Budget Blinds serving Seattle NW

Great service from start to finish. I’ve lived in my current apt almost a year now and the cheap lev-​a-​lor (sp) blinds the apt came with aren’t enough to mask the blinding (all be it rare…) Seattle sunshine in the AM, and I am extremely sensitive to light, so I finally decided to use their monthly Val-​U-​Pak (these things DO come in handy!) coupon and get black out blinds. It took about three weeks from start to finish to get custom ordered blinds. All customer service reps involved were very friendly and professional. I love the blinds and only regret not doing it sooner.

We purchased blinds for our office and are extremely happy with the final result. Brenda was extremely friendly and helpful. The blinds were installed by the date promised. I would highly recommend budget blinds if you are in the market.

We had a fantastic experience with Budget Blinds. At first we had an estimate with a different company that has a higher rating and more reviews on Unilocal than Budget Blinds. We knew that our job was going to cost us, but we were shocked at the price quote from the other company. For a second opinion we had Brenda from Budget Blinds come out to measure and give us an estimate and it came in significantly lower than the other for the same, exact thing, i.e. Hunter Douglas shades, same color, same design, same features, etc. Wow, we are talking hundreds of dollars less! Tony came out and did a great job installing. We highly recommend Budget Blinds and also suggest if you have gotten a quote somewhere else, check and see if you can get the same window covering with them at a more favorable price point.

Couldn’t be happier! Coral came over to give me an estimate on my actual moving day. My friends thought I was crazy, but it worked out perfectly. Coral was friendly, helpful, and quick – she took measurements and showed me the samples while the movers just kept working. The shades were installed less than two weeks later, and they look beautiful.

The blinds in my place never matched from the day I moved in and one day I yanked on one of the cords too hard and, oops, time for new blinds. I contacted Budget Blinds on the recommendation of my contractor and they set up an appointment to come out for a free installation right away. Coral gave me several options and styles to look over and priced them all out for me. We settled on some fabulous faux wood blinds. 2 weeks later we set up a time for installation. The installer (Samuel) came out and was super nice and friendly and fast. It took a bit longer to install than I thought but that’s more due to the fact that we were chatting and I’m still floored that he came out at 7 at night. They look amazing! Have already had compliments on them. These folks are awesome!!!

I love my new blinds and bedroom drapes. Brenda was really great.

I have nothing but fantastic things to say about Budget Blinds NW. Everyone I have worked with: Coral, Arnie and Mary, have been very helpful, professional, and take pride in what they do. It was very easy to schedule an estimate and get the blinds ordered and installed. I had no idea about blinds, and Coral helped me choose blinds that are perfect for our needs. They’ve been just what I was wanting. I was so excited to call them back when I needed more blinds this year!

We had a coupon for Budget Blinds so decided to order through them for our new house. I went into the store, spoke with a representative, and picked out some blinds (I wanted cellular blinds, double celled, and top-​down, bottom-​up). The person who helped me seemed nice and friendly, but did try to talk me out of getting double celled blinds. I was sure I wanted double celled though. I decided to wanted to shop around elsewhere so asked if I could just call back the next day if I wanted the blinds ordered. He said that would be fine and took down all of the information for my blinds. The next day I called back to order them.
After the blinds came and were installed I realized that they were neither double celled nor top-​down, bottom-​up. I called the person I had ordered through to explain that they were not what I ordered. He insisted that I was wrong, that I had in fact said I wanted single-​celled and only bottom-​up blinds. I asked to return the blinds and get a refund and he told me there were no refunds. I explained that I was very disappointed and upset and that I would have to call him back. Later that day he called me back and told me he would be willing to give me a refund, but was sure to tell me one more time that I had said I wanted single-​celled, bottom-​up blinds.
Even though I did get a refund, it was a frustrating experience and I did not appreciate being told that I had ordered the wrong thing.

This is the second time I have used this Budget Blinds. The sales rep, Brenda, was helpful, and not pushy or any attempts to try to get me to buy more expensive blinds. She had great suggestions about getting darkening blinds for bedrooms, and not using the fabric cellular blinds above the kitchen sink.
The first time the sales rep was Coral, and she was equally helpful and professional. The installer shows up on time, the blinds are installed, and look great both times. The first set, from 2009, still look great and we have had no problems (and this is in a rental property).
I highly recommend this team!

We recently bought a new house that needed window coverings for all 8 rooms. We solicited our first quote from another local vendor, who had been recommended by our real estate agent. Mostly out of curiosity about cost and style options, we decided to get a second quote from Budget Blinds (after seeing their coupon in the ValPak and reading good Unilocal reviews.) Imagine our surprise when we not only liked the sales rep (Brenda) much better — (she was super friendly, lent great styling insights to our product choices, and even brought a dog treat for our pup!) — but her quote was ¹⁄₃ less than the previous vendor… for the same blinds! True to her estimated timeline, we got the blinds installed yesterday. The installer (Tony) was equally awesome… punctual, fast-​working, and very nice. And the blinds are gorgeous! In all, we came away with zero complaints. :)

I completely forgot about this place! When we moved into our home, we wanted stylish black-​out blinds for the house. And it just happened that there was a coupon for a free estimate so we scheduled an appointment. Brenda came to our place, measured all of our windows and gave us many options to select from. We opted on some cordless honeycomb shades that blacked out 90% light.
We ordered them and when they arrived, Sean installed them so fast that it was hard to imagine our windows before they were present. They recessed so nicely into the windowsills and are still effortless to raise and lower.
A year or so after we moved in, one of our friends house-​sat while we were out of town. Her daughter had a mishap with one of the blinds so she called Budget Blinds preparing to have to pay for an entire new set. Sean came out to the house, took a look at the problem and fixed it with no charge.
I recommend them highly for their customer service, pricing and speed of installation.

Coral, the saleswoman who came out to help me choose colors and styles for my blinds, was wonderful. She was friendly, helpful, and professional. She clearly explained the whole process of choosing the blinds, placing the order, and getting the blinds installed. I normally have a good eye for color, but for one of the windows I was having trouble choosing between two colors. I couldn’t visualize very well how a golden-​tan that was a bit darker than the window-​frame would look when it would be covering the whole window. I was concerned about it looking mismatched since the exact color of the frame was not available. She helped me pick the best color; it looks fantastic now that it is installed.
The installer is the only reason why I am not giving this business 5 stars. He was okay, not very friendly, but that was not a big deal for what his job entails. He was efficient and accurate in the installation of the blinds, which was the most important thing. However, I had paid the extra $ 7 per window fee for my old blinds to be taken off of the windows and disposed of, and he took them off (of course) in order to install the new ones, but he left them in the bedrooms. He didn’t just leave them in the bedrooms, he placed them so that it was almost as if he was HIDING them; each set of blinds was placed BEHIND the beds on the far side, shoved into the back wall so that nothing peeked out on the floor at the end of the beds. This meant that if I just looked into the bedrooms from the bedroom doors, I couldn’t view the old blinds at all!
Because of this placement of the old blinds, I didn’t realize that he had left them in the rooms until five minutes after he had left my home. This was annoying. My cat even tried to eat one of the loose screws left haphazardly on the floor (yikes!). I called him on his cell phone explaining the problem, but he did not pick up his phone, and he never got back to me.
However, I called the Budget Blinds phone number, and Arnie called me back within an hour and he said that he would just come over to my place and pick up the old blinds and dispose of them himself, which he did. He was just as friendly as Coral, and I felt that he had rectified the relatively minor annoyance perfectly, which I appreciated.
Overall, I had a good experience with this business and I would use their services again in the future. I would also recommend them to others. My new blinds look BEAUTIFUL!!!

I purchased four blinds from them last Dec ’09. Brenda was great in helping me pick out something that would work. I appreciate that since it is not something I want to be spending a lot of time on. Three of the four were the top down, bottom up; one was also room darkening. Two of the four were for very large windows. They were priced better than I had seen anywhere else. They were installed January 5^th & that took 30 minutes. The installer was average in cleanliness & friendliness.
Jan. 6^th: I notice the top bar on 3 of the «top down» shades was scratched. It wasn’t horrible but when you spend ~$ 1200 you want it to look new and not like a 3 year old took a key to them. I emailed Arnie on the 6^th (the owner and Brenda’s husband), making it clear I didn’t want the blinds to go in the landfill. I asked if perhaps touch up paint was available. On the 7^th or 8^th Arnie calls back & told me he is not sure about paint, will have to call the company. If they can’t provide the paint he will replace the blinds& confirmed they would go in the landfill if this was the case.
Jan 9^th I realize the largest blind is not installed correctly. The top of the blind was not snapped into the assembly in the middle of a very wide window so when the blind was closed you could see a beam of light in the middle, at the top. It looked very sloppy. I emailed Arnie to let him know.
Jan 12^th I had not heard back about either issue so I called and left a message with the answering service. Arnie called back the same day & left a message referring to «the blind», that he had not heard from the company yet so did not have an answer yet. This had me concerned since I had more than one problem that involved 3 of the 4 blinds I purchased & was not sure he was on top of all the issues at this point. I called back that same day but, got the answering service instead. Told them I was concerned about the way Arnie worded his message.
On the 15^th Arnie called me back, left a message clarified that he was aware of all the issues I was having.
One the 16^th Arnie called to tell me there is no paint available for touch up. He reminded me that the blinds will go in the landfill if they need to be replaced & offered me $ 25 so I can go out to dinner. I was bit offended by this and felt like I was being manipulated. If I go out for dinner it is usually more than $ 25. For the cost of the blinds and all the trouble I didn’t think that was appropriate. I hesitated feeling this was unfair and I don’t say yes when pressured. He suddenly had to hang up and said he would call back. On the 19^th still no call from Arnie. I was extremely irritated at this point and was afraid I could not have a conversation with him and keep my cool. Plus it was evident that my schedule and Arnies were not compatible.
My boyfriend is extremely level headed & good natured and his lifelong career is in negotiating with people. Aware of the dilemma, he offered to call Arnie for me. I don’t know exactly what was said during the call but the report back was not positive. He said Arnie acted extremely offended that he had called him, said something like «we don’t need to bring a third party into this» & that he would talk directly to me to resolve the problem, he then hung up on him. If you ask me it sounds like Arnie may not be comfortable negotiating with other males.
The same day Arnie tries to call me on my cell at work 2 times until I finally get off and can call him back. He is very short, says something like «we at Budget Blinds do not give people their money back but rather give them what they ordered» and that he would order the new blinds tomorrow. He again reminded me that the blinds will go in the landfill (putting it all on me and not taking any responsibility). A few weeks later he called to schedule the install of the 3 new blinds, that was the last we talked.
When the guy comes to install the new blinds he doesn’t know why the binds are being replaced nor was he informed of the installation issue with the big blind in front. I don’t stand over him and he is super quick again. When he leaves the blind that had the installation problem is now fixed. All of the blinds have the same problem (scratched). Again, not horrible but noticeable and really very annoying after all of this. I can tell at least 2 of the 3 were actually replaced because the scratches are in different places. On the 3^rd one I really can’t tell, it looks like it may not have been replaced.
At this point I needed to move on. I did not report the new blinds being scratched and decided to leave it as it was. I waited to write the review until I cooled off and had the time. I did keep my notes taken during that time.

We can’t say enough good things about the excellent service and quality installation that we got from Budget Blinds. Parrish, who owns the business with his wife, came over to our house to give an estimate. He not only double– measured the windows, he also took all the time we needed to show us various options, and offered terrific ideas and suggestions. The price was reasonable, and we never felt like we were dealing with a salesperson. It was like having a friendly, knowledgeable neighbor come over to help out with a project. Parrish’s installer (who came two weeks later with the blinds we’d picked, prepared to measure) was just as helpful and friendly. These are sincerely nice folks who know their business inside out!

We commissioned Budget Binds to put up blinds in one of our new offices.
It was a pretty efficient process. They came out right away and did an onsite evaulation and estimate. Then they installed them 2 weeks later.
I wasn’t expecting to have to pay during the estimate — but it worked out ok.
All in all, everything went well and we received quality blinds at a good price.

While their prices may be lower than others (and not sure if they really are!) their customer service is the worse I have encountered. Instead of working with me to find a solution to a product ordered incorrectly, they were defensive, accusatory and just downright rude. Better off using a company that is professional rather than this mockery of a business.
