Seriously the best bbq I have ever had. Staff was super sweet and the stop was well worth it. Great prices for the amount of food you get. Salsa was devine as well!

Worth every bit of 5 stars. I’d give it 10 if they’d let me. Meats were perfectly prepared and the mix of veggies was masterful. Probably the most flavorful sandwich I’ve ever eaten. I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for exquisite BBQ. Staff was attentive and polite as well.

Omg. Best sandwiches ever. My new favorite is the tri tip… mouthwatering. I love the BBQ sauce. I really wish they would expand their hours, but I’m grateful that they’re here. Really cute décor inside as well. Comfy and clean!

We pulled in 17 minutes after open on a Friday thanks to 265-star reviews on Unilocal while traveling down the 101 from Florence to Trinidad. It was an 18 minute wait after ordering. I was mentally clicking down the stars on this review as I waited on the restaurant’s two-top front porch facing Virginia Avenue. But damn if this wasn’t the best barbecue I’ve had in Oregon(and we’re originally from the South, birthplace of BBQ). Spouse had a tri-tip sandwich and I had the Hog Waller(pulled pork on not-so-sweet coleslaw, served in a bowl: low carb!). Heaven. Thank you, Unilocal

Best place to eat in North Bend, hands down. Each time I commute to Coos Bay, I make it a point to reward the drive with a trip to Alder Smokehouse.

BESTFRENCHDIPEVER!!! My husband orders this sandwich often is is disappointed most of the time because he is from New Jersey and well, you know, they eat different back there, i.e. pastrami 3 to 4 inches high on rye with only mustard. You can’t get your mouth around it, right? So he is always looking for that place that can satisfy his craving. BINGO. Only problem is we live in Nevada. Looks like we will be back. Thanks so very much.

I don’t know what else to say except that was the best French dip sandwich I’ve ever had anywhere. I think all the other people who have served me a sandwich and called it a French dip should be beaten with sticks. They should be run out of town. They and their families should be ostracized. Air should be let out of their tires and their TV antennas pointed the wrong way. Because this is the best French dip sandwich. Not just in North Bend. Not just in the Bay Area. Not just in Oregon. Anywhere. My favorite part– except for the entire perfect French dip thing going on– is how perfectly they toasted the inside of the bun, so when you bite it, your teeth go through the soft part of the bread and before they reach the meat there’s that little crunch of toastiness before they sink into the perfectly done, tender meat. Anyhow, it’s just the best that that’s the end of this review.

This was an amazing experience all around. Please don’t be discouraged by the outside… because what they have cooking on the inside was delicious. The owner was super sweet, very helpful and knowledgele of ehr menu… afterwards we took desserts for the road. WOW… I wish we grabbed more. Overall just a wonderful experieince. Thank you!

Had the smokehouse sandwich with bbq sauce. It was on point! Lady at the counter was super nice. Prices are also decent. Only problem is the hours. 11−3… If they were open longer, everyone in north bend would be fat.

THEBESTBBQINCOOSBAY! The entire menu was mouthwatering. Mrs. and Little Miss Picky shared the French Dip since it was too much for one. There must have been 8 – 9 ounces of delicious tender roast beef. Mr. Picky choose the Tri Tip with peppers and onions… a Manly sandwich that came with their incredible BBQ sauce. THE best BBQ sauce we’ve ever had! Excellent experience all the way! The Picky’s highly recommend the ‘Monkey Bar’ for ones with a sweet tooth.

This was seriously the greatest French dip I have ever eaten. Small hole in the wall place in a tiny coastal Oregon town. The amazing smells overtake you when you walk in. I couldn’t decide because everything on the menu looked so good, so I just asked the lady at the counter wheat she recommended. She didn’t disappoint. Beef was piled 4″ high with a strong smoky taste. I would drive the three hours again just to have that sandwich.

This place deserves a 10 ! We never make it here because it is only open tue-fri from 11−3pm. I have had their catering numerous times and it was good. Ate here today and it was the biggest stack of smoked turkey on my sandwich. It was so good ! Hubby had the big dipper and it was loaded with fresh meat. Chips and homemade salsa was better than most Mexican restaurants. I also had a side of coleslaw and it was yummy. This place is small and the parking is akward and limited so to go orders are best. We will be back for sure. I had the bog gobbler !

Don’t let the sketchy exterior fool you. The interior has been tastefully updated and is very pleasant. Service was great. My wife and I both had cold sandwiches, the chikado and the bog hobbler which were both excellent. The sandwiches were served with tortilla chips and fresh salsa that was yummy. Glad we stopped.

Had the pulled pork sandwich and it was better than average. They use alder wood to smoke and it does not give much smoke flavoring. What ever they used for a rub also did not have much flavor. Staff very friendly and fast. The place was packed and they were pretty quick. A couple of things I would suggest the owners do is find a good rub with more flavor and use cherry wood to give it more smoke.

I can’t believe it… the reviews are serious… it’s awesome bbq. No ribs, though. We had a brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, a salad… and one each of the desserts. SOOOO glad we happened though town on a Tuesday.

The best BBQ on the west coast! I highly recommend the pulled pork and the tri tip. Cannot come thru coos bay and not stop here. I don’t write many reviews but this place deserves to be appreciated by others!!!

Hidden gem! Brother and I swing by during our road trip to the redwoods and boy oh boy was it delicious! We both got the smokehouse MMMMMMMM good! Meat was perfection, breading was top notch and not to mention every sandwich comes with homemade chips and salsa that was to die for! If you don’t stop here while driving though town, you’re doing yourself a disservice.

We were going by the reviews and decided to go check it out. I have to say this is the best pulled pork we have ever ate. The BBQ sauce is amazing also. We can’t wait to try out the rest of the menu.

We finally ate here after years. Very good sandwiches. My son Quickly downed his pork sandwich, loved it. My wife had the Smokehouse and i had the pulled pork. both were very good. Inside they only have about 4 – 5 tables in a small setting. Parking is tricky. My guess is lunch is busy. Even at closing we got the last table. We will be back.

Great little cubby hole with BIG flavors. Everything I’ve had has been great and I’m almost through the entire menu. They serve tortilla chips with their sandwiches which isn’t traditional for BBQ however, the pice de gallo they serve with the chips is the best I’ve ever had other than mine.
