I visited them for the first time & got their 12″ Roast Beef sandwich. Meat is cooked perfectly and THE tomato salad is so refreshing and tasty! I’m an alumni of CSUN and a bit bummed that I didn’t know about this place back then. We’ll definitely come back!

First visit, basically Sunday brunch I guess. It was super good. Close to my house, friendly staff and great fresh bread for my sandwich paired with great ingredients, this is a winner in my book. Thanks!

I absolutely love this sandwich shop and wpuld take it over Subway, Jimmy John’s, Which Wich, and Jersey Mikes any day; I can’t get enough of the tomato salad. I have been going here since I was a toddler and it has always delivered on an outstanding sandwich. My mom tells me their cheesecake is also really good.

I got the tuna sub; the bread was a lot softer than I like, but everything else about it was pretty good. I tend to prefer a sandwich that isn’t too overstuffed, so the high bread-to-meat ratio didn’t bother me the way it seems to bother other people. I think it’s likely I’ll come back the next time I’m in this part of the Valley, although I’ll have to get it easy on the tomato salad(I ordered it on the side this time in case I wouldn’t like it, and found out a spoonful or two was more than enough for me).

This is my go to spot for sub sandwiches. I’ve been coming here for years and it has been through a few owners as of late, but you can’t go wrong with any of the sandwiches. Some of my favorites are the Pastrami and My Hero sub. What makes this place unique and great is the tomato salad(think salsa but not spicy) which they use in every sandwich. The mac salad is equally delicious and they offer good sizes here and definitely reasonable prices. There is parking in front and on the street and the wait is never long. There are a few table inside and they have a bar stool dining style area that runs along the wall opposite the counter. There is also a TV if you happen to be dining alone. Prices are very reasonable and quality here is always top notch.

I’ve been eating here for over 40 years. It has always been great until today. They cut the amount of meat on the sandwiches to the point you can’t taste it. After 40 years I need to find meat sandwich that has meat Ill miss this place

Still one of the best sandwich shops in this area. Fresh rolls. Sliced meats are always fresh. They accept credit cards now so that’s convenient for everyone.

Wow, I have to say I’ve never been more disapointed. If you know anything about a good hot pastrami sandwich its simple and full of flavor. This is my first time going to my hero but my friends have raved about it, and for once i was in the mood for a sandwich. First off a pastrami should be hot and over flowing with meat, some mustard and pickles, maybe cheese but thats about it. The sandwich i got had 2 thin layers on each side and over flowing with there tomato crap that i told them not to put on, but if there wasnt the tomato it wouldnt be much of a sandwich at all. The meat was luke warm at best and the cheese wasnt melted, i give this two stars only because i havent had other sandwich from them and the place was clean and service was as should be expected. If your looking for a good pastrami, my hero is not the place to go.

25 years and I have to admit that it is still the best sandwich shop anywhere. I love the My Hero Special with the wonderful tomato salad in the center. Absolutely worth a drive when I have to have a treat. Reminds me of my college days.

Hard working, friendly service, and fresh quality subs. My uncle showed me My Hero when he went to CSUN, and now that I attend CSUN it’s my favorite spot to eat. Turkey sub, with the tomato salad is awesome! They will have my business for years to come.

Just ordered a great roast beef sandwich but the service was horrible. Absolutely horrible. After waiting for my food for 15 min and realizing that others had their order already i asked and the answer was«oh sorry.» No attempt to make it right at all. Waited in line for 5 min then another 20 minutes for my order.

The large sandwich was good, tasty, and well worth the price. I had the Turkey and left the store happy. I’ll be back My Hero Thanks, –Marc T.

Bomb pastrami sandwich with tomato salad and I added pepperchini’s. Warmed up, delicious meat and bread roll. Also gives student discount for CSUN students… Definitely coming back! $ 6.95 for a 6″ sub and chips with discount, not bad at all.

Best Sand which in the Valley. Although I don’t like that the place is small. I never eat inside. Always take my food to go. The sand which has a lot of tomatoes. #yummy

My Hero Subs used to be one of my favorite go to spot but they changed the owner recently and the vibe there changed in a bad way. The staff got my order wrong and gave me major attitude when I told them this isn’t what I normally order. The quality of the sandwich went down, the bread didnt taste as fresh. Overall, a big disappointment.

This is another hidden gem in the valley you gotta eat at if you like sandwiches. We have been wanting to eat at this place for years and never got around to getting there and we regret not coming sooner now. It’s a small little place, now there is a slight difference with this sandwich place, at other Sandwich places they put lettuce, onions, tomatoes and anything else you want. My hero’s does it a little different, their standard sandwich has your choice of meat, Italian tomato salad(which is chopped tomatoes and olive oil and seasonings in one) and mayo, you can also add lettuce, onions and other veggies if you like, I added everything to it, we got the roast beef sandwich, which is heated when they give it to you, AMAZING!!! And we also got the chicken breast sandwich and that’s a cold sandwich, Both sandwiches were 12 inch, Also got 2 drinks and a bag of chips, was $ 22 for everything, same price if you went to subway BUT! My heroes is WAY! better. Go eat here if you are craving a sandwich, it’s a very clean place and the stuff is very friendly. And their Air conditioning is amazing too lol it was 95 degrees out and air conditioning was a big plus lol. 5 stars! We will be back soon again.

This is my daughter spot and she always raves about the sandwiches so my daughter wanted to treat me to her spot. The lady at counter was really sweet. This is not subway however you can get the sandwich the way you like it. I got the chicken breast sandwich thinking it was going to be an actual chicken breast it is actual lunch meat but it was really good. the tomato salad was really good and I was surprised I thought it was just hype because everyone on Unilocal raved about it.. I noticed they don’t put cheese on their sandwiches I wonder why… OMG!!! I forget to mention the bread! Now I am not a bread eater but my kid is. Let me tell you that freakin bread was soooo soft! I couldn’t believe I was eating a sandwich with bread that tasted that good. Like the bread has nothing on any other sandwich place I have ever tasted and I love sandwiches. This place is a must trust. Very yummy

I tried the«My Hero Special» 12 inch and even though I did not like the sandwich, I liked the bread so much. It almost tasted and felt like a real east coast hoagie roll, the cornmeal and sesame seeds were perfect. The reason I didn’t like the sandwich was the meat/bread ratio. There was so much bread and so little meat but they just charge for what they give you, you can’t expect much from a $ 7 sub. Very friendly and fast. Just not something that I would crave for.

My Hero Subs has been around for YEARS! I’d eat here at least once a week for a good 4 years straight, it never got old. Service and sammies are on point! I’ve have their Turkey & Pastrami(2-separate kinds), but mainly Turkey and always tomato salad(style). Bread is fresh and I kimda have a thing for the seeds atop, meat is juicy and oh! that tomato style salad in their sub… fantastic, they pile it on! They are so good to you here at My Hero, service is nothing but fast, efficent and warm. It feels like coming home and your mom wanting to please you with her food and love. One of my favorite sandwich shops! Ask for the student discount, it used to be a free drink.
