Sorry to say, Kim’s is no longer in business at this location. I found another great oriental grocer, Née How on Lorain Road.

This is a great place! We were visiting from San Francisco and looking for some kimchi and specialty teas. We ended up walking out with that plus some other cool things.

This is one of my favorite places to not only shop for groceries but also get delicious take out or sit down lunch and dinner! I have been shopping with Kim(Owner) since she had her last location. Her dine in/take out menu has a wide variety of food including my favorite Bibimbap and Kimchi soup, mmmmmm! If you are ever short on time you can always call ahead your order and Kim will have your food ready for you when you get there. The Kimchi that she has is always well balanced which is hard to come by sometimes as I find some kimchi to be a bit heavy handed on the vinigar or fish sauce, not hers! I can always stock up on my cabage or radish kimchi here :) Staples that I also pick up include: tea, bean sprouts, radish, tofu, seasoned cucumbers, spices, many snacks, and porridge packs! Of course another perk of Kims is the conversation and her warmth. Kim always seems to remember what you like, what you talked about last time, and even will give you recipe tips! Larger chain grocery stores like CAM Asian market just can deliver the same type of service that you will find at Kims! After moving out of the area this is one establishment that I definitely still make the drive to on a regular basis.

I did not know that this food store still exists. I thought that it was shut down.

Kim’s Grocery is now located on Lorain in North Olmsted, and the new storefront has a lot more elbow room and possibly more inventory. As the other reviewers said, she is incredibly friendly and helpful. Plus, she keeps her prices competitive and offers takeout(AND catering). Her kimchi is possibly the best I’ve ever had… and I’ve never had a bad recommendation from her. I believe she also has a store now in Oberlin as well on Eric Nord Way. Recently, I made a «going away to college» gift basket and packed it full of different kinds of korean udon and ramen noodles, a tea set, chopsticks and tons of candies and sauces. It was so colorful… affordable and well received.

Kim’s Grocery never disappoints. This place is actually a Korean grocery however she(Kim the owner) carries numerous other Japanese & some Chinese items. I’m partial to the Korean seafood ramen & Korean udon, that she carries. From spices, sauces, dried condiments, frozen fish, frozen desserts, sushi rice, soups, to candies & snacks can be found here. Of course these are specialty brands. You need to know what you are looking for as many items don’t have English descriptions, and if you don’t Kim can be an excellent resource and help. She is one of the most friendly and helpful small specialty food store owner I have met. She prefers to treat you as a friend rather than just another customer. Kim makes home made kimchee that’s must try. Her kimchee is never too salty or too overwhelmed with vinegar. It always has more marinated vegetables than broth. These are all marks of excellent kimchee. Trust me. She also makes fresh vegetable soup daily that includes either tofu or rice. There’s also vegetable fried rice and BBQ beef that she makes daily. These are all take-out items. I can never leave without getting at least one of these items to go. The prices are always reasonable given the specialty nature of the items. Due to current space constraints the store is a little cramped. The far back corner is a little hard to maneuver around. She is supposedly moving to a larger location in Feb ’11. I’m hoping she will be able to set up in a more maneuverable layout.

The Brookpark Extension in North Olmsted has become a multi-ethnic enclave, featuring three specialty groceries. My favorite of these is Kim’s. Kim’s features Korean and Japanese food, but also has other Asian food staples. There is an entire aisle of sauces, another of noodles and pot noodles, another of Pocky. Oh yeah, Pocky. The thing that makes this place fantastic is its proprietress. She is certifiably the nicest person on the planet, offering cups of hot tea on cold days and all the help and advice you could want. And samples!!! On weekends, she cooks Korean noodles, Korean sushi and bulgogi. After I admitted only a very passing knowledge of Korean food, she invited my daughter and I in for a free tasting. We tried heaping plates of her specialites. Wow. Just wow. The store offers several kinds of homemade kimchee(I had no idea there were so many!), homemade frozen bulgogi(Just take it home and stirfry it!) and lots of other wonderful heat and serve conveniences. This is a place for a hard core Korean cook and for the amature enthusiast!
