The food is excellent but the attitude of staff and host were awful which brings this rating to a 2. I suggest they show more respect to their customers. They were rude and it felt like we were inconveniencing them because we didn’t have a reservation even though the restaurant was not at capacity.

We come to Tria frequently and usually enjoy it. Tonight was my wife’s birthday, so we went for the complimentary wine and the meal. My beef tournedos were rare rather than medium rare, but the one I ate was half sinew and half incredibly tender. My wife’s sea bass didn’t live up to past standards. They were very busy, so the lukewarm food was excusable. We will go back, but tonight was disappointing. We returned for a friend’s birthday and were much more pleased. I had a salmon special that was excellent. My wife ordered and birthday girl had the walleye and were pleased. Guy 2 had meatloaf, which, though prosaic, was actually damned good. Service was excellent all the way through, prompt and pleasant.

Great service — we sit in the bar. Decent food and drinks for the area — there’s not much else around. Be prepared to spend some money — probably around $ 50 – 70 for two people for two meals and a couple of glasses of wine. It’s not impressive if you are trying to host people for a nice event –head to Acqua in White Bear to do that. Stay away from sauteed vegetables as a side. They are stingy strings of vegetables almost like coleslaw size. Their martinis and wine list are the best things about Tria.

Out of respect for the very heartfelt service and effort from conscientious wait staff and the free dinner from work I must give 2 stars. But this is the second time work has brought us here and I got the talked-up beef tournedos with shrimp and asparagus.(For my last visit the 8 oz. filet was overdone and sinewy.) Tonight the food arrived at a glacial pace(but the wait staff were VERY friendly and dynamite) since maybe the kitchen was slammed, although we made a 20 person reservation and I saw another company did too. My beef tournedos were miniscule. One was rare and not seared, which makes rare palatable. The other 1.75 ounce estimated tournedo out of the 2 was indeed medium, and both had sinew. The individual shrimp was room temp and tasted fishy. The pair of 1.75 oz. each tournedos were room temp. The bearnaise sauce was room temp, not of the same quality as Capital Grill’s Courvoisier crème sauce and it must’ve been 8 liquid ounces. The mashed potato was room temp. The chocolate dessert was a pedestrian plate, chopped cake, Gordon Food Service chocolate sauce and a small amount of vanilla pudding. I actually will come back and take my wife to update this review because I feel really badly about 2 starring a place with such great wait staff and such gorgeous tables and chairs. Another note, sometimes we have big reservations elsewhere where the seating is best suited to quadruple amputees or at least double arm amputees because the seats are so jammed together. Tria was NOT the case. So I will return for happy hour and hope to have a 5 star meal.

We were in recently celebrating a birthday so received a bottle of wine with our meal. I ordered the Filet while my husband ordered the Strip. We both added a wedge salad to our meal as well. Food came out at a good pace, we both ordered Medium for the temperature and while my husbands was perfect temp and doneness mine was not even close. I didn’t mind that it was a little undercooked what I minded was my steak was cold, even the outer crust wasn’t warm. It was like I was eating a left over steak I had just pulled out of my fridge. It was incredibly disappointing. I was unable to alert our server as he had disappeared for 10 mins and by the time he finally stopped by I had managed to eat my meal as I was hungry and wasn’t willing to wait for them to heat up my steak with the possibility of over cooking it or eating at a separate time from my husband. Long story short, the night was fine, we were both disappointed in my meal and next time might sit in the restaurant vs the bar area to get a server who pays a little more attention to the table. We will be back because we both enjoy the restaurant just hopefully next time the food isn’t cold.

One our favorite places to eat. The food is always great and the atmosphere is quiet and somewhat romantic. They have frequent special occasion nights and menus that are well worth a try.

I have been there several times over the past 5 years. Food is good, service is good, However, had a bad experience last night 9−19−15. I organized a group of 11 to dine. Food was good although 2 orders were wrong. The waiter was terrible and disrespectful. It will be a long time before I come back.

I really like this place. It’s super cozy in the winter and they have a great patio for the summer. Have been here on several occasions and each time the food and service has been nothing but great. It’s nice to have a classy place to go for a happy hour or dinner in the suburbs.

Really I was there one week after my birthday and you all did not offer me anything other than programmed music and no free dessert ! Why would I come back? Manny’s treats me better and there is atmosphere there this place needs to upgrade their staff and ambience this place is in the middle of no where

Good not great. I’ve been there a few times and out always is a little below my expectations. Probably just because the prices set my expectations high.

Stopped in for cocktails and some appetizers. The octopus is awesome, I need to see if Brian(the Chef here) will tell me his secret to making it nice and tender.

Wonderful options, great flavors. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys a great wine, meal and dessert. Service was excellent. The lobster mac n cheese was just as delicious as it sounds. Will be a regular here!

Nothing can overcome bad service and a bad first impression. The food is actually very excellent and I adore the atmosphere and made sure I sat in the bar area tonight which i find more pleasing than the little dinning alcoves I was in last time. Unfortunately there seemed to be a ton of confusion this evening and bad management at this place. I went because it was my birthday and I was really looking forward to having a good meal with my husband who just got back from a business trip. We went in and were looked at by several staff/servers but nobody said anything we were there well over 10 minutes with no acknowlegment. Finally one guy approached us and I said did we need to be seated here and he said oh no you have a server i don’t know where he is but we can certainly get you drinks — I told him it was my b-day and i wanted ice water while i looked at the wine choices. All of a sudden we had a server – he brought our water over and made nice chit chat and we explained that we were tired and just wanted to relax, unwind, and have a cocktail as soon as possible. Well— He disappeared again for over 15 – 20 minutes. All we had was water at our table. I was approaching boiling point near this time… so i went out to find somebody and the female bartender intercepted me. I asked if we needed to move to another area to get some service she said she would take care of us. She took my wine order and finally somebody was available to ask a couple questions about the wine and menu. All of a sudden when the wine arrived the other server was back. Once I got my wine and some bread and salad i was more content – but really although everyone was pleasant and the food was good. It was my birthday and I wanted to have a great dramatic free evening with my husband we ended up waiting waiting waiting to get anything and then it because awkward and we felt like we were being talked about all evening among the staff. I just have a lingering bad feeling about my experience tonight. To the bartender’s credit she was friendly and touched base with us a few times and wished us well on our way out but there is absolutely no excuse as to the lack of service we got during this visit. It’s a Monday night and they were not that busy.

Great food and atmosphere. Staff is very friendly. Free bottle of wine and dessert on your birthday. Awesome happy hour and the patio is one of the best in our area. One of our top picks!

We celebrated a birthday at Tria last night and enjoyed the free bottle of wine ! That was the best part of the dinner. One would assume that what is advertised as the Saturday night special would be a well-perfected dish. It was labeled Beef Bourguignon, BUT it should have been called Pot Roast with gravy and mashed potatoes. My husband found one pearl onion and I found one mushroom! The taste was OK although the meat was dry .It was definitely not like any other Beef Bourguignon I have ever had! It seemed pricey compared to other similar restaurants we have visited locally. .

Great food and service. Our server Raymond was excellent. Everything exceeded our expectations. I had a salmon special that had to be the best salmon I have ever had. The caesar’s salad was also amazing. Highly recommend you try Tria

My husband and I celebrated my birthday with a very nice dinner about a month ago. Granted it was a week night, but the noise level was wonderful! We were able to converse at normal voice levels and the background music WAS background music! Hubby had their chicken pot pie which was full of large chunks of meat and discernible pieces of veggies! The crust was flaky and buttery. I had a filet mignon that was medium-rare to perfection but could have been a bit more tender(would have given it 5 stars otherwise); it was still delicious. My potato/leek soufflé was outstanding as was hubby’s spinach salad. We enjoyed a bottle of complimentary birthday wine valued at my age and shared the complimentary birthday dessert. The service was impeccable and we will be going again in the near future. Hurrah for places that still understand the meaning of «pleasing the customer»!!

We attended a wedding reception at Tria’s upstairs room. It was cozy, comfortable and well lit with plenty of windows. The food was good by all accounts and the service was prompt and friendly. My steak was perfectly cooked. I loved their parmesan potatoes– think company hashbrowns that your aunt brings to potlucks only much better. The bartender was super nice and poured a stiff drink. Can’t wait to go and have dinner downstairs. When we passed through we were greeted by the staff and the space looked very inviting.

Mediocre food, over priced for the quality, slow, slow, slow service. If you’re charging downtown prices, step up the quality and speed up the service.

SEAFOODRISOTTOSEAFOODRISOTTOSEAFOOD Having been here many times, as I lived ½ mile away, I can honestly tell you that this is the best«Special Occasion» restaurant I’ve been to in years. Is it economical? NO Is it special? YES Does the staff make you feel like you are the most important person in Minnesota? YES Is it beautiful? YES Is the staff professional? MOST OFTHEM Do you leave happy/satisfied? I DO !!! I usually order something I don’t make at home where ever I go, and seafood/fish is pretty much my go-to items. I can make a steak at home exactly like I want it. Judging from the other reviews, lean towards anything but steak. The SOUPS are phenomenal. The best French Onion soup around except for the Lowell Inn. The wild rice soup is a different take on a Minnesota staple. Outstanding Fare — Scallops & Lobster Linguine Scallops were better than the ones I had at The Luxor in Las Vegas, and there was so much Lobster Linguine that even after all of us had a taste there was still enough to take home. AND it reheated nicely. And the birthday special of wine equal to your age free is wonderful There are some perks to getting older :-) The Sunday Brunch menu with the beignets with their little pillows of sweetness is extraordinary. The bacon is even better than most. And in the light of day the décor is even more delightful. The only con is that the restrooms are down stairs. Navigating those steps in heels + alcohol isn’t fun. Yes there is an elevator, but them I have to endure eye rolls from my family. IFYOULEAVEHERESTILLHUNGRY, YOUDIDN’T FINISHTHEBREAD BASKET !!!
