Without a doubt the best BBQ in town. Bar none. Fast service and plenty of excellent food. I still can’t figure out how they can serve you that much food for so little money. Highly recommended!!! This place is way across town from where we live, but we still make trip. We pig out and our bill is only $ 25. I don’t know how they do it.

Not a fancy place but if you’re from Texas like me you can appreciate a good BBQ place, specially in N. Ft. Myers. The service is fast and courteous. The ribs and the chicken are always juice and with great taste. The beans are very tasty and so is the coleslaw.

Let’s start with the positives. Service was good all around. True country décor. Sweet tea was on point. That’s about as positive as I can be. This was some below average BBQ. Sorry folks. Not worthy of 4 stars. The pulled pork was pretty bad — the texture, the flavor, just a pile of mush that I couldn’t finish eating. No smoked flavor whatsoever. The baked beans weren’t that good either. I tried a couple ribs off my mother’s plate. Tiny baby back ribs, not much meat, again no smokey flavor. Oh, one other positive: they give you lemon powder packs to flavor your sweet tea and plenty of handwipes.

Good BBQ. I’m not an expert at buying BBQ out, as we have limited access to real BBQ in Minnesota. We do our own and it’s fun to try others efforts. I don’t give negative comments to anyone making BBQ as I realize it doesn’t just happen. No negative comments from this operation! The smiling started before we parked as there was a line at the drive up window… and the smell of smoke in the air. The hostess was friendly and seated us right away. The waitress was patient and efficient. The beer was ice cold. The side orders(2 kinds of beans, cole slaw, potato salad, pickled apple slices, pickles) are serve yourself at the Vittles Bar. The baked beans are a 10! My wife proclaimed them the best she has ever eaten. The 3 of us ordered a variety of ribs and they were excellent. The Baby Backs were preferred as the spares were a bit fatty… but seriously, fat is flavor, crispy bark is flavor, big and meatty… To heck with the cholesterol concern, Enjoy! Baked potatoes were excellent and right out of the oven. Two pieces of garlic toast per order. Did I miss anything? Mostly locals in here. I knocked off 1 point because it is a little rough around the edges… We will definitely go back! 3 rib dinners, 4 beers and a Pepsi, $ 64. There were enough leftovers for another meal… We are having a great lunch tomorrow!

It’s like a dinky rib city! Do not accept AMEX! Food came out quick. Kid friendly. Good customer service. It was different here.

Super spot in a sleepy strip mall. Restaurant was clean, food came quick and staff was friendly. Just one mile or so off the 75. Great stop for lunch or dinner when on the road.

Delicious BBQ at a reasonable price. A good change from the normal chain BBQ restaurants. The baby back ribs were so moist and tender! Their baked beans were out of this world! Very tasty food, good sized portions and very great prices! Will definitely be back!

I tried this place after people from my husband’s job said it was good. I love bbq and was excited to see if it was good. Big menu, good sweet tea and awesome baked beans. That’s about it though. My husband got the pulled pork… it was so shredded you couldn’t taste the pork and the bbq sauce tasted like it was kraft. I got the sliced pork. There was no flavor to it and the sauce was not good. I have to say we will not be back. There are better bbq places around.

Folks here is my 2 cents on the food. First the BBQ meats. The pork ribs, brisket, chicken & such are smoke pretty much just right. The meats are good quality and lean. Thats where we start to go down hill. NO fat NO flavor. I need more flavor. Once this gets cold it sucks. The sauce’s … what the hell is wrong with the Floridians and this obsession of vinegar. WHYSOUR??? Where is the sweet and savory? Is it they were just brought up wrong and do not know the difference. I ask for a hot sauce. I was offered BBQ hot sauce and Tabasco(this is vinegar). BBQ hot sauce was neither hot or good, just vinegar flavor. Now the salads and beans. The only decent thing was the Cole slaw. The potatoe salad again sour just nasty. Mac salad just plain. Had the pickle tomatoe. WHY is this NOT sour??? My toast was great and the french fries were excellent… Beans are claim to fame good. I do not know in what Universe. People with real taste buds would agree sour. Nothing like Mexican refried bean, Brasilian black bean or My favorite sweet & savory(brown sugar & onions) Boston Baked beans. This is my last visit here. Which is ashamed Now chit chat. Wow the service was so excellent. All of the staff were fun and friendly. My meal was brought to me in under 7 minutes. Yes I timed it. I like the place. So try at your own risk. If brought up in the south this is a place for you.

Excellent BBQ, much better than the chain places. A pile of thin sliced beef so tender you can cut thru with a fork! Great flavors, what a gem. Not real fancy, but oh the food is good!

Never again. Filthy dirty dining room, bathrooms, and kitchen(door was propped open). Even the overpriced«vittles-bar» needed cleaned up(spilled food everywhere) and a half dozen young female employees standing around talking to each other. I gave it a chance only because of the good reviews. Food was just OK but nothing spectacular. I would not eat here again.

I want to start out by saying none of the food was NOT horrible tasting. The manager was good enough to provide a plate with the various meats I wanted to try. This combo was not on the menu. Beef was cooked like beef stew… Not sliced brisket. Did I order the wrong thing? I said I wanted to try their beef, in several of the combo options they offered beef. It was good, if you like beef stew. Same part of the cow that we get brisket from, just cooked a different way. Throw some vegies in there and you have a great beef stew. Just not what I was after. Pork served swimming in sauce. OK this bothered me a lot. I prefer my pork served without sauce and then I add the type and amount of sauce I want. There was so much sauce it was hard to taste the pork. See the attached picture from me, the pork is on the right in the bowl. I really don’t think there was much smoke in the pork either. I guess some people like it this way. But when you’ve eaten at some of the best BBQ Joints in the lower 48, this just doesn’t cut it for me. Baby back ribs were the best part of the meal; but like the pork not smoked as much as I like. It was hard to find even a hint of a smoke ring in the meat. Almost tasted like they had been broiled as part of the process. They are tender and the sauce is a good compliment. The meat was not bad, just no smoke. No banana pudding which should have been a clue to start out… but then I have eaten at a few BBQ places that do not have banana pudding. I’d really hit this at 2.5 stars if I could as I’d rate overall average.

My husband lived out in Kansas City for years but insists this is one of the best barbecue places. The baked beans are full of pulled pork, the cole slaw is crisp and creamy and the meats are tender, smokey and delicious. This is not a fancy place, but a place to eat your fill of barbecue for not a lot of money.

I stopped in on a Tuesday at 1:30pm. The service was friendly. This is not your high end BBQ joint which can be a good sign most of the time. I ordered the deluxe which included pulled pork, two ribs, brisket, chicken a baked potato and bread. The Ribs were tough and cold, brisket the same, pulled pork was mush, chicken was good. The sauces were decent but I had to get the hot stuff delivered. Price was ok but considering most of my meal was luke warm and tough I felt I didn’t get what I paid for. It’s my opinion the head smoker is asleep at the wheel or doesn’t know what he/she is doing. Unless things change here you can avoid this place.

My boyfriend and I have lived all over the country and this is honestly one of the better BBQ places. The coleslaw was more sour than sweet which I appreciate and the baked beans were exquisite and thick — not at all like the usual canned fare most places use. There were two BBQ sauces on table(sweeter and spicier) and they were great. We got the feast for two and had left overs even. Awesome smoked turkey. The ribs were fantastic too! Beer was icy and waitstaff were friendly and attentive. «Vittles Bar» didn’t have a lot on it but what was there was darned good. Plus I love Texas Toast instead of buns. Good pricing too!

Get baby back ribs but don’t share! You will regret it! Even thou this could easely be placed on your«dive» list, it is worth the drive from even Miami!!! Place is a friendly place where most are locals who are addressed by first name. Some even have a set dish that the waitress did not even bother to ask, just ordered it for them! Just at the start of our weekend getaway and trying to make our $$$ stretch we decided to share a plate… Now that was dumb!!! Lets start with the service. We were promptly greeted with a warm and friendly smile. Sat immediately. Noticed on our way to table their very small«Vittles Bar» area. At first glance it seemed like a little area serving your regular bbq sides, cole slaw, potato salad and baked beans. but beware this is anything but regular! Its a trap! A delicious so much worth diet breaking yummies! We went for the ribs. It was a nice size full rack and darn thing was true to its name, «Smoke’n Pit» full of flavor fall of the bone scrumptiousness! The aroma itself was the start to a celebration of flavors in your mouth!!! Got my fork to place ½ of it onto my plate and found myself actually holding onto only bone! The meat was so perfectly tender that it fell right off!!! Its bold and amazing taste was so mouthwatering delicious that instantly i was upset we had to share!!! The flavors infused into each piece of rib make it hard not to reach over and steal from hubby’s portion! This was true slow cooked bbq baby back ribs! Just the right amount of sauce, no extra needed. Meat was actually flavorful all by itself. Now on to the«Vittles Bar” — this comes ‘FREE» with each meal purchase, so since we only bought one entrée we were not allowed to share. and it can be repeated as many times as you like. And trust me, you will. Lets start with the simplist — Cole Slaw — this was your ordinary creamy crunchy slaw — served cold which enhanced its flavor. Gotta say I did not try the Potato salad, not in mood today and besides figure we will drive up and can leave something«new» for next time… Now the star side here was those hot bubbling baked beans! It’s perfect balance between smokey and sweet was enough to have me wishing for a larger serving plate(these are foam small(very small) bowls) Did not really care how it looked that I got up 3 times for more. Let those other patrons know I mean bean business!!! This side is actually so delicious it deserves a starting role — like it can sell as an entrée!!! These slow cooked beans were a perfect match for the best ribs ever! Then to finish it off, we over heard the waitress rave to another table regarding a homemade«Orange Cicle Pie». We were sold! again we shared! This was a cream exactly like its name stated orange cicle pie filling onto a buttery graham cracker crust. With every bite I closed my eyes and felt like I was transported back to my childhood chasing the neighborhood ice cream truck down and enjoying a cool cicle! the swirl of vanilla and orange flavors in my mouth were heart warming and enjoyable. Drive is approx 2 hrs from home, but its really not that far when you know you will be treated amazing, feed like a royal and walk out happy… It is a dive, it is not fancy, but it packs a «Flavor Punch» like nothing around here!

Love BBQ and I’ve been to many. This place scores really high on the list. First, the bad. The spare ribs were a little dry but still tasty(putting some sauce on it makes all the difference). The place is a dive for sure, reminds me of a liquor store than a BBQ joint. Not much sauce selection, just one sweet and one less sweet. However, both were great. Small«vittles bar», so you may have to wait your turn if just one person is there. As far as service, I can’t say it was anywhere near bad, but it was lackluster. The Cole slaw might be good for some, but it tasted very similar to an apple taste. Kind of had the texture of ground up celery too. Some might like it but just giving people a head’s up. The good: The price! We ended up getting an appetizer, 2 non-alcoholic drinks, 2 full rack of ribs for just $ 44(without tip). The portions are fantastic — we had leftovers afterwards, and even managed to throw in a quart of beans to go for this price. The drinks also come in a huge glass, I usually get like 5 – 7 refills at restaurants but I only needed 1 here. Also, the spare ribs also included the tip of the rib, which I’ve never seen at many BBQ joints. Famous Dave’s has«Southside rib tips» but they are only the tips. The stars of the show: You must try their baked beans. A coworker of mine let me try some of those beans and they were so good, I had to come here to taste them directly! Best baked beans I’ve ever had and I love all kinds of beans. They have a BBQ flavor and some pieces of meat in them. You can buy them to go by half pint, pint, quart and gallon — great for taking to a pot-luck or get together I’m sure. The baby back ribs were some of the best baby backs ever. Juicy, and tasted so good. Also try their tea. I like tea, but decided to go with diet soda and was jealous of my wife’s tea when she ordered it unsweetened. So good and refreshing. Will definitely be coming back for more!

Never a bad meal or bad service. My favorite BBQ joint in the area. They even have a drive thru. Their baby back ribs dinner is my favorite, and you have to love the Vittles Bar! My man loves their pulled pork and we’ve had their Feast for 2, which in reality is enough food for 2 people to have 2 meals. If you’ve never been here you are missing out on amazing BBQ!

Never mind the rather outdated, hole in the wall look of the building. From what I understand, Smoke’n Pit has been owned by the same family for over 20 years and it’s working. I love to pig out on bbq every once and a while and had been recommended here by a couple of friends. They did not disappoint — I would say it’s the best bbq I’ve had in the Ft. Myers/Cape area. They have a nice sized menu, although I wish they offered more combination plates or ala carte options, as I like to get a little bit of everything. I ordered a full rack of baby backs and damn they were fall off the bone delicious. I also tried a cup of chili, hush puppies and pulled pork, all of which were tasty as well. Smoke’n Pit also offers a «vittles bar», available for dine-in guests, that boasts cole slaw, potato salad, black eyed peas, baked beans(do not skip these!), and pickles. The tab for two soft drinks, two appetizers and two entrees was under $ 40, and we each took home enough for a meal for the next day. I will definitely be back next time I am craving bbq!

The wife & I have been eating here the last 11 years. Sad to say the food quality has gone down hill the past several months. Just got a half slab with baked potato to go, it took 10 minutes in the microwave to get the raw potato eatable. The half slab was three ribs from a slab & three ribs of mystery meat, that after a taste was thrown away. Supposed to come with slaw & beans, well, no slaw. I know this place has been around forever and was great, no more, they need to realize there are other rib places near by that are doing a better job.
