Has gone down hill of late. Twice in a row they packed my order wrong, did my sandwich wrong and forgot to pack items on the side. And on top of it when I told them about it, they were rude. I won’t go back for a long time. Too many options like U Dawg U, Superdawg and coming soon Portillo’s. I’m out.

The food here is way too expensive! I bought 3 burgers with fries(no drinks) and spent about $ 30! I can get more for that money at McDonalds. The food itself is ok but the price is too high.

I recently started working a few blocks down the street from Josh’s. My coworkers were nice to ask me if I wanted to get something at Josh’s which I obliged. I put in an order for cheese fries for myself, while my coworkers placed their orders. We put in a delivery to be sent to our workplace. A short while later, I received my fries but was missing the cheese. My other co-worker was missing her fries. We called the restaurant, and all we got were, «the delivery guy is not available to send you the cheese for your fries, and my coworker’s missing order.» What I find especially disappointing, if not, infuriating, was the idea that when a restaurant is not taking accountable for missing customer orders, we are being asked to take additional time to pick it up during our lunch time(which I remind you, is a limited window of time), when they could have delivered it to us as a convenience for forgetting our orders. Let me remind you that I also paid tip for the fries as well. I would have been more appreciative it the establishment could actually send a person over to fix the situation, hence why we delivered in the first place. I was a first time customer, and I sure as hell, will make this my last time. No apologies, no opportunities to rectify the situation which leaves me with a very sour taste of your establishment. I do feel that as our company are valued customers, we at least should have a wee bit more respect as courtesy.

I didn’t think I was going to eat while I was here. Met friends with our kids for dinner. Pleasantly surprised with the freshest salad bar in town! Gyro meat and grilled chicken on top then chopped. The meat was very very tasty. Very healthy meal!!! This is my new go to spot in HP!

Fast service, huge portions, delicious food. The gyro lunch was great, although their sauce is not what I expected. The fries come unsalted but always fresh so remember to ask for a salt packet if you like yours salty.

Good gyros and all that you’d expect from an established local joint serving Chicago style fast food… its good and the staff is very nice– always helpful!

A bit on the pricey side, but the hot dogs and cheeseburgers are worth it! Merkt’s cheddar burgers are my favorite, and since Josh’s is closer to home than Paradise Pup, I find myself here more often when the craving kicks in. The toppings are always fresh. Fries are above average. Mozzarella sticks are pretty good. Service is prompt and friendly. I usually call ahead to place my order and by the time I arrive, the food is ready. Bonus points for carrying Dr. Brown’s Sodas… love the black cherry and cream soda! I’ve been coming here for years… since it was Ira’s, then Wolfy’s, and now, Josh’s. Parking can be a bit of a hassle during the busy lunch rush, so try to sneak in before or after the crowds.

Been here several times for hot dogs and fries so this review is based on this only. The dogs are about as good and authentic as you can get for a classic Chicago-style dog. The fries are where this place comes up short. They are just some frozen Sysco institution fries. I really wish Josh would cut and fry his own fresh potatoes.

Hands down best food of all time. Folks I’m talking more than just amazing burgers, beefs, dogs, chili… I’m talking ribs, steak the whole thing. Josh is super friendly and the atmosphere is great. I’ll put this place against anything in the US.

This place is worse then Burger King. The gyros I had from this establishment made me have food poisoning and I was puking constantly for hours. This place has no quality control and furthermore I will never set foot in this establishment ever again. If your looking for good fast food, then head to TeddyFab’z in Deerfield. I never thought I would say this, but this place makes me miss Ira’s.

GOTOJOSH’S! I had the Friday special HUGOGYRO. A plentiful portion of gyro meet piled high with with a spicy sauce, lettuce, on pita bread and a creamy tzatziki sauce on the side. The whole ensemble came tightly wrapped and piping hot. The gyro was delicious and the sauce was not very spicy but great flavor. It was so big, I had to eat it with my fork just so I could roll and finish it. Also had a side of CHEESEFRIES. It was a medium portion of crispy goodness. Not too greasy. The cheddar cheese was tasty and served hot. Josh’s is a good value for the money. Most other places(nearby) try but don’t do it as well as Josh’s. It’s a small well lit dining area makes use of every inch and seats about 40. It was clean and well maintained. Plenty of tight parking out front of this shopping center. Service was efficient and there was plenty of friendly staff. The cooks are hard working and bustling in the kitchen area. As I was walking out, Josh(the owner) asked me how was my food? I said good. Josh asked me what I had and he proceeded to talk with me for a few minutes. I never met Josh and he didn’t know I was a Unilocaler. It was a busy room so he picked the right guy to butter up! Josh was actually a really nice and genuine guy with sincere concern for his customers and business. You can always tell when the owner works in their own business! I will definitely come back here again to try more. I don’t know how everything else on their extensive menu tastes but this how you run a local family food joint!

Thought I’d give this place a try tonight; I’m always up for a good burger, hot dog or Polish. I ordered the Special, which tonight was a burger with jalapenos and onions, plus an order of fries The burger had little flavor aside from mild jalapeño; the burgers at Dear Franks are better; the fries were also nothing special. The order came to $ 8.50; I gave the guy at the register a $ 20; he gave me back a one and 50 cents and then… nothing. I reminded him I gave him a $ 20 and he got me the other $ 10 and acted like it was no bid deal, but I didn’t like the long hesitation move.

Yum!!! The burgers were better than the hots, which was kind sad. I really wanted a delicious hot dog. Overall, I was very impressed!

This place is FANTASTIC! My brother and I landed at O’Hare at 1:30 am early on a Thursday morning and less than 12 hours later we were at Josh’s for our first Chicago hotdog and our first Italian beef sandwich(yes, we had one of each!) My parents live close to this place and order from there regularly, so it’s our go to place when we visit, and it never disappoints. We started with the beef combo, wet with jardinière. After the first bite both our eyes rolled back and we sighed with satisfaction. It was the perfect bite! We devoured them like sharks in a feeding frenzy. Next we ordered the Chicago dogs with everything, it was a taste that brought back so many great memories of growing up here! Loved every bright green relished bite of them. We then ordered more hotdogs to go for my parents. Hugh the manager was helping us and we told him we had come from California, and this was the first place we came to to eat. We told him how wonderful our food and experience was here at Josh’s. He knew our parents for many years. Hugh was a terrific guy, and gave us souvenir Josh’s T-shirts to bring back to California! Thanks so much. We will proudly wear and advertise for Josh’s on the West Coast! Maybe a satellite Josh’s could open up there??? Wishful thinking. So for a real«Taste of Chicago» go to the best place on the Northshore… Josh’s!

Everything at this grill is solid. They use good quality meats, and it pays off. The dog is better than most and for a standard Chicago style, it’s the best in the area. Yes, the best hot dog in the area. *As I give a five star rating, I must caution, if you go here and expect a great Italian beef, you will be disappointed.

Quite possibly best hot dog and fries I’ve ever had and even if it wasn’t the staff makes you wanna come back every day anyway. Seriously these guys are awesome. Hugo always has my order started when he sees me come in cause I get the same thing every time and it really is a good feeling to be a «regular.» I see the owner, Josh, talking to customers all the time and you can really tell he loves what he does and appreciates his staff. Highly recommend this place on so many levels! Great for a quick lunch or dinner but they have tables too so you can sit, relax and enjoy :)

Just okay — though I didn’t try the Polish or Italian Beef like Chris M. I wasn’t super hungry or in the mood for a hot dog(funny…no one was) tonight, but we somehow picked a new spot at random for a family«dog out» dinner and went for it. Three Junior kids cheeseburger combos($ 4.99 each) with fries and a drink. Great price, but the patties weren’t anything I’d come back for. Perhaps the grown-up burgers are better? They were pretty thin, and there was no Merkt’s cheese on them like Alan R mentions. But again, I didn’t get a regular burger. Honestly, the fries weren’t my favorite. These were only lightly crispy and unseasoned, but I did appreciate the fact that they weren’t greasy and the portion sizes are HUGE! I personally prefer my fries crunchier and toastier. No Merkt’s cheese sauce for the fries either, so I’m wondering if they did away with that. Junior cheeseburger = 3 stars My hubby had a Greek salad($ 6.45), and it was loaded with feta, olives, cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce and a super tangy delicious dressing. Good portion size, and a nice option for a vegetarian. Greek Salad = 4 stars 5-star customer service for sure. The guys behind the counter are super friendly. They took our order right away and were patient with my kids who couldn’t make up their minds about their drink(sorry people behind us). Cute signs everywhere(see pics), and I especially like the one that says«If you’re in a rush, shout your order to HUGO… He hears everything!(and when you get your food, get out of here)» Clean and family-friendly. My boys loved it.
