For the past 15+ years my sons and I have chartered fishing boats out of Chatham, Sesuit Harbor, Rock Harbor. This year we decided to do a light tackle charter and found Cape Cod Charters, North Chatham, with whom we booked. Upon arriving at the dock in Ryder’s Cove I was asked to pay up front, which I did. This is the first time in 15+ years I had to pay before the trip began. The boat was a single engine small(compared to the other boats). It was dirty, no seat cushions, plastic bags strewn about the cockpit area. We did catch a few bluefish which the captain quickly informed us that he would let us keep a couple. The only striped bass landed on the boat was one he caught and he «graciously» let us keep it that also. He fished continuously and offered suggestions intermittently becomming aggravated with us if my son and I switched rods or a line broke. It was not the friendly, informative atmosphere normally found with charter boat captains. We were very dissapointed and its my feeling that once he was paid upfront, we were along for the ride for him to go fishing.

A wicked good time– we left our morning with an overflowing cooler and some great stories. Light tackle made hauling in our blues and stripers a lot of fun. Joe is a fantastic captain– good natured, a master of his craft, and very helpful.
