Customer service is terrible. I do not recommended anyone coming here. When I enter the salon I was not greeted. I had schedule an appt two days before ahead of time and I was sorted 15 mins late. They just look at you and bad mouth you with there nasty attitudes in there dialect.

I started working in north Brunswick about 2 years ago I live an hour away and my nail tech I used for over ten years was always so busy and booked on my days off and after working ten hours a day I didn’t wanna go sit in a nail salon so I noticed next door to my job there was a hair & nail salon I went over thinking I was just going to get a one time fill and I’ve been going there ever since now for two years the staff is very very friendly I’ve gotten many services there from hair cuts to blow out to Keirtian treatment pedicures nail fills and awesome nail designs I feel so comfortable at the salon everyone is friendly and the owner has done my nails many many times and I absolutely love the Professional friendly environment and not to mention that the décor is so cute.

One week and two days later and my nails are still intact and look like I had them done yesterday. 5 stars.

This place is a real diamond in the rough. Nice salons in North Brunswick seem few and far between, so I was happy to find Smileys. I stumbled upon it by chance, because I needed to have hair and makeup done for a special event. When I called, the receptionist was very friendly and finding an appointment time was easy. On the day of my appointment, there was no wait to start with my hair. The lady that did my hair knew how to deal with my thin, brittle hair. It seemed like nearly everyone at the shop was bilingual (English and Spanish). I really enjoyed everyone speaking in Spanish, even though I myself do not. I also didn’t feel alienated, because my stylist would switch to English when speaking to me and was very friendly. Anyway, she really listened to everything I had to say. She pinned up the curls while I was getting my makeup done so that they would set. After the makeup, my hairstylist took the pins out. The curls stayed all through the evening — that NEVER happens with my normally pin-​straight thin hair.
The girl that comes in to do makeup is named Chanel. She is AMAZING. I explained a lot to her about my skin tone, my hooded eyes, and the look I was going for. She gave me a lot of great tips along the way too for brushes and how she does different styles. I could not believe how great the makeup looked. It was BETTER than my wedding makeup. I really felt glamorous even though I normally never feel good about myself. With Chanel’s makeup skills though, I felt like I was going to a red carpet event! She uses high quality makeup and brushes as well. She is diligent about cleaning brushes in between clients. I brought my own foundation (since my skin can be weirdly sensitive), and she was happy to use that for me!
Also, the pricing is super reasonable. The cost of the makeup (incl. false lashes) was $ 60 and the hair was ~$ 30 (blow out and curl). Both prices are before tip. But still $ 90 for both services was AWESOME! They also do nails there in a separate room. I am thinking this will be my new salon from now on. It’s like a one-​stop shop with the variety of services offered! And it’s so refreshing to find a salon where the pricing is actually affordable.

I have natural Afro-​American hair– I did the big chop around 4 years ago now, and after my first visit to this salon all my great work went down the drain! I went to Sonia who was nice and said she was able to handle my natural hair, it seemed like once my hair got wet and reverted back to it’s curly state she got frustrated. After she finished washing and conditioning my hair, she tried to comb it out with a Wrap-​tail comb (very fine tooth comb) I felt her puling and racking my hair like she wanted to pull all my hair out (she combed my hair like my 2 year old did) with no technique to try and be gentle and comb the tangles out. I asked if she could use a bigger tooth comb and she said no this one is fine, as I seen she keep pulling more and more hair from the comb and put in the garbage (trying to hind how much hair she was pulling out).
When I first walked in they advertise the «Wet brush» (I guess for sale) at the reception station. I use this brush at home and it works amazing on my hair while wet, why couldn’t she use this on my hair since they have it already in the salon? I tried to talk to her but there was a language barrier that I didn’t really recognize until the receptionist came-​in. Sonia asked her to translate that I need to trim my ends, but I thought to myself — of course I would need a trim after all that racking my hair out, it must be uneven. Before coming here my hair was even, thick and beautiful, I got compliments often from my husband and strangers. But as soon as my husband saw me after Sonia was finished with my hair, he said «what happened to you hair it so thin now». He said «The only way my hair could look like this after this stylist was finished had to be intentional.»
I’ve been to numerous Dominican hair salons and never have I had someone who just did not care about the health of my hair. If you are like me who moved and looking for a new salon in NJ always ask questions first. Have both of you look at the state of your hair before she even touches it, and let her say if there are any issues. Ask questions like– For my hair, how would you wash my hair? what combs you have for my hair type? if you don’t like any of the answers Run! I’ve learned from other Dominican stylist who became my friends, advised — Always, always be gentle when combing your hair while it’s wet and use a big tooth comb.
I came to this salon on a week day and this lady had more then enough time to take her time because the salon was empty when I got there and only one other person came-​in towards the end. But for me now, I have to do a lot to repair the damage to my hair caused by the stylist at this salon. I wish I saved my money and never came to this salon! It hurts but If anyone out there can lend a word of advice or know of a good hair salon please feel free to let me know. Thank you in advance for your help.

Where do I begin? You walk in and get offered coffee! The décor is inviting, and you feel like you’re getting the personal treatment you deserve. Osmeily does amazing work. Honestly, it’s like wearing works of beautiful art. You don’t feel like a number or being rushed. After searching for a nail salon for almost 2 years, I finally found what I’ve been looking for. Go here, stop looking around for anywhere else!

The salon is very nice and so is the staff! Osmiley does an amazing job. She’s sweet and professional. She loves what she does and it shows in her work.
My nails have NEVER looked this good. I highly recommend you book an appointment here ASAP.
Also, the prices are fair. To do a fill, design, and reshape was $ 35. You definitely get what you pay for.

There are a lot of qualities about this salon that I like. I met the owner, who did my manicure, and she is lovely. She’s a nice young lady trying to make it and I respect her most valiant effort. The place is clean and the environment is great. It’s in a busy area and parking is no problem. It’s a small salon with much more room for the hair services than nails. I came in for a gel manicure. She squeezed me in on a busy Sunday which might account for the reasons that a few key steps in my manicure seemed to be left out. Most places I’ve gone include a hot towel service after the manicure, a good wash of the hands with scrub, and then a hand rub with lotion. This place did not. After curing under the light she wiped each nail clean and I was done. I left the salon with a good manicure that felt rushed at the end. I love the relaxing feeling of getting a manicure and I sincerely hope the owner takes this as helpful criticism. I wish the salon nothing but success and if she just takes her time she’ll find the extra attention will keep her customers. I’ll definitely try them again in a less busy time and update the review. I’m hoping to give her 5 stars next time.
