After reading reviews for Kulas Maids, as well as years of researching for a quality cleaning service. I know how hard it is to find a good service. When it comes to housekeeping and landscaping it can be HELL. Almost a joke sometimes.
After realizing the company I had for MANY years was doing a substandard job and I was doing nothing about it, except continuing to pay them, I decided to speak to the owner of this group. I specified exactly what needed improvement. He looked at me and said, «that would be 3 times the price.» I realize it is somewhat odd, but I actually felt hurt. And I felt done with him. I researched and found Kulas Maids.
They were polite and approachable on the phone-​and trust me, I know when the person on the phone is being a jerk, or worse. They were flexible with how often you can get a cleaning and they give a window of time they will be coming, and the day BEFORE they call to give you the SPECIFIC time. No sitting around waiting like you would for Comcast.
I have them come every 4 weeks. It is usually the same group-​it has always been the same «main» lady. She (and the girls) are very kind, sweet, and professional. They are lovely to my 3 year old (who seems to always be asking when they are coming back.)
Now, we all have our «quirks» and «expectations» when it comes to our house being cleaned. Everyone is different when it comes to what they «believe» is clean and what a good job looks like. I am one of those VERY sensitive, «OCD» people and like it to be what *I* see as perfect. Nothing and no one is perfect. However, you are PAYING your hard earned money for the house to be cleaned. I believe this whole scenario is sort of like a relationship and everyone needs to be clear on what is most important for that individual person when it comes to the house and it being «clean.»
Kulas Maids have been coming to clean my house for many months now. There were a few issues that I noticed (it wouldn’t matter if Mr. Clean was doing the cleaning, I would have found specifics that I wanted improvement on.) So, I wrote a brief list of «Items to be Remembered While Cleaning.» This way I can make sure there is no confusion on what I want to make SURE is done and done WELL. And yes, like many companies out there, the ladies first language is not English. Does this make it easy to communicate about everything in detail? No. However, it is now 2016 and there is this wonderful invention called Google Translate. After typing up my short list, I was able translate it into Ukrainian in about 5 seconds. During my cleanings I will always have this handy to show/​remind our lady so we can all be on the same page. Also, I can always edit/​add to this list at any time. I have also sent the list to the Kulas Office. Their staff was BEYOND appreciative and professional.
This is just my «two cents» for all my fellow people out there that have struggled with finding a cleaning company that provides quality and professional results.
Maybe I have high expectations in life but when I am paying someone for ANY service I do believe the outcome should be excellent **AND** that I should be treated in a specific way-​as a valued and highly respected customer.

I really don’t like anything about this cleaning company. They race through your house and spray really chemical smelling cleaners all over everything. I think it make the house smell as though it’s been cleaned without really getting it clean. They banged their vacuum into our hand painted columns and chipped the paint off. They didn’t show up one day and when I called to find out what was going on they told me they booked a new customer at our time. What?!? Their customer service is also atrocious. They will never return phone calls. Terrible cleaning company. Do yourself a favor and call someone else.

My 78 year old mom just had a hip replacement, and rather than try to clean her house, she had Kulas maids. My mom and dad were both home when they sent 4 women for an hour. Well when they left she noticed her tylenol #3’s were gone. They were right next to the cyclobenzaprine (flexeril). She called the service and they told her that maybe the women misplaced it… Oh ya, duh… right! Didn’t offer to pay for a script, replace what was stolen or even say they’d question the women that were there. That’s what happens when you said 4 women for a 1200 sq foot house… they have too much time on their hands and they steal. Do not use this service. The house didn’t look any cleaner either… the tub and shower… filthy. They probably were too busy looking for more medication!

I don’t understand the negative ratings. They showed up exactly on time, left exactly on time, worked very hard the entire 1.25 hours, and my 3 bedroom townhouse and basement is extraordinarily clean. Could I nitpick? Yes. Did I pay for a crew of 20 to be in my house all day? No. They cleaned behind and underneath things that was amazing for the time they were there.

I’m not quite sure what dog dander is, but all I know is that I need it out of my house. After finding out that my 2 yr old was extremely allergic to our dog of 9 years we found a new home for her with my in laws in Dallas. The dog that is, not my 2 yr old… although I’ve been tempted to ship him off to Dallas too during some recent terrible 2 moments. :).
Once the dog was settled in Dallas I decided it was time for a deep cleaning. We do have a regularly scheduled cleaning lady but I wanted a crew to come in and wipe down all the walls and do all the little details that one person can’t do her own.
To be honest the reviews for deep cleaning services in the north shore (both on Unilocal and from friends) are less than satisfactory. Basically my 2 options were kulas and perfection cleaning and I decided to try kulas first due to the Unilocal reviews.
They sent someone out to give an estimate. He was right on time (hooray) and did a quick tour of my house. I was expecting to pay a few thousand dollars for a deep cleaning since many people had warned me of the expense so I was surprised when he quoted me less than $ 300 for a crew of 4 people to come in for a deep cleaning. I clarified at least 3 times that I wanted more than a regular cleaning including wiping down all the walls. He confirmed that’s what they’d do.
I booked them for 1pm on a Friday and they showed up right on the dot. I was only home for a few min during the time they were there, but my nanny supervised them and said they really did get to everything. They were also flexible with working around my 2 yr olds nap– saving his room (the room that I wanted cleaned the most) for last.
After they were done the house didn’t look that much cleaner than it does when my regular cleaning lady comes (husband didn’t even notice they had been there) but they did do the walls, baseboards, etc that she doesn’t get to on a weekly basis. Considering I don’t even know what dander is I’m not sure it’s all gone, but hopeful most traces of the dog have been removed from the house between them, my regular cleaning lady, carpet cleaners and time passed.
Overall, I’d recommend kulas before a move in or perhaps once or twice a year for an extra good cleaning. I personally prefer to have a cleaning lady that I know each week rather than a crew, but for those who don’t mind having people they don’t know in their house this is a good option.

They did a good job of cleaning, but left my back door wide open twice. Have also broken things– coffee pot, ceramics. They did replace the coffee pot.

I love this maid service! I highly recommend. I’ve had nothing but great experiences, and I love that my whole house is cleaned too to bottom in an hour and a half!

always on time and polite. they are not very good at scrubbing floors. They only lightly mop it. also they do not clean the corners on the floor

My house was a disaster due to a plumbing leak and plumbers trudging throughout house in snowy and salty boots, and I was going out of my mind. My usual cleaner canceled and I called kulus in the hopes they could come last minute. They didn’t have anything for today but I begged and they squeezed me in.
So they showed up on time and for the 1 hour I booked the 4 women worked hard and were very thorough. They cleaned areas most ignore and my floors have never been so clean. They don’t do everything I need and it’s a little pricey but I plan to use in the future every so often.

If you’re going to use them don’t even think about canceling when they call to confirm your time!
I used Kulas for over a year and their cleaning abilities were just fine. I tried to schedule a cleaning prior to my twins’ 1^st birthday party and they gave me a window of 8 – 4 (yuck!). I did agree to it, but when they called to tell me they’d be there at 11, I had to cancel since the party started at 1. I felt bad, but life happens people. When I called for my next appointment, they told me they could no longer help me. Seriously?! One time and they decide that? I was stunned and mad. This is NOT a way to run a business… especially when the cleaning is mediocre at best. I agree with Annie G. — it was definitely a race for them to get out once they got there.

I use Kula’s regularly for our housekeeping. The teams that come to our house are professional and do a lovely job. I’m very pleased with the service they provide.
The way I find it works best is for me to clear spaces on the bathroom counters and all level surfaces and then put everything back out following. This way the surfaces are super clean and nothing is ever broken.

Ditto on all of the reviews. The one positive is that they were pretty much always on time.
However, once there it’s like a race to get the hell out. Sloppy — looking for the easiest way out. Stuff broken all of the time. Which, I get. It happens to me to sometimes. But TELL ME.
Worst of all — I «lost» some expensive jewelry that I had left on my nightstand from the evening prior. And it wasn’t like one random earring might have been knocked and vacuumed up. It was a tennis bracelet, earrings, and a necklace with pendant.
And before you say it, I KNOW!!! Nothing worse than being mad at yourself. Just forgot to tuck them away.

Marginal. Cleaning is a B minus or a solid C. Customer service on phone still lacking. Requested a particular crew (one that subbed in over the holidays and was markedly better than current cleaning crew). Rather than inquire as to why I would prefer a different crew, they just said «no». Twice. If I owned the business, I would be wondering WHY a regular customer might be dissatisfied and work to improve quality of all crews, including the current one. Indeed– mediocre management, poor customer service and cleaning quality depends on what crew you are lucky enought to receive.;

I wish I could give 0 stars. This is the second review I’ve taken the time to write. We had a new construction home and our builder hired them to clean the house for our move in. They charged $ 600 which I thought was excessive. When the women were cleaning, several were on their phones the whole time sort of casually cleaning with no detail at all. Our house was covered with sawdust and we need a deep clean. The worst part, and why I am writing this review, is that they ruined our brand new, never been used marble shower. As soon as they were done, I noticed that there were bleach/​ammonia splotches all over the floor of the shower like someone poured a bucket of non-​marble safe chemicals down the drain. The owner showed up to see it within 2 hours of his women leaving and said that obviously someone came in after them and poured a bucket of something in the shower. Who??? This was not days later. It was hours and we called him immediately.
He said they use only «green» products. Are you kidding? A cleaning service doesn’t know that green doesn’t mean «safe for marble»? So, he paid to have a marble restorer come out who confirmed they used a product not safe for natural stone. He tried for a long time but could not repair the damage. Our tile installer said it would be $ 1000 to rip out the old floor and put a new one in and we may have problems with leaking because it is not as good as when it is put in all together. Great. Now we are stuck with either a damaged floor with bleach all over it in what used to be a beautiful shower or a potentially leaky floor with different color marble (since the lot we purchased is gone and the new lot is very dark).
Needless to say, our builder told him that he was not getting paid because we now have $ 1000 repair job ahead of us and he should actually pay for the extra $ 400. I guess recently the Kulas guy actually called to demand payment. If they don’t know how to clean stone, how do they call themselves a cleaning service?

my sister uses Kulas to clean her house and suggested I do the same after I had moved out of my small 2 bedroom condo so they could clean it for the people moving in after me. wow, was I really impressed with the job they did. one area I was never able to get clean was my stove. it’s one of those electric cooktops where the grease gets cooked onto the edges of the burners really easily. they were able to get it out with ease and cleaned the rest of the oven without issue. they also swept my outdoor deck and hand washed the floors. the place looks spotless now. they had a crew of 4 for my tiny 850 sqft place and finished just over an hour.
they missed a couple spots, but were quick to remedy that. They also have a 24 hour guarantee so if they missed something they’ll come back for free.
overall I was very impressed and would definitely use them again.

I used them once and I will never use them again. They came in on time had four girls who seemed to be rushing so much to get the place cleaned in an hour. It seemed to me what they were trying to do was to leave the illusion that the place was clean as supposed to really cleaning my place. I found some dirt hidden and there was no time to even communicate with them what my expectations were, as the were in a big hurry to get out there. The product they used left the place smelling good but that was about it. Most of what they did felt like they were just hiding the dirt into closets and under the bed. The bathroom tabs was not cleaned properly at all. None of them spoke a word of English. I was willing to give them another chance hoping that once I stated my expectations ahead of time, they would do what I wanted them to do. Keep in mind I was willing to pay extra to get my place cleaned properly. The lady who picked up the phone rudely told me nope they could not do it. I read another review about lack of customer service and it was dead on. I decided that was it. I called your bright home and they did a much better job even though the lady was too old to be efficient and had a little bit of an attitude. Finally I decided to contact Belyana on sittercity she and her mom did a great job and did way more than what the first two companies did for $ 30 less. I cant wait for those two to come back for another round this month.

Despite numerous negative online reviews, I gave them a chance anyway. After 5 times of hiring their service, I’m now looking for a different cleaning company at this point.
The main reason is dealing with the company is an extremely difficult and unpleasant experience. They are rude, abrupt and have no concept of customer service. When I hang up the phone each time I ask myself why I bother.
The crew does show up on time, which is good. The cleaning depends on the crew you get, so it’s pot-​luck. Usually only 1 – 2 out of 4 are hardworking, the others are not. (One crew scratched my tub, which I wasn’t happy about). Overall nothing special.
The main reason I would not recommend this company is there are too many other companies out there who would value having your business.

Want a cleaning service that will do a good job of cleaning your pad without cleaning out your cash? Kulas is for you. I hired Kulas to substitute for my regular cleaning lady who was out of town. I received a call the day before their visit, telling me to expect them at a time within the window I requested. Kulas Maids showed up promptly with a crew of 4and proceeded to clean my house in 1−½ hours. The price ($ 150) was less than half of what I paid three years ago to another service when my cleaning lady took off a month for maternity. Kulas is the next best thing to having a cleaning lady of your own, and I will use them in the future when my regular cleaner is not available.

We were happy with Kula’s maids until they failed to show up for our regular cleaning time. We called the office to find out what was going on and they told us they could no longer accommodate our 7am start time because they scheduled another house before us in the morning. If we wanted an early cleaning they said we would have to switch crews and change the day and start at 5:30 am. Horrible customer service and no respect for the set schedule.

Tried this service because our neighbor uses them regularly, so I’ve also included their opinions. Based on our 2 visits, I find them timely, reliable, reasonably priced, thorough. Expect a different crew of 4 every visit. Naturally, sometimes your house will be spotless and sanitized, other times just pretty clean. Phone help is prompt and professional. I am only giving 3 stars because I have not used many services, so not much to compare to.
