Glad I went to this place, in Skowhegan on a business trip, saw the reviews for this place and thought I would try it out. I had the mixed seafood basket with onion rings and it was amazing. Reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 are: 1. They are bit weary of out of towners, when I called she seemed a bit stand off ish 2. They don’t deliver to Skowhegan even if it is within the 5 mile radius Other then that it was great and would eat here again if I come back. Ps. Had to drive about a mile up a dirt road, think they are in the process of paving it.

We were on a tarp-finding excursion to Marden’s in Waterville and found the review of Fonzo’s here on Unilocal. This place really is out of the way, but well worth the trip. As the other reviewer said, it’s unassuming on the outside, but we found it spotless and tidy on the inside. The staff was patient, friendly and helpful as my sweetie dithered about what to order. She warned that the seafood basket was lots of food, and she was right. The hand-cut fries were covered with a layer of fried whole-belly clams, shrimp, haddock and scallops. All was perfectly done with just the right amount of breading, thin enough to be tasty, not so thick as to overwhelm. Along with the fries and seafood there was a cup of very good house made coleslaw and a warm, scratch-baked buttered roll. My haddock basket had a generous amount of both perfectly done fish pieces and fries, again with coleslaw and a roll. While I was in the parking lot taking a picture of the place another customer asked if I’d tried the chicken basket — he claimed he couldn’t get away from it the first 4 times he was there, it was that good. We’ve marked it on the map for the next time we’re in the Skowhegan area. The seafood is so well done and reasonably priced, it’s worth an hour’s drive from Brunswick just for the clams!

For great sandwiches on just-baked sub rolls, and really good fried Maine seafood, Fonzo’s is a real find! Hidden out in the middle of nowhere, between Smithfield and Norridgewock, this family-run shoppe does everything up just right. Don’t be fooled by the«shack» style surroundings, you’re in for a treat. Highly recommend the steak-bomb and the fried shrimp and the fried clams… alll at the best prices anywhere. I’m not sure why exactly it’s called Fonzo’s Pizza, since pizza is not by any means the best thing on their menu(it’s just ok… the sauce needs something more). Give Fonzo’s a try… if you can find it! P. S. great chicken tenders, too!
