2016 update Lord. Midway takes all my money and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The owner is always there and just the nicest, always striking up conversation, so it really makes me not mind spending a little more because I want to support great local businesses. I’ve tried several sandwiches, the Arnie, Ranchero, Vulcan. All best sellers and all delish but the Tiger steals my heart. The sweet chile mayo is so good and shines with just turkey and cheese! Parking is still crazy when school is in session, I recommend going around 11 and getting a sandwich to go! Also when you walk in, head to the counter on the left and fill out your order. Yes to the cookies. Yes to everything.

I discovered this little gem tucked in between the cute cottage style Norman houses during my final year as a student at OU. Even though I was late in the game, I took advantage of this charming, truly local lunch spot. Even my mom approved this college town, hole in the wall sandwich shop. After OU I moved away then moved back to OKC, forgetting about this little sandwich nook in the center of town. I rediscovered it this fall when under the parental pressure of we’re coming to a football game with the family and need a place we all can agree upon. I can’t believe I forgot but I’m so glad I remembered.

Charming old-fashioned lunch spot. Outside dining, friendly service, local hangout. The Frito chili pie was a little greasy and milder than I expected. The prices were a little bit more than I typically pay for lunch.

I love Hollywood Corers. So imagine my delight when I discovered that I could get the exact same menu only 5 minutes away from my house?!? SCORE. My favorites are The Tiger and their pasta salad. Dear sweet lordy have mercy on my food-soul. The chili is the secret to this entire business, as far as I’m concerned. Everything has their sweet chili mayo or has the chill in it. It’s amazeballs. The food is always fresh, and made before your eyes. Oh, and you MUST have a maple pecan cookie. It’s a necessity. Just in case you’ve never been before,(I was confused.) Go to the far counter and fill out your order. They’ll call your name or deliver it to your table – then you pay when you leave.(Don’t be standing around awkwardly like I was. o. O)

Awesome little neighborhood deli. Sandwiches are delicious, seemed to be better ingredients — fresh, high quality etc. A nice find!

Nice, chill neighborhood deli. Don’t tell too many people about it because part of its charm is that it’s a secret. Sandwiches are fresh and they have a lot of variety. I like to sit out on the patio, it’s very peaceful.

I am in love with this place. Absolutely in love with every single tiny thing about it! The sandwiches are sooooo simple, yet so amazing! The potato salad, is insane. It is the best potato salad I have ever had in my entire life! The atmosphere is so cozy as well! It is an old grocery store, re-made into a deli. It is very hipster-ish, I love it! YOUHAVETOTRYTHISPLACE! It looks a little run down, but it is a must!

This is a cute little grocery/deli in the middle of a quiet neighborhood just north of Campus Corner. The sandwiches are decent, nothing spectacular, but still good. The potato salad is ridiculous! Would go back to try other options.

Such a cool little neighborhood secret! My husband and I have ridden our bikes to have lunch here twice thus far, and both experiences were way rad. Laid back, hip and at the same time old town-ish atmosphere. Quick service. Fresh food. Good price. Local. Being vegan, I got the ‘veggie everything bagel sandwich’ and it was delicious. Fresh lettuce, pickles, banana peppers, avocado, and tomato on a fresh, soft bagel. Absolutely love it. My omnivore husband gets the ‘Volcan’ bagel sandwich which consists of turkey, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, with chipotle mayo. Apparently, it’s a local favorite and he most certainly agrees! We are definitely fans of this small, yet magical joint.

Love these kinds of places! Very local with very good food. Recommend the home made carrot cake for dessert! Local owner with care for each and every customer.

This place is a really cool deli near downtown Norman, right in the middle of a residential area. I’m not sure why it’s called Midway«grocery» because I don’t really think you can buy any groceries. If you’ve never been before, it may seem a little weird and overwhelming because of how small and casual it is. I can see how Claudia C. feels like there’s an «insider» vibe. I venture to say, it might have a real«hipster» feel. However, once you get over the awkwardness of it all, the food is really wonderful and I enjoy the casualness of the whole experience. On my last visit, I ordered a TBS and it was delicious! Perfectly toasted. Quality ingredients. I’ve had the chili from here as well and it is YUM. I know that a sandwich is a sandwich is a sandwich, but Midway seems to put that extra little somethin’ somethin’ into their food that really makes the difference. They have a small patio out front and I usually like to sit out there is the weather is nice. Midway has a real small town feel, and sometimes in Norman, especially when the semester is in full gear and students are EVERYWHERE, the local small town deli vibe is just what I’m looking for.

The soup at this place was recommended to me when I moved around the corner from it in December. I went in for the first time this afternoon and got half a sandwich and a cup of soup, it’s too bad I waited so long to try it. This afternoon they had Vegetable Beef & Barley, which the owner explained they started last night with chuck roast an dry barley. It is delicious and it will be truly difficult to go back to my emergency can of Campbell’s. The sandwich was also good, I tried The Arnie. If you don’t like mayonnaise like me, be sure to tell them because they’re pretty generous with the condiments. Since it was my first visit, I also got a free chocolate chip cookie. The cookie alone is enough to keep me coming back. In addition to sandwiches and soups, they also listed pasta on the blackboard and you can build your own sandwich as well as select different combos. Like others have said, it isn’t really a grocery. I didn’t see an convenience type items either, except for some drinks and six-packs. You can do take-away or there are plenty of tables to accommodate different sized groups. I’m not sure about the hours, but it seems like when I come home in the evenings, they’re already closed so I think it’s lunch-only. It is a cute place that makes me like the neighborhood even more, plus it’s a great change from the chains/campus corner options.

This is a great little neighborhood deli. You can create your own sandwich — fill out a sandwich form on the counter so your sammy is made to your specifications — or choose from one of their pre-designed options. They also have a different soup each day to accompany their chili, which is available everyday. Although I have not yet tried it, they also serve breakfast. The service can be a tad slow when they get busy, but that’s okay with me. Just be sure you budget a bit of extra time when going there over the noon hour. I will definitely be going back to Midway again and again.

Okay selection food-wise, and good soup. But it has a real insider vibe and feels very cliquish. I can’t go in here without hearing rumors about something-or-other around town. Nice if you’re in the in group, but otherwise…

I hear Midway is now mostly a deli now, and less of a market… But growing up this was THE neighborhood market for my family! We used to walk here all the time and get convenience foods or meat from the deli. They also had great sandwiches, if I remember correctly. This place has so much history, and I’m so glad to know it’s still around! I’ve heard from many people that the food is still great, and the crowd is full of locals, which is cool. Yay, Midway!

The Midway is this really cool little piece of local history a color that has been artfully preserved as a deli. It’s an old corner market from probably the 30’s or 40’s that now serves as a deli and market. Has great atmosphere and is worth checking out.
