The old location on State Rd was awesome and parking never an issue there. The Mayor decided that he would do a little land swap with the County and remodel the former library for his new City Hall Offices. The original plan was to remodel this library in its former location — but me-thinks there were alterior motives at play. The new library was Cheaply Built and aesthetically ugly. No appropriate parking, no way to walk across the bumpers and weed areas in the lot. Congested at both entrances, the Albatross Y is located here as well(another grand idea the mayor had, to buy a defunct party center and have the city run it with a lease – the Y) — residents get some tiny 10% discount(whoopee). The staff at the County library must hate it as well. I thought cronyism was dead, guessed wrong. This is an ugly, cheap, glass box and I hope to move the heck out of NR soon — -they have destroyed a once quaint town and put the residents wishes last.

I’ve been going to North Royalton public library since I was a little kid. CONS: The new library is spacious but the crowd there is unbearable. There are always kids screaming and running around! Most of the times the librarians won’t say anything to them and their parents will just sit around. I understand the library is a public place, but screaming and running is totally out of line. Strongsville library is much more quiet and the children and parents there understand the serenity and solitude that others come to the library for. PROS: The library is very spacious. I love the sound proof rooms that they have(wish they had more than 3). The staff there is nice and is pretty much the same stuff from the old library.
