Varney Playground

A very nice park tucked away in a Chelmsford neighborhood.
There are 2 tennis courts, a baseball field, and a large lake with a small sandy beach and a kids play area designed like a huge colonial fort. Also basketball court (double rims, unfortunately) and a Coke machine by the court. Parking is wherever you can find a spot on the road, or if you go up by the tennis courts there is a small dirt area.
Watch out for kids playing in the street as you’re driving. Heavily populated, but we had no trouble using the courts. No lights, either, so make sure you go during the day.
Overall a nice, private place to play tennis or bring your kids to a cool play area while you lounge on the little beach and look for crabs or skip stones. Rowboats and flotation devices allowed in lake, not sure about motorboats (doubtful).
