Very clean and charming restaurant with very nice people. We saw it on Unilocal and decided to give it a try. We are staying at the Hickory Hollow campground near by. My wife had the home made cranberry walnut French toast and bacon. It was excellent. I had biscuits and gravy, Homemade sausage and eggs and would highly recommend it. The desserts looked excellent but somehow we managed to resist them. We will definitely eat here again when in the area.

Food is average like home made. I had the cranberry French toast and it was ok. I would have preferred a to go cup for my tea. I’m too picky to pick a cup that someone else might have touched. The atmosphere is unique and the dining area is in front of a house which was small, but nice.

Great ! Food and coffee was good, and very kind service. They were out of a lot of stuff when we went, but we liked what we had and it was a nice place to sit and eat. Both food and coffee was very original and not cookie cutter. It’s worth stopping at for lunch or breakfast

The people were very friendly and the breakfast was very good. It came quickly. The outside seating made eating there extra special. Be sure to try the French toast. Their sausage is home made.

Best place in North Utica. I can’t speak for the cafes in South Utica — cause we know South Utica is known for its cafes — but this is the prime spot in NU. Stopped in for an authentic Mediterranean wrap. Did not disappoint. If you’re in North Utica on vacation or business, make it a point to stop in here.

Loved this place. I ordered a Carmel latte and it was delicious. Also, ordered their French toast and found out they actually bake their breads for it. Cute style inside since it feels like a cozy home with a small porch outside. I wish I had this place next to my home since everything inside looked so good! For sure if your passing by this town like me, go in and get a treat well worth it!

Nonie’s is one of those charming little local spots you hope to come across when you’re passing through a town. It’s just a few miles away from Starved Rock, and it’s worth the short drive. We stopped by for breakfast and decided to each get a veggie egg scramble which came with toast. Nonie’s makes several homemade breads, so we opted for cranberry walnut toast. Delicious, and such a nice touch for such a little shop! We also each ordered a side of crispy herbed potatoes. They were crispy and delicious. The coffee was good and they have a nice selection of pastries, as well. Everything on Nonie’s menu is very inexpensive and high quality. The woman at the counter was very sweet and the food came out in no time. Definitely make a stop here during your trip to Starved Rock!

Found through Unilocal app while traveling on HY39 South. Pleasant out of the way but easy to find. Lots of wonderful pastries. We’ll run with a great staff. Oh by the way the food is wonderful.

Loved this place! Located a few minute drive from Starved Rock State Park. Had a Mediterranean chicken pita pocket($ 6.50) and a delicious homemade sticky bun for dessert($ 2, a steal!). Located in a cute little house, can’t beat it!

My friends and I stopped here on the way to Starved Rock. I am so glad we did! The atmosphere is so quaint and comforting. The menu is pretty extensive, you can choose from a fantastic breakfast selecrion, tons of sandwiches, salads, etc. they also have great cappuccino! The pastries/baked goods are to die for. Huge portions and pretty cheap too. Definitely try their carrot cake or sticky buns! The service is pretty quick, given the fact that there were only 2 or 3 people working at the time. I was surprised with the steady flow of people coming in. I’m sure everyone was head to or coming from the park. I will definitely come back the next time i am near Starved Rock!

This place was the bomb! Great coffee/lattes. Great bakery items. Try the cranberry bars. The orange rolls were great and so was the breakfast sandwich. The service was top notch too!

After ending a hike at Starved Rock, we were all… well, starved. Thankfully, someone in our group had been here before and recommended. Very cute little bakery for breakfast and lunch. $ 5 – 8 for meals. Lots of desserts in their case that looked delicious, but those would have to wait for another time. We were a party of nine and everyone in our group loved their orders. Big sandwiches, fresh ingredients, and lots of hospitality. Wouldn’t hesitate to return. Just a note: It seriously *bugs* when reviewers leave low-star ratings for places because they didn’t have gluten free options. It’s a bakery, people and nowhere do they claim to be GF. What exactly did you expect?

This places was so cute and everything aside from my biscuits and gravy were so good that I’ll give this place 4 stars So my husband and I went to Matthiessen State Park over Labor Day weekend. I wanted to stop somewhere for breakfast Monday before we left and saw the reviews for Nonie’s. I think they were busier than expected because it was a very slow process but everyone was nice and we were in no rush. I orders coffee and biscuits and gravy. My husband got the turkey bacon ranch panini. The coffee was good and such cute mugs(I’m a sucker for cuteness as you can see). We sat out on the porch which was really nice. Our food comes out. I bite into my biscuits and gravy and it looks and smells delicious… only problem is that it is not delicious and savory but sweet. Pump the brakes, what is happening? I think maybe someone used sugar instead of salt today. Unless they like their gravy sweet, but I doubt that. It was so sad because I could tell how could it should have been. My hubby didn’t mind it as much as me so we changed plates half way through. His panini was really good with real turkey rather than lunch meat. We brought desserts home to our parents and everyone enjoyed those. I will come back but am afraid of the biscuits and gravy. Tear

Tasty sandwiches. Large selection of desserts. Reasonable prices. Plus, you’re supporting a local, family-run business. We ate here after hiking Starved Rock. Then we stayed, read books, and had coffee. They also have a small selection of board games to play.

Yes, they are OPEN Mondays. Unilocal of wrong. Great cakes and pies. They were very nice and made a pie on short notice for my dad’s birthday. They saved the day! I will definitely go back. This place has free WiFi so it is a nice alternative to Starbucks for a place to chill.

Who would of thought? When u first pull up it has you wondering a bit, ordering first feels a bit like fast food but the donuts Danishes and rolls were out of sight. I live in a 100 ur old home myself and felt comfortable and right at home. We had 2 kinds of French toast that were great and the bacon, eggs and pancake plate I had was on the mark. Friendly service though a touch different. I imagine it can be a bit slow when it gets a rush so be patient. Pleasantly surprised so don’t waste a moment or a dollar at the Great Bear Lodge on breakfast or any meal, when this place is 4 min away.

It’s a cute little stop to grab a bite after a few hours at Matthiessen State Park. There’s plenty of sweets as well as savory items from which to choose. My chefs salad was good, although it was a bit pricey. Bathroom was clean. WiFi was iffy. Service was good.

Great place to stop for a bite after a long hike & working up an appetite. Quick service & a nice variety of options available. Fresh brewed ice tea, lemonade & canned soda available. A good variety of baked goods such as cookies, pie, cinnamon buns, bread pudding & cake are available. Out door seating is an option which is nice bc our dog hikes with us. Our only complaint was the plain white bread our sandwiches came on. From other pictures it appears that the bread type changes. My guess is that it’s based on availability bc we weren’t given any other options. We will stop here & support this local business next time we visit starved rock.
