This place feels like a rip-off of some other popular local gastropubs that we frequent, but less«from scratch.» I wish we hadn’t gone when they were new-ish, only opened in December. Wasn’t busy on the night we went and service was friendly, but not competent. We had to ask the prices because there were NONE on the drink menu. Waitress said the cocktails were«maybe $ 8 – 9.» I could live with that I guess. There was no beer menu. She didn’t have the taps memorized and later sent the other waiter who was more knowledgable – when we asked he said there were over 20 bottles too, and what did my husband like? It was annoying to have to narrow down from a verbal list and not browse. My husbands beer was handed to him in a bottle, no tray, no glass, and my cocktail arrived 5 – 10 minutes later. Tiny glass, mostly ice. Tasty but TINY. Will try to post the pic. The food service was incredibly slow and was just ok on arrival. Seriously nothing we’d want to return for. Kids didn’t like the Mac and Cheese, and I promise they’re not«Kraft kids.» It was bland. Pretzels were not homemade, chicken slider’s waffles were fresh but the dish lacked the certain zip we were expecting from the spicy maple syrup dip. Gnocchi were maybe fresh but not homemade either, heavy and even more so in the creamy sauce with sausage that was overcooked and tough. Portion was huge if that’s what you like. Husband has a sandwich I can’t remember that he said was just okay. Maybe we ordered… Kids were to eat free on Mondays and we had to ask twice to have their charges removed from the check. They also never asked the kids if they wanted the dessert that came with their meals and they sat for at least 45 minutes from the time they apps/kid food was served with nothing while we painfully waited for our entrees. It was a 2 hour dinner. We never even thought to ask for it, we just wanted to get out of there. Owner’s dad is nice but you have to want to have extra company at your table all night. We’ll see if it lasts. I don’t like to see anyone fail in a business, and if they can figure out what to do and who they are, the area can use a kid friendly place like this to stick around.

My husband and I went for dinner for the first time last night. Very nice space, great décor. The staff were attentive and courteous. We were seated right away. The menu was creative and included a good brewpub selection of choices. From the appetizers to the entrées and dessert we were very happy. Food was tasty and well prepared. They also had a fun selection of cocktails and drink pairings. We will be back again!

We’ve come 3 times and had a wonderful experience each time. Sometimes we sat at the bar and once with our children/grandchildren. My husband enjoys the craft beers. The food is both creative and delicious. The staff is very nice and try to accommodate in any way. Its so nice to have a place to go where its not just the same old bar food. Everything is fresh and created by this wonderful young chef.

OMG!!! Amazing! After reading all the reviews both pro and con, I am DEFINITELY a fan! WE sat at the bar because the upstairs was already busy at 6ish. We sat with the owners at the bar, such wonderful people, their son the chef/owner has done an outstanding job with the restaurant, menu and bar. For only being opened a short time, the food is amazing and flawless. The offerings at the bar,…spot on! We started with wings, they were great and a welcomed amount of veggies,(more than 3 celery sticks) carrots too… Waldorf slaw, Was genius! What a combo. The Mrs. Had gnocchi and broccoli rabe, tasty and great portion, I had the PB, L&T how can you not like pork belly anything.?? On a pretzel roll, with arugula, the flavors were forgive me,(ORGASMIC) could not help myself… The bar is stacked well, beer equally so, and great music. The TV’s were a great addition, even though some moron reviewed that there should not be a TV, just one showing the Logo… idiot.(Sorry) I am coming back Since I have to eat my way thru this menu. I will come early since I saw so many people coming in after 7, but I am sure I will be there at the bar for a few hours to say the least. Give this Gastropub a shot, forget the nasty people reviews this is GREATFOOD! Try it!

This was my first time here. The staff is really attentive and the food was out of this world. Had a scallop and pork belly app and a PBL&T. Wife and mom shared wings. Wife had a short rib rueben and mom had a steak salad. This place is a nice change of pace to the area. Met the chef Tyrrell. Cooked everything to perfection. If you have a chance, you have to stop in for a drink and some food. Jeff L. Forgot to mention, I brought my 2 yr old son and the mac and cheese was a hit with him as well as the Chefs dad.

Stopped in for an early lunch on Saturday, and sat at the bar. They have a few beer taps and a great selection of reasonably priced bottled craft beers. We had the pulled pork nachos and a burger. Both were awesome. We met and talked with chef/owner Terrell. A real gentleman, who is passionate about his place, and it shows. He told us that almost everything on the menu is locally sourced and fresh. He even makes his own tortilla chips for the nachos. The place was nicely decorated and very comfortable, with a cool upstairs space as well. It’s a little out of the way for us, but I’m looking forward to going back very soon. This is the kind of place that locals should be swarming to. Worth the trip. I wish I had a place like this in my neighborhood.

Excellent food, service, décor, and just a great vibe. I will be back. Super sweet father of the owner/chef came to speak with us. The drinks were off the hook. It is a bit expensive for the cocktails though, so don’t get carried away. They taste so good that you can slug them down easily but the bill adds up just as quickly.

Hello De-Lish. Had the nachos & coco vine. get in my tummy !! Very simply put if you want an Sunday dinner with the«family welcome» mixed with a welcome to a night off with the kids come come on in. Have a few little ones who are picky? Let the chef know they have a kids menu !. Along with the ambitious & delicious menu, from what i encountered the chef will happily flavor a meal for all tastebuds(and ages). The family feel & foundation is what they seem too be built on & value. My recommendation: try it ! Ages 5 – 96! The menu is sure too please & from my experience if it doesn’t they will make it right ! Don’t forget to to start(or finish)!with the chickn & waffle sliders

Amazing place! We stumbled on this place by mistake and it was a total find. The pork belly sandwich was amazing, sushi tuna sandwich was really good. The chef came out and asked how the food was — the general manager helped us pick our lunch. The employees here are very nice and obviously committed. The bottle beer list is fantastic. They have 7 beers on tap– really good selection. I highly recommend it.

Came here last Saturday for the 1st time. The good news is the staff is very friendly & courteous. The owner’s father goes around checking on everyone, making sure everyone is enjoying themselves & liking the food. 3 of us had burgers, my daughter had the kid’s meal pizza. The burgers were very good. Delicious! One of the best burgers that I’ve had in a long time. My daughter’s pizza was also very tasty & fresh. The bad news is it took over an hour &15 minutes for them to make the burgers. We ordered before the 2 people next to us, they got their food first, finished eating, paid their check, & left before we even got our food. We also had fried calamari for an appetizer which took over 30 minutes to be cook, it was a little undercooked, but had good seasoning & flavor. Our waiter told us about 4 or 5 times that our food was coming & that the kitchen was backed up. That was nice, but burgers shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes tops to cook. The restaurant wasn’t crowded at all. We were given a complimentary dessert which was good, but we had to ask for it, it wasn’t offered to us. Things that need improvement: quicker service, a beer list, prices on the menu for drinks, more types of burgers on the menu. Will try Prohibition again in the future to see if it improves.

Great food, great service, great people. The food was really good with a lot of very interesting flavors. We will definitely be back. One small thing that I’d suggest to the owners is that it’s a bit too bright upstairs, but otherwise no complaints!

This place is a gem and much needed in this town! I have gone a few times by myself due to my boyfriend and I working different schedules and once with my mom… I honestly love it here! The staff is wonderful and make you feel like an old friend. They are friendly without being fake or overbearing and make you feel welcome. The food is wonderful. I love the tuna burger but I also recommend the black bean burger which is very tasty and not dry or fried tasting like most places. It is wrapped in a warm tortilla with fresh puréed avocado and is outstanding. The beer taps are fresh and the place is spotless . As for people complaining about the music, no I do not like some of the music played but for the most part it is fine and not loud at all. You cannot stop someone from playing what they want to listen to. Honestly, most of the music played the times I have been there has been fine, nothing offensive or crazy! I truly hope people take time to stop in and support this family who is trying hard and putting out great food

Awesome food! The menu is outrageous. Seriously wanted to order everything. The food was off the hook delicious. Chicken and waffles is slamming, this place doesn’t disappoint! Lovely owners and warm inviting feeling. The ambiance and décor was so welcoming. I definitely enjoyed my experience here and will be back to try more! Can’t wait to bring more friends and family back. The executive chef, general manager and management team are super friendly, professional and passionate about what they do and it shows!

Great place to stop for a beer with some friends on the first floor or head to the second floor for a quiet meal with family. What an awesome spot. The owner really took the«Prohibition«theme to the next level. Look out for the signs on the outside windows. There is also a book shelf door to the first floor. Even the drinks seems very well thought out. There were a couple craft whiskeys that I tried that were very good. I was also very happy that they had a veggie burger on the menu… most places overlook us vegetarians. Overall, definitely a splash of life to an area that doesn’t have a lot of restaurants /bars. Highly recommend! !

I have been to prohibition several times now and while I have to agree with some of the other reviewers that they have some kinks to work out I am still giving them 5 stars because none of the issues were anything out of the ordinary for a new local business. Its also obvious that they have the experience, talent and desire to fix them so no worries there. The concept is fresh, I like the whole prohibition/speakeasy vibe. Plus its refreshing to see a local place with a concept outside the usual(Italian, Irish Pub, sports bar, etc). That being said it still very much has that comfortable home town feel. While the whole place is tastefully done, the upstairs dining room has a more refined vibe to it while the downstairs feels more casual but its all warm and welcoming. Whats really going to get you though is the food. This is not one of those local places where the owner is a retired firefighter who had a good chili recipe(not that I don’t love those types of places too). The executive chef here has been in the profession for a while and the menu reflects it(while a bit small it has some creative items on it) My first order(actually during their pre-opening as they worked up to their grand opening) was their burger and a side house salad. Both blew me away. As a pre-opening I expected some mistakes and misfires however the food was perfect. I know it sounds like a paid advertisement but if I ever had a better burger I can’t remember it. So much detail was considered. The ground beef is a chuck and short rib blend so its juicy and flavorful. The bun is brioche, the red onions are pickled and there is a zesty garlic aoli that does not overpower the other flavors. In my opinion its strikes the sweet spot — I mean though creative it still tastes like a burger. The creative touches enhance the fact that its a burger and doesn’t change it to something else. I am not a big salad person most of the time but even the house salad was a nice surprise. The house dressing is a homemade white balsamic vinaigrette of the chef’s creation and is delicious. I have since been there a couple of times trying their chicken jambalaya, fish and chips, fried pickles and Ruben burger(not all on the same visit) and all were superb. I can go on and on about these dishes too but my fingers are getting tired. I guess the most important takeaway a reader should get about this place is that you should try it, especially if you are local and looking for a great bite in a comfortable surrounding.

We stopped in to see the new place — only had appetizers but they were both awesome — had the fries with gravy and pulled short rib & fried pickles … the people were really friendly and the atmosphere relaxed and casual. Unique drinks — specialty whiskey and moonshine — I’ll be back to try some of the other menu items that caught my eye.

This place has the utmost potential. I hate to even write reviews this early in the restaurants career because I’m sure they know just as much as every customer they have a lot of issues to fix. So please take this as constructive criticism, i will undoubtedly be back in a couple months to experience your restaurant again and to update my review! Hopefully for the better. First off i only had drinks, no food. So this review is a reflection upon that circumstance. Atmosphere: I love the concept. These are the types of bars i always want to go to in NY they have such cool designs. Unfortunately this one falls very short. The only thing this place had going for it as a prohibition bar is the awesome bookshelf door at the entrance, also the stone walls on the inside could definitely give this place the«basement type» feel. Unfortunately between the music, lighting, and TVs its like a sports bar. Turn down the lights a bit, especially at night. When we were there at 10pm it was like Yankee stadium. Also, although the Juke Box is cool, people, including myself, playing Skrillex and 50 cent kind of throw off the atmosphere you are aiming for. Play your own music, something that sets the tone. Also, either turn off the TVs or maybe have them just display your logo or something. There is about 6 TVs playing sports and you can clearly see them right through the windows out front with the neon beer signs, it does not feel prohibition at all. Maybe you can black out the windows or something. Drinks: We ordered 4 drinks total, 2 Moscow mules, a whiskey and some other sour drink with maple syrup. the 2 Moscow mules were good, the whiskey was nothing special, the sour one was awful. Bartenders should taste each drink before they put them out, it could have definitely used more maple syrup to add sweetness, it was like eating a sour candy. PRICES! Eww. $ 13/drink –_– come on now. This isn’t NYC. i feel $ 9-$ 10 would have been more appropriate. Too much competition in the area to be charging that especially for drinks that are NOT unique or mixed to absolute perfection. Also put the prices on the menu please, that’s really annoying to most people. Service: The place was not full at all so service was great. The owner/chef’s father was walking around and he was extremely courteous and very inviting. Great man. The waitress i could tell is a total newbie. She was very nice but any experienced waitress would have questioned why the Sour/Maple syrup drink was not even half way finished or when we asked for the menu to order a 2nd round of drinks why we never did. Obvious signs that should warn her to ask questions to the customer in order to gather information and possibly keep us there buying more or coming back. Overall this place could be amazing. I love the concept, i love the location considering it is near my home. I am just very disappointed with the prices and execution of the concept. I know this place is still very brand new and i absolutely plan on coming back for drinks and food. I want this place to be 5 stars. Lets see in a few months.

So… where do I start? By 9pm on opening night they were out of three of the menu options that I wanted to try the most. Food that came out was returned back to the kitchen for being subpar. Mixed drinks were unimaginative. Only two taps on the second floor and the waitress wouldn’t run beers from downstairs where there was a much larger tap and bottle selection. There were multiple phantom charges on our bill that had to be taken off since we never ordered what we were charged for. There was a Cutty Shark rep on hand that departed at 9pm(on opening night??). The«general manager» was busy sitting with family and friends and only came to our table for a few seconds to bring out some food. Entrees took over an hour to arrive with barely any patrons left in the upstairs dining area. The downstairs bar is quite quaint and homely but that didn’t make up for the horrible mixture of OK food, and inattentive staff on OPENINGNIGHT. We were VERY excited to try this place out. Great concept. horrendous execution.

We took a chance and dropped into Prohibition at the Rathskeller restaurant with friends. What a great surprise to find the most imaginative menu. From appetizers to desert we enjoyed every bite. The service was super. Friendly place. We will be back again and again.
