The Notch

Everytime we come here it is subpar, food is greasy or bad service from people with attitudes. Have been sick from the coldcut grinder, which is outrageously priced and may ir may not (depending on how they feel) come with fries. Came in today and they refused my husband lunch as it was five minutes too early and they were still serving breakfast.

My husband and I have eaten here a number of times since moving to Northfield last month. It’s a great little local diner, and we have been pleased with our choices for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I initially thought it was just a breakfast and lunch place, but was pleased to learn that they are open most evenings until 7 or 8. Breakfast choices are typical of a diner; egg combos, omelets, pancakes. Sandwiches and grinders are good. I recently tried the grilled Reuben raved about in an old newspaper review hanging on the wall, and it deserved the praise for the sandwich as well as the ridiculous amount of fries. Dinner selections are basic, home-​cooked comfort food. They always have a few dinner specials– we have tried and enjoyed the meatloaf and shepherd’s pie. And the prices can’t be beat– very rare that we can eat out for under $ 20 (under $ 10 for breakfast). The staff are friendly, and we hope to become some of the local regulars that they know by name and exchange playful banter with.

Great breakfast, coffee was soso. The thick sliced bacon was cooked to perfection. Eggs were fresh and the pancakes were huge and filling. Mostly local folks but worth checking out if you happen to be in the Northfield area. Open for lunch too

Friendly Waite staff! The cook Kathy is always friendly and works very hard! Closed on tuesday’s. Great prices! Home cooked good food! I couldn’t post my pics. next time!

The best breakfast in the area. I look forward to breakfast every weekend at the Notch. Cathy is a great cook and the bacon is to die for. Waitresses Laurie and Denise are always on top of things. The prices are ridiculously low, a true bargain.

I’ve never been disappointed with the Notch. Great food! Great service! Great prices! Would go there again and again.

Great small town, old time diner with really inexpensive food. Alright meals, but great gatherin place for town folk.
