The Sweet Oasis

Nothing bad to write about this place. Best ice cream ever (and I’ve had ice cream from «top ice cream shops in the US»), my favorites are Praline Pecan, Caramel Combustion and Sea Salt Caramel. The service/​owners are great people, and the scoops are huge. It can get busy but I like that… it’s nice to go to a neighborhood ice cream shop and see locals… makes for a nice enviornment.

Came here on a hot night. the place was packed with people. Had hard time finding parking. There are a lot of flavors. but there was a very long line of people and the sign detailing the specials was hard to read. so when I waited in line for a very long time… I could have read the sign. but only got to read the sign once I got closer and I slowed down the line because I had to stand and read. maybe get a bigger sign or put the sign somewhere else so when people are waitng they can read and decide.
Once I saw the sign. and looked at the flavors. I got what I wanted. I got a strawberry and vanilla soft serve cone which I have never had before. It usually is chocolate or vanilla. They also had hazelnut
I got my friend a two scoop sundae in a cup. with vanilla and praline. The scoops are HUGE.
They also had some great flavors like caramel combustion.
The place is very clean and bright and cheerful. Maybe this place is so popular that they may need to get a bigger place.

HUGE variety of ice cream. Great value and BIGGEST scoops EVER! The service is AWESOME and the shop is clean.

Absolutely adore this place. You definitely get your money’s worth and it’s not even pricey! The people that work here are all very friendly, and they have a huge variety of ice cream, shakes, and smoothies. I was looking for a place that carried the «Cookie Monster» ice cream flavor, and I somehow stumbled upon it here. If I could give this place more than 5 stars I would!

I would give this place more than 5 stars if I can. The service is awesomeeee, and their soft serve is HUGE. I mean REALLY HUGE. I had Coconut and Vanilla mixed today, and IT MADE MY DAY. I’ll definitely come back.

5:30pm on a Thursday. Unilocal and their website both says that they’re open until 10 PM. Yet they’re closed.

CONS: smelled very strongly of cleaner when we went in there but we got used to it — despite that smell suggesting it was clean, the place was still pretty dirty. We were the only people in there (so they were not busy) and every single table had dirty napkins, spilled ice cream and crumbs. We had to clean off our own table while the people working there watched TV (volume was so loud, we had to yell to each other to be heard). The floor was dirty, the «mix-​in» area behind the counter had quite a bit of spilled toppings around the station, and the garbage can at the entrance was gross.
PROS: not sure if this is a pro or con — I guess it’s depending on how you feel about portion size: HUGE amount of ice cream for the price. Well worth the value but they could have made more money off of us since we planned on getting two sundaes. Since the ONE sundae was so big, we split it.
We might go back again if we’re in the area to give it another try.

Had the worst customer experience I had ever received in this place. My family and I went there late Thursday evening, there was about 15 of us, my sister in law ordered my daughter and my niece sherbet. After a single taste they said it didn’t taste good and wanted something different. So we asked one of the girls up front if they can get something else, she said let me grab the manager. The manager comes out with the absolute worst attitude. He tells my wife why didn’t we have them taste it before. We explained my sister in law ordered for the girls and they usually love the sherbet. He kept getting louder and louder saying why should he have to «eat the ice cream» so I offered to pay for it. He kept getting louder so my wife finally lost it and told him off. I seriously have no idea how this place is open with a jack ass running it. I think it’s safe to say we will never be back.

Great service, friendly cashier, huge portions, and the ice cream sundae we shared was big enough for a family of 4 to share.

I love this place! It’s small and local and I think it’s closed during winter. They carry variety of ice cream flavors — it’s always hard to pick. If you’re not a fan of ice cream, they offer many different refreshments to keep you cool during those hot summer days and nights. The staff is always very friendly and helpful + you get ton of delicious ice cream for ridiculous money. Win, win.

For the longest time, I thought the west end of Montrose Ave. wouldn’t have much to explore, until I found The Sweet Oasis on Unilocal one day.
Diagonally across from Ridgewood High School in Norridge, The Sweet Oasis is a family-​friendly ice parlor that serves Schoop’s ice cream products. When we arrived at the 1920 hour in the mid-​summer evening, all the seating was occupied.
I may be fond of small children sometimes, but I wanted to enjoy solitude in my own vehicle after a long day of work. Hubby concurred as well.
We, therefore, grabbed our Pistachio Almond (in a waffle cone) and cappuccino shake and headed to our van. We hid, watched people come and go, like private detectives. Well, we weren’t looking for anyone in particular; I just wanted to describe our ice-​creaming eating in a mysterious manner.
The Sweet Oasis is located within the residential area, approximately two (2) black west from Harlem Ave. If I ever voyage on Harlem and want to rest a little while, The Sweet Oasis will certainly be at the top of my list.

All I can say is I simply can not wait to go back. There are not enough calories in a day to try all the amazing flavors and treats that they have to offer.

Great Italian style and family owned ice cream place. Many flavors to pick from and prices are not as Baskin Robins crazy. Great atmosphere and wonderful smiling people. My kids and I we love this place.

Cute little local ice cream shop! Stopped here on way to O’hare for a flight!

Went in for a post-​dinner treat. Very kind. Great people.
About 25 different flavors of ice cream to choose from. And soft serve. And lots of sundaes and other treats.
The place is really clean and inviting.
Pros — big selection of ice cream

Generous portions! Ice cream for the whole family for under $ 10 and we could hardly finish it.
Staff were kind and quick even with a crowd. When I asked them to wet a napkin so I could wipe the table, they sent a staff member to clean it for me. Staff was friendly and you could tell they wanted happy customers.
We will definitely be back!

Holy moly I’ve never seen such large ice cream servings. Two scoops is like a pint of ice cream. Its delicious tho! Luckily I let my friends all order before me and I ordered a single serving which was still large. I had to toss half out as I’m allergic to dairy and can only handle so much. It all tasted sl fresh! You know how some places taste like freezer burnt? Well not this place! Its definitely worth a trip if you’re in the mood for ice cream and cheap! I can’t wait to stop in again. They have tons of flavors to suit everyones taste buds. They also have smoothies too. :)

If your someone’s who’s eyes are almost always bigger than your stomach. Go for a smaller size rather than bigger! HIGE portions. Quite tasty flavors, all for a great price.

We were driving down Montrose, headed to the HIP tonight and I noticed this Sweet Oasis… headed home from the HIP, I decided to treat the kids to a cool treat on a lovely spring evening. All the tables were full inside (always a good sign) and a big supply of ice cream to choose from, yogurt and soft serve too.
We were not disappointed. Gigantic scoops of ice cream atop our cones! Seriously, this is not Baskin Robbins… its a local shop who serves a good product for a decent price. 5 of us got ice cream for $ 15… which I think is a good deal. They even had Good Humor stuff in freezers.
A real ice cream shop in a nice neighborhood. We recommend it and look forward to visiting again, come summer!
