A friend and I drove by Yamamoto while heading to Trader Joe’s & Nordstrom Rack and she insisted we go there. I’m pretty weary of sushi places in the suburbs(for whatever reason I’ve programmed my mind to believe that sushi is more fresh in the city) but we decided to be adventurous. I’m glad that we did. They have a good selection of rolls at average prices($ 8 — 15). We had the Eel Spring Roll, the Caterpillar and the Big Mouth Roll. All were very tasty and fresh. We also had the Asparagus Beef Rolls as an appetizer and that was delicious. The service was great as well. There was one woman waiting tables on a Friday night. She did a good job of taking care of everybody. Beer seemed a little expensive to me; I believe that most were priced at $ 9 but I’m sure you get a large size. The atmosphere is very casual so I don’t know about having a romantic date here. I would come here again if I am in the area. If you live in the area, I’d recommend hitting this place up. They’ve got parking and are open until about 10pm on most days.

I give it 4 stars because my husband would give it 5 and I would give it 3. ;). we go to yamamoto pretty often because it is close from us but mostly because my husband loves this sushi place. The décor is not the best, but it is ok, the service is usually great and super friendly. The one thing my husband loves is that he is not a super fan of raw fish and this is the only sushi place that really catters to his needs. He can get tons of rolls that do not have too much raw fish. The best is that they have some amazing combination(like the marilyn monroe, which we always get) and the price are decent. I personally feel that for a real sushi place i would want to see a little more«pure fish» rolls offered(like a rainbow roll). However, I am always very satisfied with my meal. They do have alot of fried/tempura rolls which is great for first timers Edit: We went back many many time since this review and i urge to try the ICHIBAN… a kind of «cooked suhi dish»… lovely… delicious. just plain good

Formerly Dr Zushi, Yamamoto is both a traditional Japanese restaurant and a sushi bar. I went with the Flank steak with a spicy marinara type sauce on it. It was good, but nothing to shout about. Their rolls and sushi looked really good. My wife has the San Fran roll(avocado, crab, shrimp etc.) Next time, I will definitely go with a roll. By the time everyone else had ordered, I didn’t have time to see the list with all their rolls, only the main menu. I’m sure we’ll be back.
