Closed! Business went down hill after new owners took over, girl bartenders left and the place stayed empty. Guess it was a great place in its time. Hope the owners don’t destroy the Hwy 26 location too.

So I think these guys may have been having an off day or something. We got here at around 3pm. There was no one else in the whole restaurant. I feel like we should have turned around and walked out. I knew right off the bat there was no this places bbq was going to live up the quality I’m accustomed to. I didn’t expect much and I got less than I expected. I ordered the rib plate because I assumed it would be hard to mess up some ribs. My food tasted like it had been made a couple days before. I’m positive they just reheated these ribs. I had two sides the asian cole slaw and the regular cole slaw. both of which I’m pretty sure were also not fresh and tasted very generic. I expected so little and got less than that. I cant say anything good about this place and if I could give them no stars I would. I hear they often have bands and they had a pool table, I could see it working as bar or venue but stay away from the food.

My family decided to go here because my mom bought a couple of coupons off some discount site. I can see why the coupons were needed to draw people in as we were the only people in the place. It was my mom’s birthday so we let her pick. Originally when she told me where we were going, of course I immediately looked up the place on Unilocal. So I prepared myself for what I read about, however I was also aware that the few people that had posted reviews on this restaurant were not people that really Unilocal a lot, so I was not sure if I should trust them. Anyway — I tried to go into this experience with an open mind, but with low expectations. My first thought was to order safe. We ordered 2 appetizers at our table — brisket queso and the fried pickles. The fried pickles were actually really good and the best part of the entire meal! The brisket queso was alright but the chips tasted like they had been in my pantry for a month or slightly more. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with french fries as my entrée. I was not impressed at all. I actually only ate half because it was so bad. Tasted like there was no seasoning on it or something. I drenched my fries in the left over ranch dressing that came with the fried pickles — so those were ok I guess. Everyone’s food was mediocre at best and underwhelming. Later that evening my mom told me that she wished we had gone somewhere else and I agreed with her. She also told me that she bought two coupons so will maybe go back and give it another shot, but probably not. Oh and I ordered tea — unsweet — terrible … I seemed like it had been sitting in the tea maker for days. I actually did not drink it and drank from my fiancé’s soda instead. There were grammar issues on the menu too — I am thinking overall this place needs to rethink a few things, maybe go on that reality show with Gordon Ramsey — Kitchen Nightmares. I think Gordon could help them out.

The atmosphere & entertainment are amazing! Perfect for the whole family to enjoy! Daily specials for $ 8.99(huge portions)! Ribs that fall off of the bone, served to you by the friendliest wait staff! I’ve found my local BBQ joint, hands down!

Good BBQ here but bummed they wouldn’t let us sub a small side salad with our lunch. They said we would have to order a higher priced regular entrée to get a salad. I’ve never been to a restaurant that didn’t have a small side salad as part of the lunch menu.

I’ve really tried to like this place because it’s home of an old haunt & they did an amazing job on the remodel, it’s beautiful. That said, if it wasn’t for the great bands they have on the weekends,(which I’ve witnessed them shut down at 10:30) this place would have closed the doors long ago. They run it like a hobby or a small roll up the streets at 9:00 town café & the food is mediocre at best. I’ve gone over at 8:00 on a week night, more than once & they’d be locked up tight. This after posting they had food & drink specials that day on FB. The staff has always been nice, but apparently have no trained management. Last 3 times I’ve been in there, I’ve had to seat myself, though there’s a huge sign at the door that says«please wait to be seated» at the hostess stand with no hostess. As well as go to the bar to ask for wait staff to take a food order. As long as they keep hiring good bands, I’ll continue to go, but doubt I’ll ever go back for the food. It’s like some rich guy bought his spoiled brat kid something to do, to keep them out of his hair. What’s sad, is it could be great if someone cared enough to try. Again sad, there are so many little places that are struggling to stay open that have awesome food & bend over backwards to serve you, but maybe lack funding to get to the next level & here these guys set on a potential gold mine, twiddling their thumbs. I could go on about how inept the management is, but it’s beating a dead horse. BTW, the two stars is for their bands.

I wanted to be able to say nice things since it was my first time here, but I want given that opportunity. I guess no one wanted bbq tonight, because we were the only people here at 645pm. That being said they decided to close the doors and leave instead of serve us. Rude…

I’ve been searching for a decent pulled pork sammich, I have to look no further. Best in a long time. The live band Rastus was awesome, a cover band but those are good too. Hard to put in an order when the music starts and our server Brittany was friendly.

I enjoy going here sometimes. It’s a nice environment and a good place to see live music. The hamburger needs work. It tastes like a frozen pre cooked burger. The picture on the menu shows it to have cheese and they don’t ask if you want cheese on it. Past two times I’ve hade to go get grated cheese from the salad bar. My friend was served ice tea that looked like sludge. A lot of items were whited out and deleted from the menu. I liked the catfish last time but it was gone. Loved my waitress. Hopefully they can get it together more.

My family and I went here for our Mother’s Day lunch. The food wasn’t bad but the service was awful. I watched the waiter rest the tea or water pitcher ON the rims of the glasses while pouring. YUCK! This is an excellent way to spread illness. AND he placed his hands on the rim of the glasses as he placed them on the table. I put my mouth on that rim! I have NOIDEA where those hands have been! It took a long time to get our food even though the restaurant was only at about 25% capacity. Im pretty certain I won’t return to Red Barn BBQ.

The restaurant itself is nice and clean, and the food is pretty decent. Some servers I’ve had are better than others, but nothing bad enough to ruin the meal. I will say that I usually cant stand local bands in bars or restaurants, but I’ve been here 3 times now when they’ve had a band, and each time they were outstanding!(And I don’t generally like country music either). Overall, I can’t say that the food is the best BBQ around, but the whole experience is good enough to make it my go-to BBQ place if I’m not in the mood to drive 45 minutes.(Especially since Big Barn on Davis Blvd closed down)

First time and last time here. Drive an hour for music. Acoustics are horrible and if you want a decent seat it was $ 90 for the table. Don’t waste your time. Service was good though.

We haven’t been disappointed yet. We usually share the brisket along with the broc slaw and pinto beans. The choice of sauces are right on. The service is friendly and willing. Spending a hot afternoon there sure is a great way to avoid the heat. We go often and bring family and friends.

Nice building, they have worked wonders with the interior of this once crime riddled bar, however, it is very loud. Whether music is played over speakers or live band, you can’t hear yourself think. Not a place to go for conversation. We sat in a booth away from the actual band, and it was still loud. Additionally, when you sit in a booth get ready for a lot of movement especially when the person behind you can’t sit still. Service was friendly, and efficient. Highlight of the visit. Food, the most important part of the visit is sadly mediocre. My father ordered brisket and it seemed to be 50% fat. I ordered the ribs, and I really think they were boiled first and then maybe thrown in a cooker. Definitely not fall of the bone barbeque ribs. I know this proprietor has been in the area awhile and it looks like he would know how to make good Texas B-B-Q! This isn’t it! Note for owner: When visiting tables you might want to visit all the tables and not discriminate. Maybe you could see in my face you would not get the response you want, but you can’t get better if you don’t hear a few criticisms. My advise is try go to some of the other Mom-N-Pops around the area, Risky’s around the corner, or I hate to say it, but even Red Hot and Blue knows how to make ribs better than this place. Sorry Red Barn, I was really hoping for better. I even waited for you guys to get the bugs out, before trying.

I took parents on fathers day for first visit. They had a special buffet which I chose the meat and vegetable selection was items not on regular menu. I had the tenderloin which was very good. I also had the grilled corn, aspargus, homemade mac and cheese. I really liked the grilled corn, I passed on the garlic mashed potato’s but my husband said they were great. My mother and father had the catfish and said it was the best they have had. My father had teh banana pudding and scaped teh side of the mason jar to get it all. My husband had the chocolate cake and I had the Key Lime Pie both special desserts for the buffet. They also had an acoustic guitarist for the day which made it special. We will go back on a Friday or Saturday night they have live entertainment.

Ok, so for the umpteenth time someone has redone this spot on Bedford road in NRH. It looks great and has never looked better. The inside is classy BBQ and sports bar, not a rundown hole in the road covered with rusting tin. The patio is large and nice as well and there are plenty of TV everywhere with the sound off. There is a stage and live music prevails though not when we were there. The waiter recommended the ribs, which the wife chose and I had the pulled pork sandwich plate. The ribs were fall of the bone tender but, with no smoke ring and only a slight hint of smoke flavor almost flavorless. The same for my pulled pork sandwich served dry on a bun, and it was dry, luckily the sauce I poured on it made it slide down and again little if no smoked flavor. This leads me to wonder is the pork really smoked or boiled and then flash grilled; some place do that you know. We ordered 1 banana pudding it came in a short mason jar with 1 wafer sticking from the top. The wafer was soggy and the bananas were blackened. It also tasted like maybe the other items in the reefer werent covered. We sent that back and our bill was credited. We were sorely dis-apointed. This place has great potential, the menu has a few really high items, prime rib, ribeye, which I did not try and wonder if they would be as poorly executed as our meal. What this place really needs is a chef. We will try again and maybe go later for music as well.

Two stars is about right. I’d like for it to be more since I have enjoyed the Colleyville location for a few years. The restaurant itself is nice enough. And it is nice to go to a BBQ place where one is served(vs. a cafeteria) and also that has a bar. The promise of live music is appealing although the group we heard one night we were there was not to our liking. We have been there twice. Service is friendly but not knowledgeable. They want to be successful, but it will be a steep climb. Food, the food. Oh dear. Ribs that were sparse and not as flavorful as many other restaurants. Fried catfish filets were tiny and overcooked. Brisket was noticeably fatty. Sides are just OK, though I do like their broccoli slaw. There were some other problems. A side baked potato(an extra 99 cents) was served ‘loaded’, not with condiments on the side as requested. There was a billing error on the final check. The Staff was gracious about fixing the errors, but still they should not happen. I want to like this restaurant but for now I have no reason to go back.
