Denny Creek Campground

This campground is incredibly pretty. The lush forest and clean clear creek make you feel like you’re miles from civilization, even though you’re less than an hour from Seattle. The hosts are nice, and the campsites are set well apart from each other which along with the beautiful undergrowth gives a great sense of privacy.
However, I cannot recommend this place if you plan on sleeping. The road noise from I-​90 is loud and omnipresent. We’d grab a few minutes of fitful sleep before a semi going up the hill would wake us up with a rat-​tat-​tat. If you’re deaf or insomniac, this campground gets five stars; otherwise, I can’t recommend it.

Tough for a novice but hella worth the pain. Pretty cool that it snowed when we hit a certain elevation.

Beautiful, well maintained campground! Highway (unseen) on either side of campground was VERY NOISY! Can’t imagine the traffic noise had it rained. Lots of trees & campsites were far enough apart to give illusion of privacy. Flush toilets were nice!

This campground is very nice and worth the price. We live in Renton, and it is within an hours drive to experience a national forest, and real camping. Denny Creek only has only 30 campsites, and they all have natural forest settings. Mother Nature made it a hard on us with all the rain, but we still certainly enjoyed ourselves.

Recently stayed at Denny Creek campground, site 19, for 2 nights, 3 days and was thoroughly impressed for a number of reasons. This campground is super close to Seattle, but it feels like a world away. It’s super accessible– only about 2 miles off of I-​90 on Exit 47, but the lush forests and Denny Creek do a pretty good job of shutting out the highway noise. Each of the sites is fairly large and private, and compared to some of the other campgrounds, they’re designed well so you’re not camping on top of your neighbor.
The best parts of this campground were hosts and how close it is to hiking trails. The two hosts were absolutely lovely. They helped us find extra parking for vehicles (national parks regulations only allow 2 vehicles per site), came by a few times to check on us, delivered firewood, and gave recommendations on where to go star gazing. They were friendly without being intrusive and not overly pushy.
This campground is situated about 200 yards away from the Denny Creek and Franklin Falls trailheads– two hikes that are perfect for families and novice hikers. There’s another hike that is great for more experienced hikers that a few in our group did, but the ease and accessibility to these trails from our campsite was amazing. Some in our group even brought their fishing poles and did some stream fishing– how often can you do that 30 mins from Seattle?
Another great perk of this campground over Tinkham (my usual go-​to campground) is that it has REAL bathrooms! Flush toilets, running water and mirrors! No more vault toilets for this girl! Woo hoo!
