What a nice place for dinner. Based on Unilocal reviews we gave it a try. We sat outside without a problem though they first tried to seat us at a high bar-type table but were seated at a normal table with no issue. Too high for all but tall men to sit comfortably and We laughed as other parties were seated there and also asked to move. Our waitress Jenna was great. The food was fantastic. We had swordfish and crab cakes, best we have had in a long time. Very innovative Asian themed dishes. Somewhat pricey but worth it. As a bring your own place it cuts the cost also. Caution on sitting outside: the no-see-um flies were out in abundance and biting. They put citronella candles out but we still were bit. But this place is great.

Have been here a few times; always for lunch. While I LOVE the calamari and that delicious sauce it’s in, the rest of the food for me is just meh. Some of the things I’ve had are the grilled cheese and tomato basil soup(which is very tasty), the crab fried rice, chicken caprese(I think that was the name) and the beef short rib egg rolls. All good but a tad expensive for what you get. However, I will be going back to try dinner because I hear it is very good. Not giving up on this place just yet!

Just finished my entrée and all I have to say is wow. Everything was fantastic with layers of flavors making every bite different and delicious… On a side note it was not a heavy and overbearing meal.

Beautifully crafted dishes, unique flavor combinations. Joe’s menu is amazing! Casual for lunch and dress it up for dinner. It’s impossible to have a bad meal here. One of our favorite places!

I live and work in the Atlantic City area, and I go to a lot of restaurants. This restaurant is at the top of my list. Chef Muldoon is talented, and he takes the food to a new level. I highly recommend the sweet and sour calamari. It is simply delicious and different that any that I have had in the past. I also have the porcini mushroom soup whenever it is on the menu. The fish is always fresh and I love the scottish salmon. The Chef does change the menu, which keeps it interesting. In the summer, he uses fresh ingredients from his garden. If you do go on a warm night, choose to sit outside. It is simply lovely. Last evening I was at an event and we were discussing restaurants. Roberta’s was at the top of everyone’s list. One gentleman threw his head back and said, «I love Roberta’s.» I have to agree.

I recently went to Roberta’s by Joe Muldoon with my husband for my birthday dinner. We had passed by it many times but never went. We made a reservation, which was recommended on their website. The hostess had a table towards the front of the restaurant but it was rather cold out so we opted for a table near the back, which was not a problem. Our waitress, Ariel, was both friendly and helpful and since it was our first time at the establishment she recommended the sweet & sour calamari. Joe’s vision for this calamari is one that I have never experienced before and it made me secretly wish the plate was bottomless. The food came out timely throughout the night, which was a plus because at one point I looked up and noticed every seat was filled! For entrées my husband ordered the 16 oz veal tomahawk, which was a special for the night. I couldn’t decide between the duck and the grouper, and Ariel recommended if I had never had the duck to go with the latter because duck is not for everyone. The tomahawk was intriguing on top of delicious, served with the bone in. Very tender and juicy. The grouper was served on a bed of chorizo mashed poatoes with a tomatillo verde salsa and sautéed artichokes. YUM! I ended up taking half home because I was stuffed. Food was excellent, waitress and hostess were helpful, and the food was fresh and flavorful. Check out Roberta’s by Joe Muldoon’s but don’t forget to make a reservation — they get busy after 7:30pm — and to BYOB!

Really, $ 38.00 for scallops, progresso corn soup and potato chips with a few clams, server had an attitude after she asked if I like my dinner and I said, «Why would you put Ripple Potato Chips on this entrée?» My husband’s entrée was o.k. fish served over mashed potatoes, potatoes were cold. The attitude of this establishment is four star, not even close. Service, atmosphere and food are average at best.

The food is as good as many other restaurants in the area, but it costs $ 15 more an entrée! It’s BYO only, and the place has totally no atmosphere. It’s in a strip mall overlooking a McDonalds and a TD Bank. $ 38 crab cakes and $ 29 chicken should be reserved for free-standing restaurants with valet, signature cocktails, and career servers. The food, service, and atmosphere are all in themselves only proficient; but for the price demanded, Roberta’s fails to make a meal a special experience.

Hands down the best restaurant on the mainland. Chef Muldoon is not only creative but one of the most reputable and professional restaurateurs you will find anywhere. Sure the scallop chowder, calamari and meatloaf are his signature dishes but heck out his fresh fish dishes, seasonal items such as pumpkin gnocchi, the best short rib you will ever devour and the coconut shrimp, which breaks all stereotypes of what coconut shrimp is all about. Lunch is also special with the best chicken salad I ever had, an open faced ahi tuna to die for and two of the best soups you will ever have: baked potato and tomato basil. Chef Muldoon is so serious shot freshness that he actually has a giant garden he personally tends to in the rear of the restaurant. Roberta’s is the real deal. As good as anything you will find in Atlantic City without having to drive there. Plus the BYO is a bonus.

I live in New York but grew up in south jersey. We are big foodies and since New York I’ve been unimpressed obviously with most restaurants when I come home. However, I took my mom here for her birthday dinner tonight with my husband and we were all very happy and I was super impressed that northfield has adopted such a great chef and restaurant. Hats off to you chef Joe Muldoon!(I became intrigued after eating and read all of his articles posted on the walls). First it is BYOB so feel free to bring your favorite bottle of wine! For appetizers we got the Calamari which came highly recommended, it did not disappoint. Very tender and delicious with a wasabi aioli. We also got beef short rib egg rolls. It was good but needed more short rib to complete the egg roll ratio. Loved the kimchee. Entrees I got the flounder with lemon and thyme, which I never would have ordered as it’s such a tasteless fish but loved the combo of the risotto with the tomatoes and scallop. I expected more lemon taste but loved it overall. My mom got the swordfish wrapped in prosciutto which was outstanding and saucy, probably the best dish of us all. My husband got the duck. He wished it was a bit more flavorful and moist(he ordered it medium rare) but was still happy with the experience over all. For dessert we got the chocolate marquee. The chocolate mousse was overly outstanding. We savored every bite. Everything here is cooked fresh and made to order which makes me think there will be different menus for fall, winter and spring. We will be back to try more things! Bravo Robertas!

First off the wait staff the presentation and the apps were awesome. Calamari is a must and so unique. Pork belly’s could use a little more flavor. Then the entrees came out. Mom got the salmon with fried portebella and it was phenomenal. Father got crab cakes and everything was awesome. The server recommended that I got my duck medium rare(which is how I eat my meat anyway) so naturally I agreed. The duck came out medium almost medium well and our server didn’t return to even ask how everything came out until she came back for desserts. For almost $ 50 a head and not to mention the weak support staff they had considering after our entrees we didn’t even get our water refilled on a Wednesday even before/after desert it’s a little bit ridiculous. This place has all the ingredients to be one of the best in south jersey. Just don’t treat a mediocre Wednesday as a mediocre Wednesday. Every dish matters

This is a cumulative review after several lunches and two dinners… This is one of my go-to lunch places with gluten free wraps and great sweet potato fries and some great salads. There is always something interesting on the daily specials and I have never had a bad meal They definitely kick things up a notch for dinner(both in menu and in price). The dishes are all inventive and unique though I have actually never ordered an entrée from the menu because both times I was here for dinner the special sounded so amazing I had to try them! On my first visit I had one of the best meals of my life, and could not wait to go again. Unfortunately on my second visit my food was undercooked, though they were quick to fix that, and though the meal didn’t end up being to my taste, my glorious memories of my first dinner may have set the bar too high for my second… Guess I will have to try a third! Bring a bottle of wine and deep pockets and you will have a unique and inventive dinner.

Went there on 6÷13÷2015 for friends birthday. We were a party of 10 and not one of us had an enjoyable meal. the service was fine the rack of lamb and pork tenderloin was totally tasteless no seasoning just a piece of meat the calamari appetizer was good and so was the dessert, but will never return as all of us agreed. My pork tenderloin outshines his by fair

Oh my all time fav restaurant! Like everyone notice, the staff were very professional. Everything about this restaurant is beyond 5 stars. I noticed this little gem at a cooking competition for charity. The Sweet and Sour Calamari won the competition. I googled the restaurant and stopped in the next day for more. Kani salad was perfect with a crunch. Strawberry and spinach salad, the sweet and sour strawberry went well with the balsamic dressing along with my favorite green: spinach Goat cheese almond salad: great combo of cranberries almond and goat cheese topped with a raspberry dressing The pear and apple salad… I just love fruits in salads.

Think local … shop local … support local … all of this led to a ROBERTAs by JOEMULDOON Monday lunch. Ok, I didn’t have a lot of time so it was definitely a pick-up brown bag(Yes, they carefully place your lunch choices in a really big brown bag.) type of lunch and the COMBO lunch frequently has my name on it. Today all I really had to hear was TOMATOBASIL soup was in the mix. The added sandwich/salad was an amazing grilled cheese with their freshly seasoned french fries. It was the TOMATOBASIL soup that first brought me to Joey Muldoon’s classy Northfield corner eatery. A friend said that it was to «die for» but I prefer to say it is to ‘live for” because it is the perfect lunch time soup … so comforting and just plain YUMMMMMMM. When I walked in there was Joe himself behind the counter. The young chef/owner’s smile is always radiating in his restaurant but what I love is the open kitchen where the magic is performed. Joe remembers faces and names … Joe remembers that a good meal at reasonable prices matters to people … and Joe remembers that being part of a community means giving back and he does. I have yet to have anything but a five star experience at Joey’s place. Ok, I will admit that I am not an al fresco diner who finds dining on cement while overlooking a parking lot an appealing meal experience but I may be in the minority because many diners clearly enjoy that option too. Joe even has a garden out back of his resident in the middle of shopping plaza-laden Northfield. I’ll be back … it’s only 5 minutes from work … PERFECT just like today’s lunch!

Went here last month and am finally able to get around to talking about Roberta’s. Originally, my party and I was going to go to Steve and Cookies in Margate. However, we couldn’t get a reservation. So I went onto my trusty Unilocal to see what my awesome Unilocalers were saying about other nice area restaurants. I stumbled upon Robertas By Joe Muldoon and I have no regrets. Besides all the great reviews by other Unilocalers, the photos of the food looked so delicious. I even did a little bit of extra legwork and googled Joe Muldoon and other info I could find on the place and chef. So why not try the new place out? Everything sounded and looked great! We tried the appetizers that the other Unilocalers all raved about, tuna, beet, etc. My dinner was the skirt steak special. Savory, tender, and rich in flavor. Service was well above par. The server was extremely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the menu, the chef’s style of cooking, etc. We were lucky to have the owner chef, Joe Muldoon, come visit our table. It seems he visits most of the tables to see how everyone is enjoying their dinner. It’s a very nice and humbling experience. We hope Roberta’s stay a long time and would definitely recommend you have a date night with your significant other here.
