I’ve been buying eyeglasses at BJ’s optical for many years, mostly in Framingham but recently in Northborough. The only problem I’ve experienced has been that occasionally the lens coating will bubble a bit after a few years but considering the cost is approximately half of what I would have to spend elsewhere I can live with that. Recently I went back to Northborough to complain about eyeglasses I purchased in January. The problem was that the surface of the lenses seemed to be «soft» as it was easily scratched. I expected to be told that I was causing the problem by cleaning them incorrectly but instead the technician just ordered a new set of lenses at no cost to me. I didn’t have to surrender my eyeglasses as the new lenses will be installed in the store when they arrive. Great customer service, I am a happy customer.

I needed new glasses pretty desperately. My previous 2 pairs I bought from an online retailer for $ 20, without an accurate prescription. So I decided enough being cheap and I would«splurge.» I was back and forth between the selection at BJ’s, a local Optometrist, and reverting back to online. Surprisingly, the Optometrist didn’t have many more options than BJ’s. Plus, it was waayyyy more expensive. Every single month, BJ’s runs promotions for their glasses which is usually up to half off. I went back and forth a few times and on my third visit, decided I was ready to buy glasses. The people that work here are SO friendly. They offer completely honest opinions(I know because they weren’t pressuring me to go with more expensive options) and they completely leave you alone while you’re browsing unless you want their help(and they don’t stare at you while you do so). I picked a frame, scheduled an eye exam, and promptly had my exam inside the office(it’s not in the middle of the crowd at BJ’s so don’t worry) with a very sweet doctor. Sat down one more time to discuss lens options and that was it! I paid, and in less than a week my glasses were ready to be picked up. For a «frame» of reference, I had a promotion that was $ 70 for frames + lenses up to $ 120. My frames were a bit more expensive, so I covered the difference, and I upgraded to anti-reflective lenses. All in all, the glasses cost me $ 170. If I went to the optometrist nearby, that wouldn’t have even covered the lenses. Be a smart shopper and check out their website for whatever promotion it is, but definitely check it out here.
