Sooner Legends is a fabulous place — a night away or a night on the town. My favorite is burger day on Wednesdays! They have catered my local Chamber lunch several times over the years and it is always delicious. Hotel, Restaurant, Bar & Catering — they cover it all. Looking forward to my next dinner there. And even though I’m not a die hard Sooner fan, I do enjoy looking at the awesome collection of memorabilia in the restaurant.

Great food, great service and great prices. You can’t go wrong here! Be sure to check out Val’s fried chicken night and the BBQ. Great chicken fried steak, too!

Bleed crimson and cream? This could be the place for you.(Of course, if you try the famous red velvet cake, you very well *might* bleed crimson and cream. The cake isn’t a little sliver of fame; it’s nearly a quarter of a 3 layer dense and bona fide red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Feeds a family.) The hotel itself is jam-packet with memorabilia and might make you a little queasy if you’re not a die-hard Sooner fan(spoiler– I’m not). For those who are, this may be the most exciting place to stay in Norman. For the rest of us, well, this is what Sooner fever looks like. Amenities are standard. It was a decent hotel for a couple days’ stay. Hot buffet breakfasts have normal fare(some days sausage, eggs, and pancakes; others, bacon, biscuits, gravy) and filled us up for the morning of classes we had ahead. Most in my party chose not to socialize in the restaurant/bar area, as it was entirely too smoky. That made it difficult to find on-site places to socialize and collaborate for work. Nevertheless, the cake and the team merit the name. Boomer!

I love this place. The accommodations are great and the facility is very clean. Whether you are staying in the hotel or just need a bite to eat, you have to stop by the restaurant. The fried chicken and hamburgers and 2nd to none. The best part of the entire business is the people. They are wonderful, helpful and will do anything to make your visit everything you want it to be.

Sooner Legends is off the hook with their fantastic Wednesday Burger Special as well as their Thursday Enchilada Specials. Two of the better food deals offered in Norman. If you love great food delivered in an OU themed atmosphere then Sooner Legends is your place to visit.

The team at Sooner Legends is top notch! One step through the door and you’ll feel right at home. The food is amazing, the SOONER experience second to none. The other guys are in every town, but there’s only one SOONERLEGENDS!

Sooner Legends is a truly unique place. Doug and his staff do a great job of managing everything from the hotel, restaurant, bar and catering service. They provide a personal touch that you won’t get from a chain restaurant or hotel. If you are looking for a fun place to stay or just a cool place to grab a bite to eat, Sooner Legends is always a good choice.

Excellent service and food. My favorite is the brisket enchiladas but $ 5 burger night tonight was great! Endless chips and salsa were a perfect appetizer. Great locally owned and operated restaurant

I love eating at Sooner Legends! Being from Norman and a former SOONER football athlete, my family and I love eating at Sooner Legends and revisiting all of the SOONER memorabilia inside. If you’re in the Norman area I highly suggest visiting Sooner Legends. Whether you’re just in town for a football game or visiting family, it is not only a great place to eat lunch or dinner, but is a great place to stay. They have awesome BBQ, weekly specials(Enchilada Thursdays**) and also provide awesome catering services. I’ve also heard that their karaōke nights are a lot of fun! The owner and manager, Doug Kennon, is awesome to work with and will accommodate your every need! I highly recommend adding Sooner Legends as one of your stops if you plan on visiting Norman! BOOMERSOONER!!!

We went for the karaōke and it was really fun. After 9:00pm the kitchen stops serving but our great waitress got us chips, queso and salsa. The place was packed but she did a good job of keeping up with our table. The drink selection was pretty good. The dj was also good and kept the crowd dancing and having fun with a wide selection of music. Overall a fun place to go with a group.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The hotel has really good AC throughout. All the sooner memorabilia is really cool! Picture and history everywhere! Staff was friendly. Nice, free breakfast in the mornings! Hotel literally has everything you need for your stay including a microwave, fridge, and even a laundry room. Being a sooner alumni, this was a really cool hotel to stay at.

This place was an utter dissapoint. I now know why they have the walls covered my sports pic. To hide the run down wreck. I stayed in the 4000 room area it must have used to be the smoking room area because it still stinks. I am glad i was not paying for this crap our distributor was. My room was even missing pics with the hangers still on wall. Bed was uncomfortable. I came back to room and opened door to a sauna because the cheap ac reversal valve was stuck and blowing 90 degree air. I am a comercial hvac contractor and who ever put these in could not even do it correctly. It was mounted almost to the floor so that the cover did not fit on it. Well i was to tired to move to another room so it was cold enough outside i just turned it off. My friends room had water all over floor due to his ac(ptac) was installed incorrectly too with condensation draining into room. I will never be back to then run down mess with the university of Oklahoma is the only saving grace to this place. And maybe if you get drunk enough at bar you wont care anyways.

We ate at Sooner Legends for Valentine’s Day. It was a great meal at a great price. Chris, the manager, was excellent and attentive. The steaks were cooked properly and to order. The mashed potatoes were awesome. It was a good atmosphere. We will definitely go back and try more menu items.

Don’t understand why all the hype. The food wasn’t that good. Had chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes but had to wait extra time(15 minutes) after waitress brought out the dinner and it was just instant whipped potatoes… ugh. It’s a pretty neat establishment with nice Sooner memorable. Wait staff was so-so and the place was near empty. Won’t be back.

We agreed not to mention we were from Austin, Texas, the land of rabid University of Texas fans, and OU’s rival. The checkin person was lovely, and there were free cookies when you arrived. There was a $ 100 deposit required, in case you were a drunk fart boy wanting to destrpy something, or take the sports paraphernalia off the walls. I went swimming in the pool, and saw the very same toad that someone posted a photo of. The said it was heated, which is true, if you count heat from the August sun entering a cold pool. The bbq was actually pretty great. We ordered up to the room, but they forgot to give us napkins and utensils and we had to call down to wait for them to be brought up, yadayada. The breakfast in the morning was far better than the average continental breakfast that you get in other hotels, and it was included in the price. Most of the hotels are overpriced in this area, so you might as well stay here. It seems that their main thing is to rent out hotels to large teams. So if you have to come to Norman, OK for a girls volleyball tournament or something, this might be just the place.

Excellent place to stay. Staff extremely friendly, room very clean, beds more comfortable than any 4 – 5 star hotel I’ve ever visited. I would definitely recommend Sooner Legends for a comfortable stay to anyone visiting the Norman, OK area.

I had a four day stay at Sooner Legends in June of 2014. I also ate at the restaurant, hung out at the bar, and had the breakfast buffet. I’ll break my review into subparts regarding each facet of my stay. THEHOTEL: I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this hotel. As other Unilocalers note, it’s not much to look out from the outside. But, the bed was very comfortable, as were the pillows. The room was clean, and the employees I encountered were friendly. As others note, there is memorabilia and photographs everywhere. So, you don’t HAVE to be a Sooner fan to stay here, but I imagine it helps. It really is a unique hotel in that regard. Every morning, Sooner Legends offers a hot breakfast buffet in the restaurant. The menu changes, so check by the front desk to determine what the offering is during your stay. Usually there are scrambled eggs, a protein, and a sweet item of some kind. Additionally, there is yogurt, cereal, breads, and fruit. I’ve had much worse complimentary breakfasts at hotels, but given how much I enjoyed the restaurant(see below), I was expecting more. THERESTAURANT: Some buddies came down and met me at Sooner Legends for dinner my first night. The dinner special that evening was fried chicken,“Val’s” fried chicken to be specific. We planned on getting BBQ, but when we saw that literally every other table had at least one order of fried chicken, we changed our collective minds and all ordered the fried chicken. We had a couple of starters: the buffalo wontons and chips and queso. Both were the worst part of the meal. The chips and queso are nothing to write home about, slightly below average in my estimation. The buffalo wontons are chicken, wing sauce, and cheese inside of a fired wonton and served with ranch. These sounded a lot better than they were in execution. The wontons weren’t fried properly, I don’t think the grease was hot enough. So, they were soggy in parts and greasy instead of crispy. So, on return visits, I likely won’t order appetizers. The fried chicken meal, on the other hand, was fantastic. I ordered dark meat(as did the other 3 at my table). You get 3 good sized pieces and 2 sides. I had okra and mashed potatoes and gravy. The meal is served with a biscuit for $ 10.95. This is a very good price for the amount and quality of the meal. The chicken was seasoned well, as was the breading. It was crunchy and adhered well to the chicken. The chicken was juicy. It may not be the best fried chicken I’ve ever eaten, but it certainly was well above average. I can see why fried chicken nights are popular at Sooner Legends. The sides were likewise strong, the okra was my favorite. My entire meal is a re-order. THEBAR: This, like the rest of the property, is full of Sooner photographs and memorabilia. There is smoking, and it’s noticeable when you walk in. But, it’s large, so if someone is smoking and you don’t like it, you can get pretty far away and still be in the bar. We had a server, and she got us drinks very quickly. The beer selection is average for a bar of this type in a small town. There are plenty of TVs and bar games(pool table, Golden Tee, etc) to play. It’s comfortable enough, and it certainly gets the job done. I would stay at Sooner Legends again, and will eat in the restaurant again as well. It’s the kind of quality local establishment that makes college towns like Norman great.

I was here on business. I checked in. The whole place was decked out in red — the OU school color, and covered with Sooner paraphernalia. The walls were lined with photos of sweaty, muscular men. My room had seven giant photos of some guy named Blake Griffin. I guess it’s okay if you’re into that sort of thing. I’m male, straight, and I never watched sports much. I guess I didn’t have any of the three reasons someone might enjoy seeing them. Still, once I got used to sleeping under the watchful, all-seeing eye of Blake Griffin, I didn’t mind all too much. There were a few places where it did cross the line. Case-in-point: The restaurant had a vandalized dead cow’s skull hanging upside down just above the entrance. Why would a Bible Belt hotel hang an occult symbol in their main lobby? Well, the rival college, UT, has a longhorn cow as its mascot. I’m all for supporting your local community, but there’s something wrong when that turns into hatred of other folks. That said, the hotel staff were all very friendly. The hotel was quite inexpensive, and I enjoyed my stay here. Breakfast was wonderful. It was interesting to see the combination of small-town cooking and hospitality(plus!) and small-town sportsmanship(minus).

Only hotel in Norman not booked on game day, probably because of the two night minimum. So, even though I swore I would never stay here again, I did. I’m an OU Alumni and I enjoy the memorabilia in the hotel. However the hotel squanders the opportunity it has on game days. The bar and restaurant should be packed the night before. The bar caters to locals every night. I know that locals pay the bills, but they could be making some serious money by hosting pre-game parties the night before the game. I went to the bar the night before expecting at least an OU drink special. But instead I got to hear the locals sing bad karaōke Neil Diamond to me all night. What a waste of my time. And if you get a non-smoking room, you may still smell smoke because it’s nestled next to a smoking room. I could smell smoke in the hallway every time I stepped out of my room. Also, they shuttle out front is obviously not for guests. I called to see if they had a shuttle to the game and was told no. I did see the shuttle at the game. How annoying. Such a great idea for a hotel, bar and restaurant. It’s a shame it won’t ever reach it’s potential.

Great place to stay for a Sooner Fan. We had the Bud Wilkenson room when we stayed there. It was great to explain to my kids who he was. Then walking the halls looking at all the artifacts was so interesting. The room was nice and room with comfortable beds. The robes were beyond soft as my teenage daughters fought over which one would wear one. We really had a fun time there.
