Came here for their fall festival. Beautiful surroundings and a quaint little house. We thought that there was going to be an actual castle. Our boys were disappointed. But the face painting and vendors made for a pleasurable visit.

This old building and the beautiful parcel of waterfront property on which it sits are amazing places of history and memory. The past is palpable in this spot. The ancient beams inside the building and its crooked roofline sagging with the weight of centuries of New England seasons are steeped in history. The whole landscape here was an important place for the pre-contact Narragansetts and their ancestors who lived here for thousands of years, the mass grave at this site of colonists killed in King Philip’s War stands as a grim reminder of a bitter and unsavory chapter of American history. The interior of the house is loaded with appeal for anyone with an interest in historic homes, there is a lovely garden, the whole place is gorgeous. But in my opinion there is much more to this place than that. To visit this place is to interact with the past.
