Cold Penguin Ice Cream

The nice woman running this place had just closed the doors when our family thought «hey, lets get some ice cream!» We were all geared up to be disappointed but when we went up to the door to check the hours, she waved us all in!
I got the coconut ice cream and followed my husband’s lead and got 2 scoops thinking they would be like normal scoops… WRONG! They were HUGE scoops! I couldn’t even come close to finishing it but I was in ice cream heaven. My family got a myriad of other flavors and they said they were all very good too.
Thanks to this place for staying open for us, having loads of options, and decent pricing!

Came by for birthday ice cream. We tried peanut butter pretzel, butter pecan, black cherry, muddy sneakers, cookies and cream and cappuccino crunch. Everyone thought it was great and this will become our new place for birthday ice cream!

Hershey’s ice cream! We love stopping here for a cold treat while at the farmer’s market or just walking the boardwalk. Prices are reasonable too!

Very good ice cream! The shop is small, could use a sitting area but we had fun sitting outside on the four chairs that were there. It was the perfect ice cream shop for a beach town, no bells and whistles but a good fit for the town and most importantly, the ice cream was well priced and simply delicious!

It’s so nice to have a good ice cream shop in town. We come here regularly. The shop carries Hershey’s ice cream, which we think is even better than Baskin-​Robins. I’m going by memory here, but I think this shop has about 24 flavors or so. The staff is primarily comprised high school kids – or maybe just out of school – so it’s always patently obvious that there’s somewhere else they’d rather be. (They aren’t yet seasoned enough to fake it, as is generally required in the service industry.) So their little tip jar ends up a little neglected when we visit. But all in all this is a good little place to get ice cream.

Cool little ice cream shop right by the beach. Decent variety of Hershey’s flavors. Single scoops on cones were huge and more than enough.

Good, run of the mill (Hersheys) ice cream, close to the beach, & very nice service.

Three words: Puppy Ice Cream. Okay, perhaps I should clarify, it’s ice cream for dogs. not a flavor. Awkward. My puppy loves to take a long walk on the boardwalk then grab a little cup of beef flavored puppy ice cream. The staff is always friendly and the owner’s are great from what I know of them. I’ve had very pleasant experiences here. Oh and they have great people ice cream too!

There’s not too much to compare to in the area but Cold Penguin still stands out.
The ladies working here are always so friendly and every time I’ve gotten ice cream here they always make an effort to have a friendly conversation.
It’s a down home shop that’s in a perfect spot for the boardwalk and beach goers.
They don’t have the gazillion flavors, but the ones they do are super delicious. The nice loungers out front on the deck on hot days is a nice way to enjoy your cone.
So coming by here is all you really need to put a smile on your face.

Your basic ice cream shop… no paddles to mush your gummy bears into the ice cream, but trust me, they taste fine sprinkled on top. They have two cases of hand dipped Hershey’s ice cream and also offer milkshakes, sundaes, and smoothies. I had a small cup of Outrageous Oatmeal Cookie which was cinnamon ice cream swirled with caramel, oatmeal cookie pieces and chocolate chips. It was really good! My hubby had some sort of brownie batter flavor as a milkshake. It turned out a little over milked… not thick at all… but he claim to like it that way. I think it’s just because he’s not one to complain.
This little shop is located right off the North Beach boardwalk so it’s a prime location to attract summer patrons. We took our ice cream on a stroll by the water. I will return.
