I did not make an appointment all i wanted to do was get an idea and try on a few dresses and not take up a stylist time if I was not going to buy. I was honest with that and got told no I had to make an appointment with a stylist. As a plus size bride already nervous with trying on dresses for the first time should have been a pleasant experience and it was not.

The wedding business is tricky, and being in a wedding can be even trickier! David’s Bridal is the bridal party «headquarters.» Come in, give the bride name/​number, get fitted and you’re on your way. Not so easy! First, it’s best to make a reservation. However, if you’re like me and don’t have time for all that, you walk in and wait. Luckily, I had kids with me during the visit so they rushed me in and out:) The fitting was a joke. They didn’t have the size dress that I thought I needed so they put me in the size below. Obviously, it was a tight squeeze. Thus, the worker said «ok, we will just order the size up. That will work.» What in the world? If it’s that easy, why even meet with the «fitting specialist?»
The girl was nice enough, but that fitting was a joke.
The killer-​2 employees behind the register, but neither could ring me up! They had to call someone else who took about 10 minutes to come.
Now I get to look forward to picking the dress up in 2 months!!! (Why does it take so long to get these dresses!!!)
David’s-if this bridal thing is going to be such a pain, at least offer drinks and snacks!:)

CHEYENNE was an amazing worker! She was able to figure out exactly what I wanted and helped me perfectly! I found my dress and she was the reason. I cannot express how good of a worker she is! She anticipated my needs and helped me pick good accessories for my dress.
The store was very clean and organized perfectly. They have many options and good price ranges for their dresses. They have an option for everyone.
They also have many different options for preserving my dress and helped me get a good choice.

David’s Bridal is sort of my «go-​to» for someone saying «I need a wedding dress». I never even thought about them for other events until today.
I stopped in with a friend to try and find a dress that she could use at her bridal shower and her rehearsal dinner. We just popped in — no appointment — and checked out what they had to offer. As soon as she picked a few options, we were led to the dressing room area where she was given a room. We were checked on by multiple staff, so that’s great. Unfortunately, they were all so busy with other customers that none of them were really devoted to anyone. For me, it isn’t a big deal, but I can definitely see that being an issue with someone who is searching for THE dress for their big day. They had enough staff that everyone could have maybe handled two clients and the floor would be covered. Im sure they have their reasons for doing it their way, though.
My complaints about this location are similar to what others have pointed out. I do feel like gown shopping is a personal thing, and can definitely understand why some people do not want to be paraded out with an ill-​fitting gown for the entire store to see. Also, some styles of dress are a bit finicky to order and takes months to get in. They do run some sales occasionally though, and they are cheaper than other boutiques in the area, so I would check them out.

I went twice looking for a wedding dress. The first time I felt rushed and the energy wasn’t great. I left unhappy with the experience even though I had an appointment for weeks.
The five stars comes from the service I had the second time I came in. Kyley helped me that time and I had so much fun! The first dress she pulled was everything I wanted from just a brief conversation with her. She was so nice and helpful and I loved talking to her. I didn’t feel rushed, I felt like she genuinely cared. I absolutely recommend her and can’t wait to go back for a bridesmaid dress for my friends wedding!

Reality TV will convince you that you need a $ 10,000 wedding dress in order to be happy. Not the case.
David’s Bridal is a very nice option for brides on a budget who want to look fabulous on their big days.
I bought my wedding dress from David’s, and we just recently helped my sister pick out her dress for her upcoming wedding. Both cost less than $ 1,000 and are beautiful gowns.
David’s has a great selection of wedding dresses, bridesmaids’ dresses, flower girl dresses and even prom dresses. They also have veils, shoes, jewelry and other accessories to make the wedding day complete.
The attendants are always very friendly and supportive. Everyone is there to make sure the bride is getting exactly what she wants.
The most fun is when a girl finds her dress. She’s given a bell and told to say a prayer and make a wish, then ring the bell as loud as the can to let everyone know she’s found «the one.»

Barbara Long in the Alterations department is by far the best the best seamstress I have ever worked with. She was faced with numerous challenges involving my wedding parties dress and handled them all with grace and beauty.
I recommend her highly as a trusted professional who possess a wealth of knowledge.

About a month ago, I had an appointment with David’s to try on some wedding dresses. I was the first appointment on a Sunday morning. I have to be honest and say that I had low expectations for David’s and didn’t actually expect to buy a dress there. We checked in and then were taken to an area in the middle of the store that has like a platform, mirrors and a small dressing room. It is not all that private, so if you go there expecting for only your people to see the dresses you trying on dresses, go somewhere else. Basically anyone in the store at the time will see you in your dress.
My consultant, Chris, met with me and my maid of honor and basically asked what kind of dress I thought I was interested in and what my budget was. I told her a few styles I liked and my budget. She then gave me a booklet of dresses to go through and asked me to dogear the styles I thought I would like. She then took off and went and gathered a few dresses.
My best advice for this place is to have an open mind and take recommendations from the consultant, but also be firm if you are really interested in a particular style or budget range. I was glad I gave Chris some leeway with style because she ended up bringing me a dress I would have never picked out on my own but ended up loving. It was also based on the tag, out of my price range, but ended up being 60% off! Overall I was happy with the experience at David’s and would recommend at least checking them out if you are looking for a wedding dress. I do have to say, they will probably harrass you with phone calls and emails if you don’t buy a dress from them, so that is something to think about.

Being in 3 weddings this year means that I spend a lot of time in David’s Bridal. Had a very pleasant experience and the bridesmaid dresses arrived super fast. Plus, they weren’t outrageously expensive like some other dress stores in Charleston.

I was very disappointed with this place.

I called David’s Bridal to make an appointment for the Joint Air Force Navy Ball. I bought my dress about 3 weeks in advance, and yes, I was being cheap and looking for under $ 100. I’d rather not spend hundreds of dollars on a dress for a ball…
So I made my appt, gave my info, (you know, name, phone number, size, EVENT.)
Well my husband came with me because of course he’s going to take part in buying my dress for the ball. I walked in and told her I had an appointment to get a dress for the military ball. The woman doesn’t invite us to sit or anything just asks who I am and starts typing and then says, «My son is at a military school too, what school do you go to?» My husband was like, «I’m not in school, I’m in the navy…» And she got all embarrassed and didn’t say anything else. Well I really had to use the bathroom, and told my husband he could wait up there. Well needless to say I almost peed myself when I walked out of the bathroom and he was standing there! I asked him what was wrong and he said, «She just stared at me so I figured I’d wait for you here…»
Poor guy! so I start looking for dresses, and the consultant was nice about getting me what I was looking for. I had 2 other girls tell me to let them know when I was ready to try on dresses, which was nice. They really didn’t have much in my size that wouldn’t make me look like a circus tent, which sucked, but I really needed a dress and was bound and determined to make something work.
I found a few and found a great dress. It fit perfectly everywhere, but it was over my $ 100. the consultant was nice and said even though it was such short notice, I could put it on layaway. Awesome, I could pay almost the whole thing today and the rest in 2 weeks and pick it up then.
When I went in to pay it off and pick it up, the frazzled woman at the desk asks me when my wedding date is. I was confused and said, «Uh… it was January 26, 2009» and she’s like, «You mean 2011?» No sweetie, I was married 2 years ago… So I say, «No… 2009… the dress I’m picking up is for a military ball…» She says, «Oh.» and they can’t find it. After they track it down, I pay it off, but by this time ANOTHER cashier has come over because the other one is busy literally talking down to a customer on the phone about an appointment. As soon as she got off the phone, she started trash talking the appointment in front of me! About hwo she had to reschedule for this time and that it was a pain and this consultant needed her at that time and blah blah blah.
I got home, and my mom was in town. I was ecstatic to show my mom the dress. I put it on, and I swear to god it was not the same dress. It was a 2 week time frame and I did not lose weight in my freaking shoulders (the straps were way too loose.) I wore the same bra to try on dresses that I was planning on wearing w/​the dress so that it would fit the same, but it did NOT fit the same.
Anyways, we just pinned them and had a great time at the ball, but with all my experiences combined with DB here in SC and WI and MI, I don’t think I’d be returning for any real heavy duty purchases that I didn’t plan on walking out with same day!
