I purchased an Epson projector and, after my experience, I will NEVER shop at Best Buy again. I needed a projector to show a film. I walked in and one of the employees told me that this product would be perfect for what I needed. I was excited and, after asking a few question, bought it right away. He also sold me a couple of cables that he said I NEEDED(but I DEFINITELYDIDNOT). Well, long story short, I decided to trust best buy and the employee’s expertise, so I didn’t test out the projector until the day I needed it in Michigan. Well, it definitely did not work the way he said it would. I felt like I was watching a picture slide show versus an actual movie. In addition, the money I spent on the cables was a complete waste because the projector came with everything that was needed. Well I called Best Buy and they said I could return the items 16 days after the purchase date since there was no store nearby in Michigan. What a LIE! When I walked in 16 days later, I was told that they could not make an exception for the return despite that they sold me something that clearly didn’t work for what I needed it to do. If you need a quality projector, this is definitely not it, and neither is the service at BESTBUY. Well at least not the one located at Harlem and Forest Preserve in Norridge, IL. I hate writing bad reviews but please, just be careful!

My XP laptop gave up over the weekend, I headed to the HIP to replace or repair the unit. I met Andrew there. After examining the laptop he pointed out it would cost about as much to repair the unit as to purchase a new unit. Well, it was an old unit after all, so let’s see what is available. Andrew spent enough time with me to identify several units. Using the Best Buy site I was able to identify issues with one unit, and settled on a lower cost alternative. Then Andrew worked with me to identify my needs for software, peripherals and other services. I didn’t feel pressured or out of my depth. In the end I got a unit below cost, according to Andrew, and with a nice package. Yes, I purchased from the returns. But from XP I’m now using Win 8.1! :-) Thanks Andrew For transparency, I briefly worked for Best Buy.

My mother bought a laptop computer for my father in February of 2010 from this store. She purchased the computer along with the«everything» 3 year warrenty, as well as the wireless mouse, bag cooling unit and all the bells and whistles for my dad. Fast forward to April 28, 2011. My father goes to boot up the Acer laptop, and the LCD screen explodes. So today — May 2, 2011 I took my father, the PC and the warrenty papers back to Best Buy. Guess what they told me? That we have the step 1 warrenty and it does not cover the screen. we should have purchased the«Step 2 everything» warrenty. that would cover the screen. Are you kidding me??? We bought the warrenty that was offered to us and it still does not cover the PC??? I will never shop at this store again!
