Our 5 year old hockey tot loves the ice. And with the unseasonably cool weather this year, it seems fitting that we’ve been spending most of the summer indoors ice skating, hitting up many of the public skate sessions around the Chicagoland area. North Shore Ice Arena doesn’t offer public skating, but they do run good specials/rates for reserve ice time. We booked an hour of ice time in the studio rink last weekend, for our family of 4 and a few friends. Good times all around. They have a full sized rink and studio rink. We didn’t skate on the full rink but the studio Ice was smooth, plenty of space, and we spent maybe 20 minutes just skating around, then the rest of the time with sticks and pucks. Facilities here are great… plenty of locker room space, clean bathrooms, and a nice lounge/concession area. Staff is friendly and helpful. This is not our local rink but we’re planning to come back more often to get some dedicated ice time.

One of the newer rinks in the Chicago area, opened in 06′ or 07′ not sure. One full size regulation rink and the other is a ‘studio type’ rink for party’s or lessons.
