First Choice Emergency Room

My husband brought me in to this facility while I was in severe pain, knowing it was my gallbladder. I was there for 90 minutes and all I got was the beginning of an IV (just the set up but no fluids) and my stomach felt by the doctor. He was abrupt and treated me in a condescending manner.
I was told it was likely a severe gallbladder attack and then was asked if I wanted x-​rays. I said yes and my husband and I waited and waited but their x-​ray tech never showed up. Granted, there was a huge rainstorm going on outside but from what we could hear from the conversation with the doctor and the staff, they have a contract with an x-​ray company and those people guarantee being there within 30 – 45 minutes. The doctor was pissed and that made his non-​existent bedside manner worse.
In the end, we decided to just go home. The front staff and the nurse were very nice and efficient and gave us some Gatorade for the ride home, which was really appreciated.
A month later, we received the bill. Guess how much it was? A tidy sum of $ 4,000. Wth! I nearly passed out when I saw that. We have a BSBC PPO and are covered for just about anything. There is NO way the minimal care I received there is worth 4k!
I called the billing administration and was told that this facility has had some trouble with their billing tax codes and the like. I very clearly explained that getting that kind of money out of me was NOT going to happen. I was advised to pay my portion of the doctor’s bill (the doctor gives you a separate bill from the facility bill) and I would be contacted with more information and an accurate bill. So far I haven’t been contacted and it’s been 2 months.
The only reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is for the staff who helped me. The doctor I saw left a lot to be desired and really needed to work on his bedside manner skills.

Brought my fiancée in for some pain she was having. Great service, friendly staff, and quick service.

My 2 year old daughter fell down and busted her knee open, I thought she was going to need stitches. I went to care now first but they didn’t except my insurance, and had tons of people waiting. When I walked in the place it was clean, warm, welcoming, and inviting. I was immediately greeted by a lady at the window with a smile. She was very friendly and gave me paperwork to fill out. Before I could even finish filling out the standard paperwork a nurse came to take us to the back. Very fast! The nurse was very sweet and made my two year daughter feel very comfortable. She asked all the appropriate question like did she have all her shot or was she allergic to anything. She cleaned the wound. Then told us the doctor would be right with us. The room was clean and provided a lot of privacy with glass sliding doors. The doctor was in the within minutes of the nurse leaving. He was super nice and took his time talking to us. I did not feel rushed at all. He said she didn’t need stitches but cleaned the wound again and glued it. He put 4 butterflies on top. Then he told us he would have the nurse give her some Motrin. He gave me very clear instructions for taking care of the wound along with paperwork. The nurse came in with medicine and the discharge paperwork and walked us to the check out. The lady at discharge took the paperwork and gave my daughter a sticker. She told us to have a great day and gave us a bag to carry all our stuff in. Super polite. As someone who has passed 15 kidney stones I’ve seen my fair share of emergency rooms, and by far this one as surpassed any er I have every been to. There was no wait time, the staff was polite, efficient, and the place was super clean. A week after the visit we were sent a thank you note from their er with my daughters name personal wrote out. They went a above and beyond!

Won’t return to this location. ever! Came in with throat pain expecting a strep test. Dr. Ogunleye looked at my throat and immediately said I needed penicillin. Said it «could» be strep but no test administered. I asked for a penicillin shot instead of 10 days of pills and he refused with no explanation given. Horrible care. I will never come back to this location. Been happy with the care received at other locations.
I have to add, the young lady at the front desk was great and so was the nurse who attended to me.

I took my son here last night to be seen for a fall at school. His leg was hurting badly so I figured he needed xrays.
Walked in and Blair the receptionist was super nice and helpful. After paperwork was filled out we were called back in just a few minutes.
Arrived in the room. A nurse came in and asked some questions. She was very curt and never smiled, just looked so bothered and it took me aback. She left and the doctor came in. He was efficient and thorough but no bedside manner to speak of. He was just unfriendly and made my son uncomfortable. When I inquired about insurance and if he was in my network after he recommended xrays, he acted irritated and sounded belittling. He suggested I wait until tomorrow if that was important to me and he’d wait for me to decide and said he didn’t want to pressure me, and then he left the room.
As a mom of a transplant kid I’ve encountered countless doctors of many personalities. I can honestly say he was my least favorite I’ve met!
I decided to get the xrays, and that tech was nicer. We were in and out quickly and that was nice, but now I’m terrified to get the bill…
I wouldn’t come back though unless I had no other choice.

I took my 14 year old son to First Choice in NRH after a bad fall during football practice. The staff (front desk, nurses, doctor) was extremely nice and fast. Within minutes of walking in, my son was in a room hooked to an IV and the monitors. Dr. Khan came in right away and said there might be internal bleeding. He ordered a CT scan, which was performed immediately. The CT scan revealed a pulmonary contusion and a lacerated kidney and my son was in fact bleeding internally! An ambulance was called and he was moved to the hospital. The hospital ER waiting room was full of people, but we were put in a room right away. Had I not gone to First Choice first, we would’ve had to wait a long time to be seen at the hospital. I would definitely use them again if needed. Just one caution, make sure your insurance will cover the cost!

Our son came home one weekend from college and began throwing up so we decided to try First Choice Emergency Room

This should be you LAST CHOICE — walk, run, drive do whatever to get away from these crooks.
There is an amazing clinic on the corner of Precinct Line and North Tarrart Parkway on the Precinct Line side of Wal-​Mart if you are in need of another option but not LAST CHOICE
If I could give LAST CHOICE negative stars and the scale was to –10 I would rate them –100

I fell down the stairs in my home just before midnight and got a 5 cm laceration on my hand from a loose nail on the railing. I could tell instantly from the pain and how it looked that it was serious. A quick consultation with Siri for a nearby urgent care clinic open 24 hours brought up First Choice as the number one recommendation and displayed the favorable Unilocal ratings. Within 10 minutes I was there.
Was seen by a nurse and assistant within minutes of arriving and followed shortly by the doctor. Both Nurse Sheryl and Doctor Cohen worked well together and had an excellent bedside manor and seemed highly knowledgeable and competent. The facility is super nice and modern and eat-​off-​the-​floor spotless.
Received a tetanus shot, 10 stitches and verbal and written instructions on exactly what to do.
Very happy with my decision to go to First Choice for emergency care. It’s obvious their name implies what they want their customers to think of when they have a serious medical issue and they put in the effort to earn that.
I will not hesitate to go back to this particular ER should the need arise.

I had to make a visit due to my 8 month old baby breaking out in a rash. The visit was fast. Nobody in the waiting room. I was callwd back bwfore finishing all the paperwork. Everyone there was attentive and very friendly. my family will be making this our er vs. Going to a hospital and waiting. Very impressed.

While in business in Dallas I needed medical care. I used Unilocal to find First Choice. The reviews were all correct. The staff are very friendly and kind. My nurse Mo really took care of me as well as the Doctor. Since I took a yellow cab from hotel to the clinic, the Doc and Nurse urged me to try UBER to save money and convenience. They all shopped around for me to find a pharmacy that was open and close so I could get my prescription filled. Outstanding folks who really care. I wish I could move them to New Jersey! Thank you all! UBER worked fantastic and I’m fit as a fiddle. Highly recommend if you need urgent care.

Went there today for my Gout attack! Very professional, courteous and fast! Walked in and helped right away! Would definitely go back if needed.

If you become suddenly ill, as both my hubby and I did w an increasingly severe sinus infection, (our first emergency doc visit on Sunday w meds that did not improve the symptoms and actually worsened over 3 days) — and need to see a doc right away, this is a terrific facility!
From immediate 7 am check in w Blair at reception to a lovely lobby, and a quick, cheery escort w nurse Julia, as well as efficient and prompt medical attention by Dr Stone, we were in and out in under an hour, and already well on the way to feeling better.
Grateful for such impeccable medical care and meds — will come back here if needed w no hesitation! Great service and great care here

I went to First Choice ER North Richland Hills on January 25^th, the whole staff was very friendly! They were very helpful, they made sure I knew what all my charges were going to be and had it all printed out and easy to understand! They have called me and made sure I was feeling better and I even got a Hope your feeling better card in the mail this past week!!! Excellent service and the wait was non existent!!! If I ever need to be treated again I will be going there for sure!!!

Very easy to find. When I walked in, I felt like I was in a true ER room, only this one was extraordinarily clean and the staff was unbelievably friendly. I was taken in almost immediately — they told me they didn’t like their patients to wait.
The nurses and doctors were professional & thorough. If I get sick again when I’m visiting my parents, I will definitely come back here. (I’ve already recommended it to my entire family who is local)
