The UPS Store

I recently used this UPS store to ship an item back to my home address after leaving it behind in a hotel. The process was so easy and efficient. The item was collected from the hotel and shipped out within a few hours of my call. I received the item via ground shipping within two days; I was thrilled to be reunited with my Kindle and for a fraction of the cost of a new device.

I began receiving my business mail at this UPS store about six months ago. (I had finally had enough of the Burien Post Office). I use the store for sending business mail as well. Every one of the staff members is very friendly and always willing to assist in my mailing needs. It is refreshing to find a store like this where the employees appreciate me as a customer.

Where to start… when I think of a UPS store I just think of shipping. But recently I started my own business and needed an official mailing address for it so since I live in Normandy Park I thought why not the UPS store? It was taken over by a past and now present customer of mine which I now call a close friend due to the relationship we have built over our common goal of successful small business. Gloriana has helped me with open arms from day one with the smallest of things like a book of stamps to a banner needed in 24 hours for a trade show. I didn’t realize before how much these stores offer and now I am doing all of my printing and business needs through them because they are helpful, honest and reasonable.
I don’t usually write reviews online because I simply don’t have the time with a new baby and a growing business but when I saw this wonderful new business recent bad reviews I knew I had to take 5 mins out of my day to pay back the help they have given me and shed some light on the recent events at her store…
There had been a buzz around the UPS franchises that Gloriana is a wonderful UPS franchise owner (she owns another store in Lakewood) and so when UPS decided to run a new campaign about small business and UPS she was recommended. When they came here from CA to interview her she was asked if there were any small businesses that she had built relationships with that may be a good fit for a story. She recommended my company and a few others and UPS selected her and I because of our friendship built on a foundation of the work she has done for me. So while we were filming (02÷27−03÷08) she had to have her establishment ran out of a UHaul truck, but made every attempt to inform her customers with notices in the mailboxes (I had one in mine :)), signs on the door, posts on the blog and talk around town. This commercial was made to help small businesses and not hurt them so I am very sad to see that this was seen in a negative light. Gloriana is a wonderful person and a very helpful and professional business owner. So I ask the people who maybe had a not so awesome experience during the chaotic time of filming that they come and give her store another chance.

When this UPS Store closed, it was inconvenient and I was excited when new owners were reopening it. That being said, I have been there 4 times in the last week so feel like I need to leave feedback. First, they are filming something there. When I was there the first time, they were operating out of a UHaul. While that isn’t a problem, I can certainly adapt, there was no signage so when you drove by you knew they were operating out of the Uhaul. The next time I went, the male clerk was ok. The third time I went there was a lady clerk who was downright unhelpful. While holding a large box and my child, she didn’t make any move to assist me until I said, I am going to need a hand. She didn’t thank me or anything. Today when I went by there to drop off packing materials, they again had large things draped over the front and looks like they are filming something again. Ugh! I didn’t even go in today and I am sick of dealing with them. I just want to go and drop off my packages without all the hassle that I seem to have with this location. I will just go the extra distance to the one in Burien by the Safeway instead. If they want to be successful, they need to get themselves more customer service oriented which seems strange to say for a fairly newly opened business.

Super disappointed, I expected so much better. Customer appreciation is not important enough to own an error and step up to fix it. USPS got the business rather than paying this store twice for the same shipment.
