Eel Creek R V Park & Campground

Clean place. Nice semi-​private spots. Kind camp host. Decent, but still to be expected, campground bathrooms.
NO SHOWERS!
Biking across the country, campgrounds have become a pretty usual staple. I have seen far worse, and the only thing that would make this place better is a shower.
People complain about he HWY 101 noise, and maybe I got lucky, but it wasn’t even noticeable. The morning had a rise in truck noise, though.

Extremely close to sand dunes (no dune buggies allowed, very safe).
VERY clean washrooms (running water, drinking water, no showers).
Sites feel very private (although we were there Monday night), lots of bushes in between sites.
No electricity, fire grates.

The campgrounds aren’t much to write about. In fact they were just pretty mediocre compared to some other campgrounds i’ve been to in the past. However, the biggest draw that this place has is the fact that it’s right next to the coastal dunes.
just a 3 minute walk from our campsite was a step into an awe inspiring landscape. Amazing sand dunes canvasing the landscape that seem like they are forever changing. It felt like we had left Oregon and stepped into the Sahara, but you could still see the forests in the surrounding areas along the horizon. Absolutely amazing.
The restrooms at these campsites were nothing to speak of either. They’re what you’d expect from a public park, and no showers on the premises either. Firewood is not available in the park, but is available just down the street.
We camped in early September, and the weather was amazing. A tad crisp in the morning, but otherwise awesome, sunny but not hot at all.
Nice quiet place literally right off the highway, so it’s easy to get to. Careful not to miss the sign though, as we did, and ended up driving ~8 miles past it before we realized it.

Great place to stay, actually this can be said of many of the campgrounds here in Oregon that are around the dunes. Nice amenities and plenty of spaces to park the trailer.

An unplanned stayover spot in between the majestic NorCal Coast Redwoods region and several hours drive up the Oregon Coast, this was our 2am pulloff after driving was no longer possible due to road trip fatigue.
After an aborted pass thru moribund Coos Bay (think cursed history of lynching, rusting logging equipment, site of massive oil spill, nasty deadly fire, etc… more about that in some later review) and some pub and grub in nearby, slightly less destitute North Bend (see, they’ve actually got a TAX base, with an airport, a casino, and a big ass shopping mall… and it’s a tax free state, go figgur’), we stabbed northward, fading fast.
The grounds were quite full as it was a fri nite, and we were some of the last peeps to find a site.
Despite the high season crowd, it was reasonably quiet there, with AMAZING views of the stars (luckily it was a moonless night), almost possible to see the milky way.
Cool as it’s close to the ocean, for brilliantly restful summertime snoozing.
Firepits, Picnic Tables, Flush toilets but no showers for those needing creature comforts. The grounds are well maintained and very clean.
Very close to the picturesque Umpqua Lighthouse St. Park, which, in addition to the eponymous lighthouse, showcases giant rocks and crashing waves and sits under a bomb-​ass view of an impressive,
mid-​20^th century over-​pass bridge. Take lotsa snappers.
Also a great jumping off point for forays into the nearby Oregon (Sand) Dunes National Recreation Area and the magnificent Siuslaw National Forest. Though judging from the multitude of dune buggies and jeri-​rigged hodge podge of ATV jalopies we saw on the drive up, something points to a less than serene day in the Dunes! :O}
I can’t say this campground itself provides the most scenic beauty in the central Oregon Coast region, as it was more a stop of convenience/​necessity rather than a carefully chosen one like some of the other AMAZING ones we found during our epic roadtrip thru all points in NorCali and Oregon.
But it certainly hit the spot when we needed… a SPOT!
