This had to be the weirdest, eeriest experience at a restaurant I ever had. When we walked in it took forever for someone to greet us so we basically ended up seating ourselves. This older lady(who I’m assuming was the greeter) proceeded to tell us about the company and food which was great but I soon realized she had no concept of personal space. Whenever she would come over, she would lean real close and drag out everything she wanted to say. Anyway, we didn’t get our food or water until about 30 minutes after we ordered. The food just wasn’t for me and the waitress got my order wrong. When we were leaving the old greeter lady came back and asked«do you want to box that food up?». When I said«no thank you» she leans over at me and says in the creepiest of voices«people worked really hard on that meal so you should really take it home» so of course I was weirded out and said«ok». She comes back to me with a very dirty ziploc bag to stuff the uneaten food in and when I told her it was dirty she said she didn’t notice… So weird

Food is good but getting it is impossible. Takes forever to even make an order yet alone receive it. Called in an order at 12 got there at 12:30 not even made yet and they cook tells me that someone else picked up the phone. Huh? Maybe if you have an hour or two to wait on some eggs go here. But lost my business no doubt.

Maybe I went on a bad day. Because everything about this place was far from good. As soon as you walk in there’s an awkward smell. I tried to bypass that because of the reviews. When we received out eggs Benedict the hollandaise sauce tasted expired. I know it makes no sense but it was extremely bitter we didn’t finish our brunch and had to order something sweet elsewhere to remove the bitter taste. I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Wait time is long and I mean LONG. The setting is dated and I mean DATED. The service is peculiar and I mean PECULIAR. That is why we love it! There is no place like it. Grateful Bread seems like a not-for-profit commitment to the community. David(the owner) could choose not to grind his grain at every bake, serve only organic ingredients(even the blueberries in his pancakes and the Norwalk cold pressed Carrot juice. Over pay, overtip whatever you can to give back to this very special place. Thank you David and staff!

Pacakes are a must try. The service was slow but they have an orthopedic chair you can hang out in while you wait… great place!!!

Most amazing place. This is the deal with this place… keep an open mind when walking in. It will confuse you and you might start to get irritated in the beginning but you will grasp the concept by the end. Weird looking, slow service, small menu. Once you get passed that you get the most amazing organic food all made from scratch which explains the wait, the cheapest breakfast around, and by the end you will probably meet the owner and his wife and decide for yourself why you should support a mom/pop establishment like that instead of a mass produced commercial place that leaves you with a stomach ache for the rest of the day. A lot of hippies go there.

To start — this is not a place you want to come to for breakfast if you are in a hurry, but the food is worth the wait. The lady and I have visited Grateful at least 15 times now, and the food has never disappointed. All food is prepared fresh for you — hence the wait. If you are in a bit more of a hurry, make sure to call in advance and they can have your food made when you arrive. About 15 – 25 minutes advance warning should suffice. As for the interior, it is nothing over the top, but feels more like eating at the table at home. The servers are efficient and courteous. The owner is always there and if a very great person to sit and have a talk with. Prices here are probably the lowest in the area — and the owner doesn’t want to raise them. Make sure to grab yourself a loaf of freshly made bread — no preservatives, so you will want to eat is quickly, but it is very tasty!

The people who leave less than four star reviews don’t understand this place. They walked in and judged for what they SAW rather than what they TASTED. Yes, there is a massage chair and funky looking shoes, because the owners wife is a massage therapist. Also, have you ever been on that chair? It’s INCREDIBLY relaxing and moves blood in a way that reduces stress. Yes, the service is not your hasty HELLOMYNAMEISTIFFANYWOULDYOULIKEMETORUBYOURFEETWHILEYOUWAIT? These girls know exactly what they are doing which is making bomb, organic food. Nothing is pre-made or boxed or frozen garbage. The food you get is filling and delicious. The pancakes are the most dense and amazing pancakes I have had in my life. Also, if there is an award for worlds best home fries, this place would win it hands down. Summary: Only place from Aventura to homestead where you can get fresh, organic breakfast food for two for $ 10.

Great food, always a pleasure tasting the food here. Everything cooked with love. Not a place to go if you’re in a hurry, but you can call and place your order in advance for faster service. Nice place to take in the morning.

No menu. No service. A massage table in the middle of the floor. Shoes for sale in the corner between two dirty leather couches. I don’t understand how this place stays in business.

Do not come here for your own safety! After reading the reviews and seeing the pictures on Unilocal,we decided to look at what appeared to be a quaint little breakfast nook. Were we ever wrong! First, there are only a couple of tables that can be seen from the windows and that gave us the first indication that something was wrong. Next the door advertised that this place also did massages and sold shoes. We walked in and the«hostess/server was asleep on the sofa, the place smelled like really dirty feet and the cook appeared out of the back«kitchen» that looked more like an old dry cleaning establishment, looking a zombie/methamphetamine addict. The menus were printed on a piece of paper the size of a hotel notepad and had about 4 things on it. Let’s just say we left politely and sanitized once we got back to the car. For the customer: Don’t eat here. I wouldn’t send this places food to a 3rd world country. For the business: Close your doors and call the Heath Inspector before you serve anything to anyone to avoid a lawsuit.

Love! Love! Love the food! Allow enough time for food preparation and the service is so so…

Here’s the deal: Food is good(and all organic): I had the veggieBene, small portion of veggies which were slightly overcooked, and one of my eggs was overcooked as well. On the bright side, this organic meal was only $ 6.95. Service is atrocious: We walked in and saw some guy sitting on the sofa chair reading the paper, and he said hello… we proceeded to seat ourselves in this small, quaint, café-style corner. After waiting for about 30 minutes(for just poached eggs and veggies), and not seeing anyone other than the guy in the chair we asked, «how does this work, where do we grab a menu or order?»…suddenly, a young woman, looking not-so-enthusiastic, came out with a small 4×3 paper that had 5 menu items on it(all eggs Benedict) — we ordered immediately. As I am typing this, it has been about 30 minutes since we’ve ordered, and another set of people waked in, circled around aimlessly and asked us, «how does this work», which we replied, «just talk out loud and ask for a menu” — long story not-so-short, service, or lack thereof is this gem’s downfall. Cane-A-Sucre is next door.

Our experience began a little awkwardly. We walked in and looked at the menu. There were two older men in the front room but neither greeted us in a way that said«we work here/own this restaurant» eventually we were asked if we wanted anything. We took two eggs Benedicte home with us, which were delicious… But, as others have said, the service was slow. I would suggest calling ahead to order. Food is great and people are nice, would definitely recommend to others :)

The food was good but not good enough to make up for the horrible almost non existent service. I walked in to see some couches and huge massage chair. Stood there for about a minute waiting for some kind of acknowledgement. Finally an elderly man came out from the kitchen and I asked if I can sit anywhere. He looked at me like I said something crazy. Then I said«I’m here to eat, do I sit anywhere?» He said«oh yea». The waitress brought me the breakfast«menu» which is a little square piece of paper with 4 items listed. She’s a low and lazy talker. Like its taking all of her to talk. I ordered and got my food but she never asked if I wanted something to drink. Never checked up on me after I got my food. Didn’t bring me the check. I had to knock on the kitchen door to let them know I was ready to go. The old man asked me what I had to eat then thought about it and gave me a total. In my my thirty years of life I have never experienced such weirdness at a restaurant. I won’t be returning.

My favorite breakfast in Miami. Has the most amazing pancakes. It’s as if you traveled centuries back and tasted the food the way it used to be. The freshest breads and cookies. Veggie Benedict is to die for. Complete local foodie spot. Don’t get deterred by the cimplicity of this place as it’s a serious hole in the wall but worth every bite! Check out their website for some serious stats on gluten nutrition.

Was not expecting to run into a place like this in FL. It reminded me of a NY style hidden secret. Great breakfast and friendly staff. The oatmeal cookies are amazing as well. I would def come back the next time I am in town.

This place use to be a Haitian bakery. I stepped in expecting to order some patties and found out that this place was different. The setting was unorthodox and looked like I stepped into another country. The menu was filled with gourmet bread and salads. I was treated to their Greek salad with chick peas for lunch. It was prepared fresh and included guacamole dip and gourmet” pita bread on the side. This salad was big(lasted two days) and filling. I would come back for lunch even though I have to say good bye to my Haitian patties.

We love this place. One of the few spots left in Miami that hasn’t been superficially stylized to please a hip audience. The owner David possesses a lot of integrity when it comes to the excellent ingredients he uses. Everything is made fresh to order. Pros: most delicious and nutritious pancakes and breakfast foods. You can eat so much for so cheap while maintaining a clear conscious that the ingredients you are consuming are wholesome and organic. The atmosphere is mellow, laid back and regulars will often approach you in a friendly manner. Definitely try the wholesome and super tasty cookies upfront– buy a bag for your entire office– they will love you! The lunch salads are so filling and again so adorable… Cons: some times you have to wait a long time for food to come out so don’t show up really hungry and don’t go when you are on a time crunch. It’s mostly because everything is fresh made to order(it’s worth the taste) I wish they would not buy costco brand coffee :-(I know it’s $ 1 for unlimited refills but the meal would be so much better with well done coffee. The ladies preparing and serving the food tend to be unfriendly, unable to communicate well and often have a very challenging time multi tasking. Do not get frustrated when the girls cannot properly calculate the simple change they owe you. DONOT expect killer customer service– just go there accepting what is. The yummy food is worth it! Lastly it’s a huge disappointment that their menu offers organic carrot juice made to order because they rarely will prepare it or have it stocked in the fridge. It is seriously the most sweet and refreshing carrot juice ever. Support this great business, order their strawberry banana pancakes!

Fresh, local bread, they make their own pita and sliced bread(I thinks Vegan, almost 90% sure). Their menu has about — roughly — eight choices, mostly Vegetarian, with simple delicacies such as sandwiches and salads. Their Greek salad is $ 5 and it’s a heavy portion, topped with an adequate amount of their homemade pita bread. Grateful’s doesn’t have the variety of choices like Cane a Sucre, but it’s a great place to check out and support!
