Had the salt and pepper catfish last night and it was delicious. I have ate there many times and I must say this was the best, but definitely not saying the other times were bad.

Nice little mom and pops place to stop in and eat lunch or dinner. Private parking lot with plenty of room, inside has a strange layout but seemed to have plenty of room. Slightly worn looking in areas, but nothing major. It was clean and well kept on my visit. Everyone here was friendly and someone greeted me as soon as I walked in. That is always a nice touch. Service was excellent, fast and friendly. My tea glass never got half empty and the waitress checked on us just enough to get us what we needed, but not so much as to be a nuisance. Bravo to the wait staff! There are specials each day along with a full menu to order from. Their specialties are BBQ and seafood. Yep, seafood, way up here in the middle of nowhere! A business contact recommended that I come here, and I’m glad I did. I had the white fish and popcorn shrimp. It was all cooked to order, and came out fresh and hot. There was not one sign of grease anywhere. It was cooked perfectly. The taste was great. Portion size was plenty for lunch. The hush puppies were awesome. I didnt try the BBQ, maybe next time. The seafood, I would highly recommend. Price was great considering quality. All in all a great place to eat.

Had the chicken tender plate there. Hands down, best chicken tenders I’ve ever eaten! Came with a a fully loaded baked potato including onions, bacon, cheese and another side of choice. Ordered the large portion and still left tenders behind! Also had the corn nuggets which were amazing. The waitress was extremely nice and went the extra mile to find me a bag of tea. Everything was great here. Will definitely come back.

Pa-Paw’s is a small, slightly worn looking place, a ½ mile or so off D Street. The inside is no less worn, a little dark, but clean and warm feeling, with friendly, efficient service. The walls are loaded with NASCAR posters & pictures, old ads, etc. The Chopped Barbecue Sandwich was large, loaded with tender, moist, smokey barbecued pork. The pork is very lightly sauced out of the kitchen, and is really a hybrid style, neither Eastern or Lexington. This is much better BBQ than I expected, and I would definitely order it again, perhaps add a touch more sauce, ot hot sauce. The Chili Dog was just ok — the chili is a little on the sweet side, and is rather watery This is not a dog I’d try again. All in all, a nice experience.

Good western North Carolina Bar B Q. The red slaw was pretty good also. The hushpuppies were excellent.
