Fielder’s Choice

Very good and reasonably priced. Bar food refined. Green eggs and ham pizza was delish. Over easy bacon cheesy burger was delish. Had the pbj burger once was ok but would pass next time. I love this place so far and it has been good for the local restaurant scene. Oh and they have a ton of beers on tap. 30+ I believe.

I find it hard to give a bar food restaurant a rating of five stars. The food was good, the service was spot on, cleanliness was good, the beer choices and flights were awesome! Kimberly, our server, did her best to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, she was very attentive. Sounds like the ownership has plans to expand with an outdoor patio area this summer, we are looking forward to eating under the stars.

I think I was expecting a lot when I went here the first time. So, if I am a little hard on Fielder’s choice, I apologize.
First visit:
I had the tuna burger and I was expecting something similar to what the Olé store serves (from the description) and it was just a very poor imitation. I should have sent it back I guess. The Tuna was overcooked, not enough sauce and the bun wasn’t very good. The side salad my wife had was tasty and she said she thought the American burger she had was good. The service was great. The beer selection, well I wish they had Guiness Draught on tap. If they had that on tap, I would stop by at least 1xmonth. All the beers are MN beers, which is cool, but I guess I don’t like many of the MN beers. haha Too many hoppy beers and I’m just not a fan of those. So, I was a little let down on my first visit.
Second visit:
This visit was better. The meat pizza I had was good and the dry rub wings were some of the best wings I’ve had. I was disappointed they didn’t have honey bbq or just regular bbq wings, but the dry rub was so good I’m going to have to get dry rub wings from other places in the future.
So, overall 4 stars. Not bad, but not the Olé Store either.

I really wish it had been better this time. This place has a chance to be something really great in Northfield if they can get their act together. While I generally enjoyed the food, a few big things really need to be worked on. I ordered the «half grilled chicken with red potatoes and vegetables.» What came was two breaded and deep fried cutlets with mashed potatoes. I told them the menu didn’t say that and the response was «oh, we got rid of that a long time ago because people didn’t like it» followed by the manager saying «your server was supposed to tell you.» There was not really a sincere apology here. Why not print a new menu? The entire dish was different. I think this place is a really well-​trained wait staff and consistently good menu away from a success story.

Great menu selections! Finally Northfield gets a place with a unique menu, instead of the same old things.
Fish and chips were ok, Lettuce wraps were fantastic, French Onion Soup broth was weak in beef flavor. However, the dinner specials, Shrimp and Lobster Mac and Cheese and Jambalaya were very good. Portions are very generous, prices really reasonable and tap beer selection much needed in this town.

There were three of us, solid 4-​stars. Wait staff was attentive and polite. #1-​Fish & chips gets a 4, fish was nice and crispy but the fries weren’t crispy enough. #2-​Over easy bacon cheesy burger gets a 5, fries were excellent! #3-​Pot roast gets a 3, the gravy tasted like a mix, not from scratch but the meat was very flavorful and there were a lot of vegetables. The menu has a nice variety of options and the beer selection was very good. Water/​soda glasses were nice and big!

I gave it 3 stars because 1. The service was lacking — for a relaxed atmosphere the waitstaff is awfully curt and appeared very stressed. 2. The salad I ordered came out in huge leaves. There was no way to eat it with a fork. I asked my waitress to take it back and have it cut smaller, «that’s how we make our salads». I told her I couldn’t eat it that way and another waitress took it for me, upon return she let me know «just so you’re aware that’s how we make our salads». It felt unnecessary. I just want to be able to use my fork. 3. They have a gluten free indication I their menu ‘items makes with this are gluten free’ nothing was marked! I asked the waitress and she let me know that they have gluten free buns and pizza crusts available. Nowhere on the menu was that indicated or mentioned.
The beer list looked great and the staffed seemed knowledgable about the differences in the beers which was nice to have. My husband really enjoyed the pretzel bun option for his burger.

LOVE this place! Our family has dined here a few times and have not been disappointed. Great burgers, great appetizers, great atmosphere… love the local ingredients… just the kind of place Northfield has needed! My only suggestion is to print a menu of the available beers along with short descriptions. 35 taps are awesome, but waiting for the menu screens to scroll and to only be given the name of the beer makes it difficult to choose. Overall a GREAT addition to Northfield… we’ll be back often!

Great beer selection and food! Service was also very nice. This is a great addition to Northfield. My only complaint was that the restaurant closes at 10 PM. We wanted to stay longer but had to leave. What if a game goes later than 10 PM? Hopefully they change their hours! Besides that, we will for sure be back.

I so desperately want this restaurant to succeed. I think it fills a niche in the Northfield scene. So, I hope that an owner or a manager reads this: you really need to train your staff! My family has now been twice and there were so many service mistakes both times! The first time we went I ordered a diet soda and a water to drink. I ended up getting soda water. The server didn’t know that «soda» and «pop» were the same thing! We got a children’s menu for our toddler but no crayons. We kept asking for the crayons every trip she made back to our table. We had to wait forever for our bill. That sort of stuff. The next trip I again tried to get a Dr. Pepper and a glass of water. Apparently this is impossible. My husband ordered a beer that didn’t come, and didn’t come, and didn’t come. Finally I went up to the bar and got it. We ordered an appetizer and our meals. We got our appetizer and our meals – at the same time! Not typically what I am looking for. This time our server brought our bill – before that beer. You get the idea. It’s just kind of a farce. The experience with the host and the table buser was weird too. They just need to train their people. It’s mostly sad. Everyone’s trying but apparently they don’t know how to run a restaurant.

The food was excellent but our waiter was terrible:(He put in our app and main dish together. I felt push out as my husband didn’t even finish his beer and the check was on the table. Our waiter didn’t even ask if we wanted a box or desert…
Like I said food and beer selection was excellent, waiter sucked.

I am very happy this place opened it. They have an excellent beer selection. Their cheeseburgers are outstanding. I really like the pretzel appetizer. They’re still working out some kinks with their french fries. The five star review is more I’m just happy that it exists than anything else.

Absolutely awesome! Since the moment they have opened, everything has been terrific! I have been in about 10 times now since they opened, and they have exceeded my expectations each and every time.
The pizzas are excellent, with the Carnivore being my current favorite. The Mami-​Pastrami, and the Over Easy Bacon Cheesy burgers have been very well prepared, and the 16 ounce steak was perfect. Beer selection is huge, and served at just the right temperature.
Everything is fresh, well sourced, and very well prepared.
This is such a tremendous addition to Northfield! They are doing a great job. VERY pleased. HIGHLY recommend.

Fabulous new restaurant in Northfield. Great atmosphere and décor. The menu is fabulous and the food is amazing! We tried the wings, poutine, pizza and a burger at our table and it was all great! It’s not just your average food either, each item is a little special. Much of the food is locally sourced as well. Northfield was so in need of a restaurant like this!
