When I was researching karate schools for my son, I was trying to avoid a commercialized«every kid gets a black belt» kind of school. This is definitely not that type of school. Henry Agri, the owner, is an 8th degree black belt, and really knows how to teach. He is present for all classes. He keeps his classes small, and always has well-trained assistants who teach with him. This allows each kid to receive tons of 1:1 attention and instruction. I really can’t say enough about this school. The owner and all of his instructors are enthusiastic and extremely skilled. Every class I have observed has been a positive, high energy learning environment with focus on form and safety, while also putting much emphasis on important life lessons to build character and self-confidence in each student. So if you are looking for a karate school that will provide excellent instruction that is also fun, I highly recommend this school. My son has made so much progress during his first year, not only with learning karate, but with self-confidence and many other life skills that are too numerous to list.

There are an unbelievable number of martial arts studios in the area. As a former karate student myself, I shopped aggressively to find a good, solid studio for my 8-year-old son. Henry Agri, the owner, teaches most of the classes himself and has an exceptionally kid-friendly demeanor for someone who’s only four people down from the founders of Kenpo karate. The classes are taught very differently from my day, with an emphasis on understanding why you’re doing something as opposed to constant repetition. My son enjoys it so much he’s going three days a week and always looks forward to it!
