The first thing I saw when I pulled up were stacks upon stacks of old used dirty mattresses.(Do I even have to mention that my room was also located above said mattresses?!) This place needs to step up their game if they want people to stay here. Because that’s just gross! Upon checking in the clerk was friendly and very helpful. Because we had a dog with us we were given an upon floor room with hardwood floors. The room was overall decent and came with a mini fridge. The room was a distinct smell and a view left something to be Desired. I wouldn’t recommend this place to others but that’s just my opinion. I would also recommend bringing along a power bar if you plan on plugging in and charging any of your electronics, as finding a spare plug in is quite difficult.

I knew this Super 8 didn’t have stellar reviews, but I have pretty minimum standards for a hotel; I assumed that perhaps the other reviewers were more difficult to impress. But I gotta say… This room at this Super 8 in Northlake, IL(where I’m currently writing from) smells like the bedroom of an old person – not a good thing. The smell is a bit overwhelming. I have the window open and I turned the air on, but it’s really stuffy in here, which doesn’t help. One of the lamps doesn’t work and the flooring is oddly… lumpy?(I’m only pointing this out, a lumpy floor doesn’t bother me!) The bathroom looks like it was remodeled a few years ago, but someone rushed through it, because the tissue dispenser part of the sink was never installed, so there’s just this weird hole that shows off that they skipped painting the wall under the sink. They dont have cable/satellite here, which is a bummer. There was a big detergent/bleach blob of discoloration on the bedcover. Odd. I can see they have a bedbug cover on the mattress, and I don’t know if that’s a red flag or not, but it doesn’t make me feel easy. As I’m typing this, I’m reminded again of the uncomfortable odor… Seriously, this is probably the most dive hotel I’ve ever been to. Like, if it wasn’t so late, I’d actually pay to get a different hotel room somewhere else.

Had to stay here due to United Airlines and their lack of on-time flights. This was the cheapest place I could find and was about $ 80 for the night. The room was typical of a Super 8 and just ok for a one nights stay. The shuttle to and from the airport was in someones dirty personal van that just had the name of the hotel stuck on the side window. Overall not too terrible but as expected for the name and price of the hotel.

Terrible. That’s what I think of when I think of this hotel. 1st off, they gave us a smoking room. Yes, the whole place reeks of smoke. After about 10 minutes, I had a headache from it. Air conditioning cycled on for about 2 minutes and off for 1. The problem is when it went off, I could hear the people in the next room speaking. They weren’t speaking super loud. Just normal talking voice but I could hear their whole conversation. It was 2 in the morning. Then 3 in the morning, then I finally tuned them out and fell asleep at 4. *sigh* What else??? I was going to complain about the hairball in the drain but The Wife says it was clear before she took a shower. We asked for shuttle at 9:45 so we could get to the airport by 10. At 9:30 the front desk calls and says, «Hey, the shuttle is getting full, can you wait until 10 for the next shuttle?» Uh. no. That’s why we reserved a 9:45. «We’ll be there in 10 minutes.» Then not 2 minutes later, the front desk calls again and the lady says we need to hurry. Uh. what? No. We just said we’d be there in 10 minutes. «We’re coming down now.» So we get to the front, the lady tries to apologize for rushing us. *sigh* What’s also strange is that the bus driver doesn’t speak English as his first language. He said, «Does anyone need to go to Terminal 2?» and no one understood him. I had to ask him to repeat himself and I was the only one who got it. I then had to translate it to the rest of the van. This place rocks. And by rocks, I mean it’s rock bottom. Rock bottom terrible. I did check for bedbugs before we got in the bed and there were no signs of them so at least that’s one star for Super 8 Northlake.

Stayed for one night mid-February. Shuttle driver very friendly, as was the young lady who checked me in. Gleaming clean hardwood flooring in room as opposed to a worn carpet. Very nice restaurant on property that offers 10% discount for guests. Decent cable TV selection. Smooth, friendly check-out. All in all I was very pleasantly surprised and will stay here again.
