets it just right. If I’m going to need anything serious done, I’m definitely going to come here!

I had an interview I had to leave for on Friday, I bought the suit in on a Monday. She told me I could come by and get it on Friday afternoon, I scrunched my cute little face up and explained to her my situation. And she instructed me she would have it done by Wednesday by 3pm!
When I put on my suit for her to mark, she was quick, less than 2 minutes. She did a blazer and pant set beautifully! I would definitely go back to her if I had anymore tailoring to do for my clothes.
When I got my suit back it was as though I bought it off the rack, they were able to keep to the original seams and they made it really nice. The price wasn’t bad either considering I made her rush, if I remember correctly it was about $ 30, I gave her $ 40 and let her keep the change for getting it ready for me so early!

Kim rocks! If you are looking for a great tailor, you’ve got to go here! I’ve had everything done from cuffs on dress pants to waists on khakis. I like my clothes to fit well & Kim was able to do a superb job on all of it. My fave is her ability to take the hem in on my designer jeans from the inside so that the original hem stays intact and you get to keep the washed &/​or frayed look! (Nothing worse than a pair of jeans with a completely new hem.)
She has a reasonable turn around time (and will put a rush on it if needed) and great customer service. I wouldn’t take my clothes anywhere else!!!
